i was thinking about going with a dell inspiron 1420. It's for the girlfriend so it's only going to see web browsing and word processing, nothing super intense. Is it a good buy, or is there something in the same price range that's way cooler.

i reckons... kill the beat after the chick sings, introduce a new instrument, and then bring back a beat, either a slightly modified one, or a completely different one. if it was me i'd bring in a really nasty nasty heavy bassline, then bring the beat back a bit different, but that's just me, i like nasty basslines. I like all scratched tracks because they chop and change a lot. get some more of that in there. But that said, i reckon it's a damn fine track.

i've always thought some of my farts would make wicked basslines. Plus i'd get a bit of a giggle every time i saw someone dancing to the sounds of my farts.

anyone know of any vj software that's any good. In particular, i'm looking for a pretty specific function. 1. hit pad on MPC to make noise and send midi message. 2. Corresponding video clip is triggered by midi message. for example, i hit a pad with a ukelele sample on it, and on the screen a video clip of a dude playing the ukelele will play. I guess i would want it to do other things as well, but for now that's the only thing i know I really want it to be able to do. any ideas?

of course, should have been way more specific, cheers for all the help guys, but i was thinking way more electronic. At the moment the band i'm making is gonna be all electronic 1 guy playing 3 synths me Playing MPC1000, MPD24 and turntable/mixer so, yeah, still hip hop through to breaks and drum and bass, but it's all electronic, and more importantly it's not sequenced, so all the drumming and everything happens live. The only guys i've ever really seen doing it are hifana, but i was hoping there might be some others out there somewhere.

not happening fast enough for my liking. I made a prediction 2 years ago that 5 years from that day cd's would barely be getting sold at all, and HMV's would turn into wierd futuristic coffee shops, with download kiosks everywhere, and big comfy couchs for people to chill on, drink coffee and listen to music. Only 3 years to go!!

True that, most breaks these days is absolute tripe, nothing more than a house beat with snares on the 2 and 4. In my mind breaks peaked mayb 3 or 4 years ago. Dudes like Dj Mutiny, Quest, Distortionz, Breakfastaz, Ed209 were doing wicked things. The drums were gnarly and they were broken, not this predictable plodstep that seems to be flooding the scene now. and the basslines were huge and scary and ten different kinds of rad. Of couse i don't know what breaks you like either, but i will upload a mix of some of my old faves and see what you think of them. Peace p.s. breaks is a wicked genre to cut to, i'd much rather cut over that than double timing over slow hip hop. each to their own though.

yo, that whirring sound was the result of the automatic timestretch and/or delay that recycle adds to slices. when using recycle follow these steps for WAY better results. 1. make sure original drums loop (do this in soundforge or other similar editing software, 1 bar, 2 bar, 1/2 bar, whatever. 2. open loop in recycle 3. type in how many bars and beats your loop is in space provided 4. you will see a BPM appear in BPM section. 5. Adjust this to round number for ease of use, (turn 101.59 to 102 for instance). 6. Adjust sensitivity slider until slices look right. 7. Listen to individual slices and add/remove/move slices where appropriate. This is the bit that fixes your problem. 8. Adjust timestretch and delay until all hits sound good when played seperately.(no extra "reverse sounding, whirring noise") 9. Export individual wav files and mid file 10. Use hits and mid file in sequencer of choice. (MPC1000 for me) Sorry if this post is obvious or stupid to anyone using recycle, but when i got it i didn't really understand exactly what it did, and a tutorial i found in an MPC book helped me out. Just sharing what i found. Peace out

cool thanks man. the eventual plan is to my decks, mpc and synths running into the mackie and out one of the sends, into the rc20xl, rc20xl back into one channel of the mackie, and then that channel out the main outs. My initial problem i was having was i was using a cable with a resistor in it apparently. stuffed everything right up. peace out, posting loop track soon.

hey guys, how do i hook this thing up? at the moment i'm running from mixer to the instrument input, and then from the output into my mackie VLZ mixer. Is this right? i'm barely getting any volume at all out of my speakers. i know i've stuffed something up. help?

Step 1 Ipod or not, he couldn't care less. Although mayb an ipod would be handy, so he could get the i-trip and use it in his car too? do other mp3 players offer something similar? Step 2 He's a personal trainer, manages a gym and general fitness freak. Mayb a hard drive would be a bad idea, but i would still like him to have a decent archive of songs on there. Step 3 money isn't really much of a concern, the whole family is pooling money for the present, so i'll just get whatever suits him best. Does that narrow down the field?
