  1. ok, vekked's been loving these lists lately, so i thought i'd throw one in. Name a track, performance, album, artist, whatever, that people MUST listen to, and a reason why. Example; you must listen to..... Rockit Because.................. It influenced a generation of tablists.
  2. yeah, but can i afford a rc50? and are they even available yet? anyway, the question still remains, can i drop different layers in and out of the mix with the use of the additional foot pedals? anyone really familiar with this machine able to tell me more about it?
  3. well, i'm thinking of getting one, i like what i've seen done with one. the one real question i have about it though is what can be done with the extra foot pedals if you get them as well. I wanna layer drums, then a bassline, then a melody, then do some scratching over the top, or whatever, but then, i wanna be able to take the bassline out for 4 bars, and then drop it back in. Or take the drums out, and then drop them back in. Is that possible with the Boss pedal if you combine it with the add on pedals? Cheers peace out

    SuperSeal

yeah, it feels kind of shameful, but of course i own it. All the classic samples are on there, it's skipless, the record sounds good, and it was cool to have while i worked my way through Qberts DIY volume 1. Plus, if you just show up to scratch with a band, you can always depend on scratchy seal to have a sample that's half way decent.
  5. yeah, i've downloaded it a couple of times from the gmail account. I just download it, and double click on the sscombogen.exe_renamed file. my computer says no deal! as i wrote this, i realised, the file is called, .exe_renamed That's why my computer couldn't recognise it. I just had to rename it .exe and it's all good now cheers
  6. how do you install this thing? it's a .exe file, but when i click on it, my computer says "do you want to use the web service to find the file extension" Sorry for being a fool, i'm sure there's some kind of manual install thing, but i don't know how to do that shit. cheers for da help
  7. My computer just seems to need more and more video/audio players. How many do i need to allow me to watch anything i download? Sometimes things open in Realplayer, or in wondows media player, or quicktime. Is there one that does it all so i can ditch the rest? Cheers, peace out.
  8. wow, what's not to like about the 909 crossfader? smooth, and adjustable tension, and adjustable cut in. what more could you want?
  9. awesome work dude, i've been working on some similar stuff on my 909 using the hold echo function, but after hearing this i want a loop pedal!
  10. so noone sees any potential in this thing? wierd, i know it's not exactly the best made thing or anything, but surely there's some sort of idea here that some company could take on board and make a portable thing. like the QFO, but properly portable.
  11. yep, totally depends on the record. most hip hop is a little over a revolution per bar. drum and bass is closer to 2 bars per revolution. most people juggle hip hop though, hence the example. that outta space track i-emerge juggled for the dmc's is about 133 BPM though, which equates to exactly one revolution per bar. i think.
  12. OK, HE'S GAY!!! now leave him to his bumsex, and look at the portable turntable?! Doesn't anyone else see the possibilities of this. It's like a lofi QFO!!
  13. it's a little over a revolution depending on what your juggling. here's the basic idea. mark the place the first hit of the first bar is(when the music starts) watch the record spin, and you'll see how much rotation it takes for one bar. When your juggling bar after bar of a whole song, what you basically do is watch that 12 o'clock sticker, and watch for when it hits the beat you wanna double. say it hits it at 2 o'clock. Now you can let it play for say 2 bars, and with practise you'll know in your head "i have to spin it back twice, and then land on 2'oclock. Try juggling 2 unmarked records in this way. just use the label as a guide. provided you try to think 2 moves ahead, you'll be fine. U have to realise you'll have to spin back to that snare that's about to drop on your right hand side in a second, so have a quick glance at the right hand record, watch the snare drop, and now you know what position it's in. make sense?
  14. yes, i do concur, blue was a bad choice, i would have chosen a nice shade of pink myself, but could we all try to look past the nail polish please? what do you think of the turntable?!
  15. have a look at this, and let me know what you think. Some dude's cool turntable I wanna make one, but i wanna make one with a proper crossfader attached, and i wanna try to eliminate "the popping" sound attached to it. I wanna sit around the camp fire and play my turntable like those bloody hippies with their guitars always do! How would you make it better? peace out
  16. yeah, mayb, i've got the vestax melody record, but of course, i'm still rocking technics, so you're kind of limited in the notes you can play on it unless you've got mad record control. Pulled out the fader synthe at rehearsal the other day and the band went bananas for it, so i'm gonna try and stick it out and see what i can do with it. me thinks it goes up in whole notes though, so i'm gonna have to get creative to make it work. Maybe set it up on both channels, so one channel is playing the sharp notes, and one channel is playing the regular notes, and i can juggle between the two? hey that'll work! ok, so if i set my value to 132 on one fader, and i get all the regular notes, where do you think i need to set the other one to get the sharp notes?
  17. wow, um hmmm, ok, here's how it breaks down. (i think) on the touch screen, you can choose different frequencies, 66, 132, 264, 528, etc, up to 4224. so press the button, and that's the frequency you get? If you want a frequency of say, 85, you can turn a knob marked "time/select" to choose that one too. in this case, the mix depth knob acts as a volume knob. Now, as you move the fader up and down, you get different notes, kind of like you're playing a piano with a fader. But i don't know whether the notes go in semitones, or whole notes, or what. Anyone have a 909 and a guitar tuner maybe?
  18. ok, pretty crazy, but here's the question. I want to play a lead line for my band on the 909 fader synthe1, but i'm unsure exactly how i'm going to get the notes right. The synthe is just a sine wave, and you can adjust the frequency of the sine wave. Anyone got any ideas as to whether there is some formula to convert sine wave frequencies to musical notes? They've already written the lead line on guitar, I've just got to get it going on the fader synthe. Does this make sense to you guys? cheers, peace out
  19. for some reason it won't work on my computer from that site. I don't know why
  20. oh, i meant i wanted to check out his set at crazes, to see how much better it was than the dmc set
  21. hey dudes, for some reason i can't watch this. Any chance of someone usendingit or something? Really wanna check this out
  22. Cheers for the help on this guys! loving the 1 1/2 time now. I can't like count it in my head or anything like that, you're right, you just kinda got to do it, and hope for the best. Didn't really use chirp flares much up until this point, but damn they sound nice! Cheers again for the help, you've helped me get on past a plateau i'd hit! oh, and re: hamster, no i cut regular, and furthermore, hamsters DO NOT go in the bum!
  23. save ya money and try and find yourself a 707 instead. rad faders, and that's about it. what else do you want?
