Two men have been jailed and two others given suspended sentences for making and selling tens of thousands of niche counterfeit vinyl records.

Christopher Price, 68, Stephen Russell, 65, Robert Pye, 63, and Alan Godfrey, 61, were part of a group which distributed unlicensed recordings of 1960s Northern Soul artists.

On Friday a court heard about 55,000 unlicensed records were seized by police following an investigation by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), which represents record companies in the UK including Warner Music, Sony Music Entertainment, and Universal Music Group.

Meanwhile, this cunt got off with a suspended sentence, despite him CLEARLY intending to do harm to the person inside that car, and him having a previous conviction for robbing a schoolboy at knifepoint.....

The criminal justice system is fucked up man.

Prison for that? Total waste of public resources. Just confiscate the cash, fine them or whatever. The judge seemed to recognise they hadn't really done much, but still put them away.

Yeah, the judge said if the men owed any royalties to the record labels it was likely to be a small amount.

prison???? maybe the criminal justice system is bored of not solving knife crime.

Couldn't agree more..what those guys did doesn't warrant a prison sentence, shit is fucked up.This should have been a civil law matter not a criminal one,all the court needed to do was get an injunction and sue for unpaid royalties. The 'crime' here is basically unpaid income tax at the end of the day.

No, the "crime" here is fucking with companies that are worth more than your life is.

"Crime" doesnt exist unless you are an extremely wealthy entity.

Like i said, who pressed these records, why aren't they in trouble too.

Here is an example i used to give to people.

Google/Amazon/all the major film distributors all claimed that film streams online were/are illegal destroying their industries.

Go to megavideo to watch a stream, first thing you watch is an advert from Google or Amazon or indeed a trailer for an upcoming film.

So who is breaking the law, the site provider who actually only provides an upload mechanism, the uploader who may have no idea of global laws (some countries do not have copyright) or the complaining corporations with armies of legal advisers who complain non stop but then make sure that they still force feed adverts on this platform?

Why of course, it is the website provider and uploader ;)
