  1. I dont know about anything else, other than that pioneer controller. Hell probably hack that next.
  2. Ok, hang on let me edit this This video is from Rasteri who is the baddest mfer in dj gear, undisputed. He hacked the chip in this mixer and changed the auto cuts to actual scratches, which proves (again) hes a genius, but it proves that auto cuts can be useful. I think (as I posted on here years ago about my own tinkering with my 06 samurai) that by using the auto cuts (not just for their auto functions, but in conjunction with manual cutting) that entirely new scratches can be created.
  3. Tinkering around with my 06 samurai, It was clear that there was potential in those built-in cut patterns, and WOW !
  4. Ok, so i`m an idiot Plugged in a 15 volt power supply. The proper one is 7 volts. The entire mixer still works, but the cf "pops" like a diy passive fader Anyone got ideas what fried. (My grandpa eyes cant see anything) here's the back of the powerboard https://imgur.com/kkOI1Iy
  5. I wont get into a sound quality debate, cause i guess its subjective But the difference in recording into the laptop versus into this tascam portastudio ive had for 15 years is obvious to me. I wouldnt hesitate to buy a new one. Its like $250 and worth it.(unless the new ones are crap compared to old ones)
  6. Can you not just buy shit these days? Tip of the iceberg. I keep expecting to get a letter from levis saying that my purchase was an acceptance of a user agreement, wherein i agreed to pay 10% of any moneys earned while in said pants, and that the rfid tag had alerted them to my presence at work x numbers of days in them, and here is my bill.
  7. That's why we listen to scratching! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sneV27aP25k Cant argue with that. If only those guys could rap, like that dude scratches
  8. Ok, thats a good way to look at it. So, its like a modern version of the fat boys? Those tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick beats, though. Makes my head hurt. Guess im just old
  9. For me it hit bottom when i was on my motorcycle, at a stoplight, and the entire time i dont give a f, b i dont give a f over and over, no other words, was coming out of the car beside me. I thought well, you cared enough to write the song so they are not only musically and lyrically crippled, theyre conflicted too
  10. Ahh does have a shape, a decreasing amplitude over time. Its like a mini-tone with incremental pitch shifts built in. Whats another way to graph decreasing/time? Im all for pulse energy theories, as soon as possible, and moving paste wave theories, but I cant say that waves visualizations are arbitrary just yet. As most energy moves across time, it should dissipate inward and/or outword and create that triangle/egg shape if graphed. Im guessing that ahh works well for scratching, because it can be expanded, yet retain its ratio.
  11. Werent they taking otders for these about 6 months ago, for $6200? Id love to have one, but thats just ridiculous
  12. Maybe fresh is a cross-section of a full torroid, where ahh is only a cross-section of one half of a torroid. I think this might be one of those ah-hah deals where when were in the old folks home, this will finally makes sense. Its just gotta be elemental in some way
  13. having became interested in "the shapes that nature chooses", "the proportions" and the shape of the egg, the pine cone, tornadoes, infinite regression, etc. it occurred to me, as I was trying to give a quick class in "where I find these scratch samples" (Sc5000 scratching at the san jose GC) that the shape I look for when scrolling through audio files, looking for stuff that will scratch well, is the oval, or triangle, or mix of the two. and Ahh has this shape, too the reason it felt possibly meaningful, was that i frequently wonder why we do this. my theories began with simply "touching sound" but have moved to "controlling time" I can't really pull any more meaning out of all of this, but I thought some of you might have some insights or experiences. I guess I just hope that all this messing with these sounds has some importance. (around this time i also started looking at the golden mean growth pattern which appears to grow by 2/3 or 66.6, which made me wonder if that number is the victim of a smear campaign to hide the real number of life. so maybe we're being called to tinker with this ahh sample by someone or something that knows something we don't, and those sounds have some ability to create)
  14. Those scratches you made in the records dont provide enough resistance to do anything. Thats not me teaching you cause Im sure youve found it out already. You shared, we all discussed, and through that discussion, a good starting point for a new type of vinyl; one with holes/slots cut in it, was reached. We all benefit.
  15. No. Ive learned that lesson. WTF, Ahh, not sure what this means, can you clarify? The point is to start a movement and come up with some coo scratch ish, that's why I share things and even show my design books to get the wheels flowing and brain juices going... Are you saying you don't want to share what you have so far cuase someone will bite your ish? If that's what you are implyint then we are done home skillet...:-).. You don't see the irony?... Post a file foo, this ain't your personal forum with free consulation, it's intended for all the Scratch Nerdom...shhh Starting to regret the whole thing.... The devices i have arent free Theres no dj santa clause hooking me up I have cool toys, cause i work, buy, experiment Its expensive I contribute information in equal measure to what i take
  16. Can you uploade a pic of your mod? No. Ive learned that lesson.
  17. Ooo... Yes! Instead of scratched in lines, fully cut through gaps of varying widths! It would look kinda like those metsl playters they put on the pt01
  18. I wonder if nails could be placed under the record, then put it in oven, heat until soft, and would leave raised lines.
  19. all the ones i tried to make like this ended up slicker than a normal record and no good for hydroplane. the scratched-in lines took away the "stickiness" of the record i tried burning lines in with a solder iron, same problem they need to be raised
  20. do the bumps, like woody's grind strip different sizes, spaced at different lengths apart then, in the middle, do spiraling, progressively smaller and closer together, pyramid bumps, so the finger will slide off the side (not over the top)
  21. Definitely dont want to scratch on phone screen ttables. What i want doesnt exist. So i make do. The first time i built a fader into the 5500, that was close. When i put the battery inside even closer. The new cue button helps, but most of my favorite tricks are involved manipulating the cue and platter at same time, and device fails, and track keeps playing even though Im holding the platter.
  22. Whats to stop someone from just putting a uca 202 in a project box, and glueing an iphone out the outside? Instant, portable dvs
  23. Not very interested in midi. Rather cut audio (even if from phone) with audio mixer. Its just better. I ran traktor scratch dvs, with behringer 202, on dell venue 8 pro just fine.
  24. yep, one phone plays the beat, the other is the scratch deckHave you tried the Mixfader app? I used to play with touch screen scratching before getting a deck and then the portablism addiction later. I used to use it with the stokyo kutter as the control was amazing. There's other apps that allow one device to split the output to the mixer and then Scratch with each deck. I am probably not telling you anything you don't already know but I did a lot of touch screen portable scratching before vinyl came in to the setup so I can try share any information that isn't really mentioned much if you want or need anything. I spent a lot of time with editing VDJ skins for use with touch screen windows tablets and netbooks but the whole DVS thing killed most interest in the actual use of the device to scratch. Anyway I hope this makes sense lol but if not good luck with the enclosure. I have seen some DJ stands for phones and tablets that mount to mixers that can be used for the frame maybe. the mixfader app is great (my favorite) as a dvs app. it's not very good for scratching "ON" the phone screen, because you can't rewind very well it's one of those quirky anomalies that the best on-screen turntable is this small one on the phone screen, again because you can quickly rewind and get back to the front of the sample right now, i'm really exploring ideas around "full mixer/battery powered with as small as feasible platters (which would hopefully become motorized at some point)" i just don't see the point in bothering with anything that isn't a fully integrated scratch device -one scratch deck -one loop deck -cues for each -crossfader -channel faders -3 band eq for each channel -speaker -all battery powered -roughly the size of a 17" laptop BUT.... I'm also tinkering with a hs5500, on battery, with a mixer inside, and eq knobs down each side. this is better(as a scratcher), but it's bigger and heavier, and i just don't know if I would actually lug it around
