In 2002, it was estimated that spam cost US business nearly 9 billion dollars in wasted time. I get sent about 70 spam emails a day to one account, anything ranging from drugs, child porn, weapons as well as all the usual bollocks. If you received 70 letters a day or 70 phone calls from a company trying to sell you crap, you would probably be pissed off so I don't see why spam should be treated any differently.
