- NEW - The GreenHouse

Recommended Posts

Hi, a good friend and me started out The GreenHouse.

I'm a turntablist, beatboxer and a lil bit of producer and beat-creator.

My friend (Samoerai) is the main mc for PhatMark and also beat-creator.

So we started out making hiphop instrumentals.

If you have any comments or feedback, it would be much appreciated.

Anyway, here are some direct links to my songs

hiya, welcome :) i listened to all the tracks, thought the third one in your list was probably the best, the snare was nice and snappy. in general your choice of instrumentation in the arrangement was cool- it often sounds like a replayed sample. in that respect workin on the mix to get the different instruments to bed a bit better would be my main bit of feedback :) nice work

Thanx for the great feedback,

what exactly do you mean by imbedding instrumentation?

Would you add some reverb to it to have that effect ?

ow, and for Z-fonk,.. it's partly samples I rexed up with Recycle and then I used the slices to create something new via midikeyboard, that's my main way of working.

Are there better ways to sample in Reason (or outside it ??).

I've yet to check many tutorials, but I'm willing to learn.

cheers

nah imo your current method audio editor>recycle>dr rex/nn xt is the best way to get samples into reason yeah. As far as getting the instrumentation to sit better, yeah a bit of reverb here and there and some thoughtful panning really helps. A handy guide is to a/b your work with something you have that does feel really comes together well. not necessarily to try and copy the mix but to listen to general dynamics- i quite often find when i can't get things to sound quite on point that i'm placing too much focus on a particular track- usually the drums.

hth...
