2ndhand
I'm sure you have seen them atari joysticks, that have "classic" games built in.They really are playable. I bought my daughter a spongebob squarepants one for xmas. its has 5 spongebob games. the best one is like "arkanoid". really addictive.one bears a striking resembelance to r-type (but it's sandy's surfboard adventure)one of the games is incredibly similar to sabre wulf on the ZX Spectrum. i'd like to see one of these "console controllers" with a memory card slot, so mame roms could be fed into it. Steve
I was playing a Namco one in the Gadget Shop a while ago. The MAME slot idea is a really good one. If companies licensed the ROMS they would make some money from it. I'd get one if they were cheap (although I'd download the ROMS). The hardware wouldn't have to be all that powerful either. How old is your daughter now Grae?
Guest $mooth
How about a MAME cabinet with all the roms? that would be cool.
2ndhand
she's 4 1/2. i think the spongebob games would drive her mad. they are fairly hard. but the thing is meant for ages 3+ she can play sonic 2 on the megadrive though. sega ought to make a megadrive controller with the old sega classics built in. they'd sell plenty. the mame idea is hawt. i bet those atari controllers hold all the necessary components to "host" atari 2600 games. just need some boffin to mod one.
