ericuk
Never really liked his style and thought he was sloppy and messy. I Always thought he was out of place to stand next to the likes of Qbert etc. Anyone else agree or am I bang out of order?
djdiggla
I think it's hard to compare him to Qbert. Nobody is like him, that's for sure. And he is sloppy--especially by todays standards. He's legit tho. But I don't really like listening to him b/c he is so hard and rough sounding... like the punk rock of turntablism.
d00ban
Yeah he just does go skitz, but it is raw and full of energy, I bet I'd be wicked live! He a crowd rocker not a full on scratcher
muzzell
qbert wouldnt be where he is without him tho..
Steve
I'd rather go and see MMM live than Qbert, but I do agree with what you're getting at, Eric.
Guest Symatic
I like the messy style, he always seems like he's freestyling
ericuk
He sure can rock a crowd and that's got to be the thing that matters, but I just don't find his style entertaining. maybe I'm being a bit anal about the whole thing. Maybe I'm stuck in an era, but give me a set of P-Trix or Babu beat juggling over MMM any day of the week.
Mike Menace
MMM is better live just cos of his energy, but Q-bert is good to see if your into scratching; but just about anyone can watch mike and i bet they would enjoy it heres a video i took of the serial wax killer in manchester last year: http://www.youtube.com/user/MicMenny?feature=mhum#p/a/u/0/mmJshmGBhnA
arkei
MMM is the creator of the "don't give a fuck" style, but in a good way. Oh and his facial expression are priceless...
djfoly
Don't get it twisted. This guys style is a bit mental but technically what he is trying to do particularly with stabs and drum cutting and the like is still ground breaking if you analyse it. There are patterns and cuts that only he and maybe shorkut can do with stabs and scribbles....it depends what your in to I suppose!
Wax On
I <3 MMM - he's my fave turntablist no doubt
djdiggla
Yeah, his stabs and transforms are beyond most.
rchecka
I Love Mix Master Mike, he's definitely on top of my list for turntablists. and I REALLY want that White Zombie record he mixed in the beginning of that set, how dope is that?!
