I'm just telling him my anecdotal evidence as an average user. I have both systems... I can tell you with no word of a lie that the windows machine (for me) is more of a ball ache. It's probably something I've got set up wrong and if I knew how I could fix it, I could, but alas, I cannot.

I have a Mac and a PC before anyone goes at me about being a fanboy. But when my wife told my friend that she'd had her Macbook for 7 years he was astounded. He'd gone through a tonne of laptops in the same amount of time.

Word, I think I had 16 GB of RAM in my old one and have 16 GB RAM in this one. I think it's the CPU which makes this one deal with things much better. I can run Ableton projects and quite intensive plugins on this on (Like Serum) with no issues. Serum used to bugger up my old one no end. I also have a really massive SSD in this one (1TB)... But that wasn't cheap I tell you.

Mine 2012 died coz of the chipset. It was upgraded to shit. Had SD card in the optical drive as well as normal HDD. That being said, Serato runs waaaaay better on my newer 2015 Macbook. The old one got sluggish when the library was big and I got audio dropouts. I have no issues with the new Macbook and the latency is good. Just noticed you're on about Traktor not Serato but I've typed this now, so might as well post it.

Does such a thing exist? Like at the moment I have to pull cables out everytime I switch between my computer and my decks. I know I can make a set up using a mixer, and have done this in the past, but honestly, it's more hassle than it's worth for my needs. Is there just like a switch I can use that I can plug both sets of cables in to, which then go into the speakers? If so, what's it called? Should I be looking at DI boxes with a certain feature? Ha fuck me, Whilst reaching for my headphones to listen to this I knocked my external drive off the computer. I then panicked and gave it the 'listen' to see if it was fucked or not. What I heard, of course, was this music faintly through my headphones. I was certain the hard drive was shafted for sure!
