Djmadhatter
I have an old vestax pdx 2300 mkii proI'm hoping someone can tell me what exactly is wrong with it when it starts spinning sometimes it can last for a couple of minutes sometimes a couple of seconds of working finethen it just suddenly stops and just starts just kinda rocking backwards and forwards does this sound like the motor is shot or is it maybe some loose wiring or bad connectionsI really know nothing about electronics and am pretty doubtful that I could fix it myself unless there was a step by step guide hahaso basically can anyone tell me what could be wrong with it and if this would likely be something expensive to get fixed
Backtrack
I would check either the ultra-pitch or the regular pitch so that they work. The motor control probably doesn't get the frequency. Both a PDX and Technics behaves in the same way when it detects no "control" frequency. It jiggles back and forth.
dunknow
Don't know where you are in the country, but I'm in the south east and use Steve at Trusound http://www.trusound.co.uk He sorted out a PMC 07 for me a while ago and I'm about to send him a pdx motor to sort out the platter wobble. Reasonably priced and knows his stuff!

kebzer
This is a known defect on all PDXs. The motor gets busted and acts like that, because of problems with the pitch/ultra pitch faders. If you can afford it, get those pitch faders checked, they might need to be replaced.

Guest Symatic
there were a bunch of upgrade kits floating round on ebay recently that meant you could swap the PDX 2000's pich fader section for a 2300's. can't see em there anymore..... DJ Rock Well
I do actually have one of those going spare Si, but it's silver, for a 2300 mk1 and I have no idea if they are vaguely compatible even.
