Jimmy
wassssssssaaapppppp! (im bringing it back) i was just wondering if anyone knows of any decent midi controllers that will work good with serato. i dont have my heart set on getting one or anything, but if i kno of a product that can do what i want i'll get it. basically i could do with something that easily controls, cue points and fx, and maybe auto loop. i kno the dicers are great for cues/loops but i assume they cant do fx. doob has a really useful denon controller(http://www.westenddj...ment/DNHC1000S/)but again, i think thats quite awkward for effect use, is that right doob? i was looking into something like this...http://www.westenddj...ipment/XONE-1D/would that work? i kno i'd have to map it myself (is that well hard tho) faderfox stuff looks wicked, but again, im in the dark with that stuff. if i had traktor i'd just get an x1 or something, but i dont, so any help would be appreciated as im a bit of a noob with midi. fanks

d00ban
The denon is pretty wack with FX as you need to swap scenes first. I've heard the X1 is actaully pretty good. To be fair, serato FX are just a bit shit and hard to map whatever you have in my opinion, which is why Vekked's 62 comments seemed quite promising
Steve
i've heard it doesnt translate very well tho. Check out Konix's videos on it: - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qALRfhykqpY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOUemIhX04I At the start of the first one, he lists some other controllers too, but he's probably the most knowledgeable person I know when it comes to Serato and he favours the X1. Chris
The novation zero SL mk2 is really cool too if you don't mind mapping it (mapping is really easy in scratch live)

I met quite a few Serato users who swear by the X1 too.
Jimmy
mmm, thanks guys. for some reason i have a personal vendetta against NI, im not sure why, i just dont like them, in the same way i dont like Florence and the Machine. i probly wont buy one if the X1 is the best option. broma
You can always do it on the cheap and get something like this and just assign all the stuff however suits you: http://www.westenddj.co.uk/Product/AKAI/Computer_Audio/LPD8/ It's what I ended up doing. It's not perfect by any means but gets the job done and is light and portable.
Chee
You can always do it on the cheap and get something like this and just assign all the stuff however suits you: http://www.westenddj...ter_Audio/LPD8/ It's what I ended up doing. It's not perfect by any means but gets the job done and is light and portable. I just bought an Akai LPD8 today, I had been looking at the Novation Dicers for a little while but decided that I wanted the knobs for controlling Serato's DJ FX. It's definitely not perfect, but for the price point its a great piece of kit. Much has been said about Akai's build quality, and the LPD8 seems to follow this tradition. I had no problems mapping the pads and knobs in SSL, but didn't seem to find a use for the Control and CC functions. It's too bad that there are only 8 pads total, so you can't really map the 5 cue points you can set in SSL per turntable. But still, from my tinkering today, I'm happy with my purchase.
