Deft
This is starting to fuck me off now - who's got the top tips (without faff).I'm 99% sure it is my phone network antenna causing the issue. My Nexus 4 will barely do a day even if purely on standby, sitting on my home wifi and phone network. Airplane mode stops the battery drain and I am pretty sure wifi only mode is good as well (i.e. will do a decent 4-5 days on standby like my work iPhone). Battery usage breakdown doesn't show anything particularly interesting from memory.WHAT TO DO?
JHouse
I turned off most of the Google syncing, for the lame ass apps they forced onto my phone, and this has made a noticeable difference. It also totally minimized all the data hogging as my data usage started going through the roof even though I don't watch videos, use FaceBook, or use anything else that would eat data so quickly. I fuckin' hate Google and their forceful ways. Google = Evil
Deft
Well I left it overnight on wifi only and it is fine, 5 % battery use and predicted to last another 6 days. Basically my phone is great provided I turn off the phone function.
Frost
Turn off data network mode by pressing and holding the power button, this is only data so not calls/messages.
Deft
What is this power button trick? I can't duplicate it. I've turned my mobile data off now to test if it makes a difference, though weirdly it seems to knacker my phone signal totally.
Frost
On a Samsung S3~ you can just press and hold the power button on the side and the option comes up.
Chris
What about actually setting your network rather than having it auto scan for available networks? Maybe that'll make a difference..?
Deft
Could be worth a try. The switching off mobile data has basically fixed the battery drain. Still seems kind of stupid, some ridiculous 3G antenna power draw or something? I wonder if the signal here is a bit flakey and it keeps struggling to connect. Though I don't recall the other phones I have owned (or my work iPhone) being this stupid.
