Steve
This almost makes iPods worth buying. Amongst other things, it adds support for FLAC and Ogg Vorbis files, plus gapless playback which is always useful. Info here: - http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main...ures_of_Rockbox You can install it on iRiver, iAudio, Archos and iPod players. Some themes for it here: - http://www.rockbox-themes.org/index.php?res=320x240x16

decisive
ah i was looking at one of those iaudio ones, i'm sure they were way more expensive about 3 months ago! cheers for the heads up. who wants to buy a kidney?
Steve
iPods are cheap compared to some other models, but I'd rather pay the extra and get an iAudio, iRiver or Creative. It really depends what features you need though.
monophonic
wow, nice find! btw..there is an alternative for iPods: iPodLinux i tested the alpha version on my 4G which was ok, some bugs really sucked though... they developed a whole bunch of software for iPods, like iNes, a nintendo emulator and added a lot of functions like ogg & Flac support, gapless playing and so on. edit: after a look into the manual...well Rockbox seems to be more advanced than iPodLinux - apart from the feature that iPodLinux lets you coose if you you want to boot in Apples OS or in Linux anytime you reboot..
