Shure discontinues ALL carts and styli :(
csharp replied to virak's topic in EQUIPMENT & AUDIO PRODUCTION
Im only 2 weeks into using these Jico glow in the dark 447 styli but so far so good. No complaints so far and I’ve only really used on actual records to do mediocre cuts. -

I'm in the US so this might not be helpful but I was able to order about half a dozen of n447s and n44gs from Music123.com for $29 each. They are allegedly going to ship out in about a month. Might be worth a shot? -

Im a big fan of 44gs. I prefer them to 7s. Less harsh sounding to my ears and stick just as good. -

I did just place an order with Jico for both G and 7s (why are the glow in the dark ones cheaper than the regular tho? Go figure). Will let you know how they hold up after a few months of the same half a dozen or so scratches 😂 -

Ive tried placing orders for half a dozen or so G styli with 4 shops now...each order has been canceled. Looks like it might already be a wrap? -

Any leads on a decent price for the 12 packs of gs or 7s? I prefer the gs but 7s would do in a pinch. -
Pro X Fade as upfaders in Vestax 05/06?
csharp replied to csharp's topic in EQUIPMENT & AUDIO PRODUCTION
I finally filed down the post and have it all soldered...but when I tried out a Pro X Fade as crossfader in my 06, it cuts in the middle of the throw, not the sides. I have it soldered to the "official" loom according to the diagram here - http://proxfade.co.uk/shop/?product=original-pxf-wire-loom What did I do wrong? Thanks for your help! -
Pro X Fade as upfaders in Vestax 05/06?

Turns out - and it's probably no surprise if you ask my wife - I was the most wrong. These $.50 caps 1.) feel hella cheap 2.) don't fit. -

From a post I found elsewhere, the description is incorrect and they do indeed fit. I have a package on the way and will let you know who's the most wrong, famalam. -

I guess you can beat $19/fader after all. Savwar...is it still tall with a EB cap? -

Pro X Fade as upfaders in Vestax 05/06?

Nevermind...I can answer that question myself by just comparing the stem to that of a Vestax fader. My bad. -

You got it, Savwar. How much do you think I need to file down the stem? Can't beat $19/fader. -
I got a good deal on some Pro X Fade faders and want to give it a shot. Any reason this won't work?

Stokyo Mix Edition slipmats vs regular
csharp replied to djdiggla's topic in EQUIPMENT & AUDIO PRODUCTION
I prefer the mix edition mats too. Big fan. A++ gold star slipmats (to be fair, I was using the classic combo - regular felt mats and waxpaper - til I switched). -
Thank you JB!

They just sent me a bunch of eq knobs and fader knobs for $0...didn't even charge shipping. Customer service like that'll be missed.

I'm in Virginia in the US. Would a photo of the guts be helpful or not really?

Thank you Jam Burglar! It's just the headphones thankfully. The master outs are good to go. Do you think I need to send it off to somebody like Jesse Dean or should an all purpose electronics repair shop be able to handle it? Appreciate the advice!

Does anybody know how to fix a headphone preamp that is not responding when I adjust the volume knob? It's super loud and distorted, even tried to keep the volume as low as I could and use an external headphone preamp but it still sounds horrible. I replaced the cue fader because it was bleeding but no dice. Same output from both jacks, too. This was my first "good" mixer (big upgrade from a Gemini Trickmaster in '98 or so) and I'd love to be able to use it again for my weekly radio show. I also got have one of those "rare" red faceplates on it (can't remember when or how I got it?) so I'm committed. Nostalgia is a hell of a drug. Thank you in advance for your help!
