  1. Heh, its funny as I alway felt the same way about twiddling 2click orbits that I did about crabs - even though I really liked how my buddy's twiddled 2 clickers sounded. Now I have an overly steep learning curve when trying to learn to twiddle autobahns and boomerangs (and will likely never learn them as there's so much other stuff to catch up on). At the end of the day, I support anything that people enjoy doing that sounds good to them.
  2. I've always been a fan of crabs as I love how they sound, particularly as a 3 click flare. That said, I've also tried (and continue to try) not to over use them as I always felt like there was a stigma around them as being "too easy" or "cheating". I still find myself cringing a bit internally when I do them, but really enjoying how they sound when listening to a recording later on. Self hating crabber ftl.
  3. Designating click groupings actually seems like a pretty good addition to scratch notation in general. I'm surprised that a line designating click groups hasn't been built in over all these years.
  4. Thanks man. I've been practicing but still can't get these past the second speed you do in the vid (and not super clean). I'll keep at it, but man - respect. They sound so ill when you do em.
  5. As an oldschool head picking up new scratches, I'm stoked you asked this question! Dope combo I wasn't aware of but that feels a lot more natural than the boom flare or broken orbits. This made my day - thanks! Edit: I'd add that learning scratch notation should probably be priority #1 (imo) as it's pretty simple and offers much needed insight to sometimes intricate and indecipherable Youtube vids. Just my $0.02
  6. Great tutorial. When you say the fader pattern is identical to fast 2 click orbits - can you elaborate? I can orbit well enough, but can't get these down for the life of me which sucks as they sound dope (when you do them :/ )
  7. Apologies if this is a super nooby question, but where do the extra clicks go on a 3 click autobahn? I used my best Googling skills, but didn't come up with much.   8. Gotta be honest - finding this forum and immediately getting responses from helpful, friendly, knowledgable people is mindblowingly fantastic! The last time I was part of a scratch forum (in like 1999 / 2000) it was mostly Ricci Rucker under some alias stirring the pot and generally belittling folks for no apparent reason. Amusing, but not super helpful. I've been lurking quite a bit lately and really appreciate your help as I attempt to catch up on the last 16 years. Thank you
  9. This has been bothering me for quite some time, but can anyone name the scratch that P-Nuts does at 1:23 here (I tried to link to the specific time but it doesn't appear to work on this forum)? It's been driving me "nuts" for some time (awful pun - apologies) and nobody seems to know definitively. Is it really just an autobahn? Thanks!
  10. The grip thing is something I've been working on, but can't seem to fix. After years of obsessing over 2 clickers, my speed is pretty good when pinching vertically (fingers perpendicular to the faceplate), but I can't seem to slow them down. Mentally I'm "turning off" the fader. For things like autobahns or boomerangs (which are new scratches to me after 10 years away from the decks), my hand positioning is far more horizontal (fingers pointing parallel to the mixer faceplate) and mentally I'm "turning on" the fader. I'm having a lot of trouble reconciling the two for things like Boomflares, and even for getting the speed of things like boomerangs up. Any suggestions?
