djstig
Does anyone know how room tighten up the screws on the tonearm please?? There is a lot of play in the arm and I'd like to tighten it up to stop the noise. Is it the bearing screws or something?? One either side of the arm and one on top. Guest rasteri
There used to be a guide on how to do this on the old skratchlounge forum but that bit the dust recently. It's the same procedure as on technics though. Basically you have to figure out if the play is in the horizontal or vertical direction (you can check by wiggling the different parts of the suspension mechanism), then tighten the appropriate section of the suspension mechanism. The inner screw sets the bearing tightness, the outer ring fixes it at that setting. Note that you may only have to tighten the outer ring, if it's not tight that can cause wobble independently of the bearing tightness. Don't overtighten them, it's really easy to damage the bearings.
