Gizmo
AFAIK Apple don't sell old versions of OS X. You should jump right to 10.5.
Dice
Will there be any problems upgrading to that? Thanks btw.
Gizmo
When you upgrade OS X, it offers the option to do an "archive and install", essentially backing up your user data into a "previous systems" folder and then if you wish, it'll migrate that user data into the new install. I'd always advise a full backup anyway before attempting anything - just to be safe. Something like Superduper will create a complete bootable mirror of your hard disk to anther drive should something go wrong.
