Wax On
My mate's looking to replace the carts/Styli/Headshells on his 1210's. He's not got techs headshells, so he'd be looking for either headshell and carts, or conchords/diablos or equivalent. anyone know what's a reasonable cheap option which is suitable for a bit of scratching? djdiggla
This is your best cheap but still great choice:http://www.turntablelab.com/dj_equipment/40/16/1869.html The SC35C is Shure's classic workhorse, a highly durable cartridge with skip-resistance comparable to the M44G. Before the 44 series came out, everyone was using these and many hip hop djs still swear by them. The sound quality is about the same as the 447 (heavy on bass response), with an output of 5.0mV. They are a bit more rugged than the M44 series, but they also put more wear on your records. An excellent beginner to intermediate choice. Wax On
On HTFR you can get Stanton diablo's for £65for a pair, and they're concordes so he won't need headshells either. I've recommended them to him.
djdiggla
I hate concords personally, and the Craze edition Stanton needles sucked so bad I will never buy Stanton needles again.
Giraffe Dung
The Diablos are alright, nothing special tracking or sound quality wise but I'd say better than the 505 and the standard Ortofon Concord and if you've no headshells they're probably the best value you can get...
