I actually hide alot of symbols and refrences in my paintings. For example...The screws in his shoulders look alot like... I did not really plan it that way it just came about. This last robot was for my cousin. He plays piano. I also put a symbol on his heart that is a tattoo he and her girlfriend have. I know what you mena by straight forward style I think, because I have alot that are not so straight foreword.
