no, it's for drum loop samples if you load a drum loop into it, it will set markers at each 'hit', depending on the sensitivity you set then it saves them out as seperate wave files and a midi file so when you load it up in a sequencer it plays back identically but then you can rearrange the notes to get different beats i think it was used a lot in jungle back in the day it was also good for changing tempo of a sample, before pc's could timestretch as easily as they do now
