One of the main reasons for using this is speed. If you mount a game CD for example, to a virtual drive then it will run faster because all the data is accessed directly from the hard disc and not the CD. Another use of the program is if you download a file that is in a disc image format, .dat for example, you can mount it to a virtual drive and view/play the contents.
