  1. The one here in the States seems to be dead, too. There were a lot of complaints about last year's US ITF battles, and there aren't gonna be any this year. And I wanted a shot at the beat juggle title I wish someone would come over and bring it back.
  2. I had a pair of TTX1s that I traded in for some Technics 1200 mk2s. The only reason I traded them in so that I could do my best at battles. If I didn't want to win a DMC regional eventually, I'd still have them. My TTX1s put up with LOTS of stress for months, they never failed me. Personally, I'd pick up another pair if I had the money laying around. I loved mine.
  3. I'm not denio, but I've got some TTX1s. I haven't had a single problem with it. The platter and everything works great.
  4. That's an awesome set-up. I wish I could be in a dj crew here. Especially to make music like Gunkhole. No one in my hometown has the time to do that, though.
  5. No way! The original artist shouldn't get a credit or payed, when there's millions of people ripping off music left right and centre? Fuck that. If you can't play an instrument well enough to make your own shit, go learn to play something, I say. Sampling should not be free, but they should maybe relax the laws a little bit. You are basically stealing, or at the very least, recycling someone elses music and making enough changes to it to get away with calling it your own. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I 100% agree.
  6. Hey man cool it on that homophobic shit. Anyway- if you don't want to have to pay sample clearance, just write all the music yourself. It isn't rocket science. Yes, I've done it before. I mean, yeah, in battling and a lot of other turntablist stuff the use of sampling can't really be helped. And I don't think that copyright laws really apply to things like competition. But this is songwriting we're talking about. If you're going to sell your music, it should either be 100% original or you should just hush and clear whatever sample you're using. That's just my opinion, though.
  7. But who's "our"? Are you in a crew?
  8. I listened to your file, Veteran. My question is: so the clovers don't really need a full stop in-between? Cause I've been putting a lot of effort into making them like, stacatto, you know, stops in between them. And it seems like yours are more fluid? I don't even know if I'm making sense.
  9. She's made that much music?! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nah, I meant that I have 110-120 records in general. I have about 6 or 7 of her records, not including doubles.
  10. Nelly Furtado. And, I have about 110-120 records.
  11. LOL. I'm right-handed, but I scratch with my left hand on the record. I dunno, it just seems natural to do that, for me. And I play guitar and french horn and piano, too, so I already do a lot with my left hand. So it isn't so bad.
  12. That looks amazing! Wish I could go.
  13. I think that he did it to get into the world finals, too. If you watch the usa finals, yeah, his skills would be average. But to say that he sucks like someone did in this thread is going way overboard. I got my copy of the 2004 World Finals some days ago. I liked it (though I've seen the us finals and I like it SO much more). I personally think that Merge won it fair and square, but Rafik (and Staen and that guy from New Zealand) brought SERIOUS heat to the competition.
  14. I really work on my clovers. For some reason, I feel that if I can do them fast (at maybe 95 bpms?) then I'll somehow have made it to the next level of scratching. I think it's a hard scratch, IMO.
