Check this blog, tons of 80s mixes, some really good http://themixtapeworld.blogspot.com/ Also check mixcloud, especially for the Ben Liebrand Grandmixes from 84-89, quality stuff.
My comment to Steve applies to both battles: I almost wanted to give up judging the DV, it was so difficult. Jimmy your style has progressed a lot, and I had to watch both your set and Chin's a lot of times, but in the end I gave it to Chin for a couple of combos that sounded very funky to my ears. However you did a great job !
I'm after the 'This was a goddamn slaughter' sample, that D-Styles uses a lot. I know the original is from the 'Phony as you wanna be' by GZA (Genious), I want to know which battle record/tool is the pitched down version from, that D is using. Thank you for any enlightment.
I also discovered Cool Kids very recently. I think they did some stuff with Klever a few years ago. Their beats are really dope to cut to, good job uptown.
