Steve
Windows 7 displays thumbnails of video files, but only for supported codecs. If you download HD MKV files, then Windows 7 won't display a thumbnail for them and you'll just get a generic icon instead. To get thumbnail support for MKV files in Windows 7, download and install the DivX Plus Tech Preview: - http://labs.divx.com/mkvwin7preview Scroll down the page to the part where it says "Click HERE to download without registering as part of the DivX for Windows software bundle." and click the word "HERE". If you only want MKV support and you don't need anything else that's included in the DivX package, uncheck everything apart from "DivX Plus Tech Preview: MKV on Windows 7" during the install process. As soon as the install is complete, you'll have MKV thumbnail support: - http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/9623/mkvu.jpg If you use your Xbox 360 as an extender for Windows Media Center, installing this will also allow you to stream MKV files to your 360 through WMC without using any other third party software, or transcoding the files to a different format.
