  1. Oops meant to add my comment there but didn't, yes I was surprised it didn't derail too ha ha oh well must try harder!
  2. Yes and I was incredibly surprised that the thread didn't immediately derail on the basis of the double entrendre anyway! Come on dv. I've just trumped and I thought it would come out quiet and it didn't. At least it doesn't smell. Edit: I was mistaken.
  3. Did anyone pick up on the Fawlty Towers quote by the way?
  4. I liked it. Trying to be constructive the timings are ever so slightly out in sections but in some ways this adds to the rawness. Depends really what you are aiming for I guess. Still really impressive when considering it's all your own work, scratching your own material etc :-)
  5. It's a good point. Hopefully I have progressed since 2011, but 140bpm is the music/beats I play. I could give something different a go though. Got the lead I need for my webcam/Z2 booth output so may get something recorded at the weekend :-)
  6. Great thanks for the input. I am amazed that it isn't more straightforward. Due an upgrade on my phone this year so my check out if some of the Android phones or the iPhone 7 have this functionality.
  7. Does anyone know if it's possible to record a video whilst connecting the mixer output to the phone as a line in microphone? Are there any apps? Otherwise I will need to use my 2mp web cam which is a bit pants!
  8. I always feel like I don't get as much time as I would like but seems a lot of us are in the same boat really. Perhaps I'm not so hard done by. I do work from home once a week so get a guaranteed hr uninterrupted on my lunch break :-)
  9. Awesome cheers everyone. Coming from Traktor Scratch duo this is all new to me. Yes Darcy I was well happy/amazed to find I could apply fx to my actual vinyl :-)
  10. I just wondered how diverse everyone on this forum is. What I mean is how often do you get on your decks, is it your profession or do you just mess around at home. For me with my job, family, moving house recently and getting married in the last 3 years don't have as much time as I would like. Probably just practice/play 2 or 3 times a week for an hr or so at present. Hopefully will get more time and would like to get a few local gigs at some point but I know I need to get my arse in gear for that to happen. On a side note is there a biography option for forum members? I'm off to have a look before I suggest one!
  11. I still use hamster but have progressed a little in 5 years but be good to hear opinions and advice please :-)
  12. Hey so recently got the Z2. Massive change from my Ecler. Still getting to grips and learning new tricks with all the controller functionality. For instance using the flux, looping on 1/4 and filtering out sounds pretty good when in the mix. I'm sure I'm not the first to have worked this out and it made me think think are there any other useful tricks people could share? Cheers, Andy
  13. That's great did a little research on YouTube which helped distinguish the difference between sound proofing and improving acoustics. Not sure there is scope for changing the shape of the room too much. Fairly lucky to get the green light on the garage being converted for a man cave / games room, don't want to push my luck too much :-)
  14. I've seen a few YouTube clips from various home studios etc. Some have various strips of sound proofing in what I consider must be key locations. I take it this provides some benefits. For me I was wondering exactly how it all works and whether any one on the forum could help. Our garage is going to be converted soon so that is in the back of my head. Does it help prevent the neighbours complaining or is it purely to help with sound quality?
  15. Dug out and uploaded a YouTube clip of some freeform/180bpm scratching if you fancy making your ears bleed?! http://youtu.be/oexdWkjBL4Y
  16. DJ Deekline and DJ Faydz are great at scratching to break beat stuff. Also Greg J who I believe is US based.
  17. Thank you. Instant doubles, is that when you use shift and hit deck A and B so it mirrors one deck on the other. Effectively that means only one deck needed to play a set/mix?
  18. @Symatic yes that link to the godfather is exactly what I am talking about. :-) @danswift I still have the odd session with my old vinyl, a guilty pleasure ;-)
  19. Glad I got everyone talking. Perhaps I was overly clear but my point is there should be no rules as to what music is used. DJ Woody for example is someone who tries different stuff. Rules are made to be broken :-) Some may be critical but when I first started djing I was into happy hardcore and freeform stuff @170bpm or so. I now mainly play break beat @130-140bpm and can scratch along happily to either still, if anything I'm more comfortable at 170bpm. Only in the last few years I paid more attention to what technique or name for the various scratch patterns I had learnt were :-) I haven't heard too many beat juggling drum and bass etc other than some basic "echo" effects. I will have a listen to the DJs mentioned and see what I think. Most are new to me!
  20. As a rule most music used is of a certain BPM and style. Anyone out there seen/heard non traditional styles being used? More upbeat stuff I don't know hard house for instance off the top of my head?
  21. Hey watched your video Dubba most impressive I'm some way off integrating controllers into my DJing at that level but it seems like the sky is the limit. Think I need to get myself an F1 now :-) Do you live record loops or create your own using Audacity or something like that? I'm thinking it may be just as easy to do that. Cheers for being so helpful.
  22. Yeah I appreciate JFB is not to everyone's taste but it works for me. I prefer when turntablism adds to the music and blends seamlessly without disrupting the flow as opposed to more technical but less musically pleasing to the ear stuff. All personal preference at the end of day. Will check out Killa Jewel.
  23. Most definitely I can imagine that being the case. Trying to suss out the remix decks too is intereting. Looks like standard mapping you have to record loops via mouse/keyboard rather than the Z2. Then it seemed it wanted to squeeze the whole track into 4 bars which provided a chipmunk affect. Seemed changing input to Cue fixed that issue though. Are there any good tutorials for Z2 that you could recommend?
  24. Excellent thank you. It's fairly intuitive but totally different ball game going from my Ecler 360 and Traktor Scratch Duo set up.
  25. Just been checking out a few of the entries. Some crazy mind blowing stuff on YouTube. JFB's is especially good. Anyone else recommend some submissions I should check out?
