Can we have a Super Scratch Luau?

Is there a better place to spend a 40th? ;-) Testimony for a 46th birthday: nope.

Unfortunately I couldn't get down, especially as it's home turf. We had booked a spa day for my mother on the Saturday and there was no way I could get out of it. I know a few guys that were there and they said CnP & SSS smashed it.

Interesting thread. I don't play out anymore either but currently looking at getting into the "corporate events" market. As a Joey no-name, I used to get £200 an hour for a 2 hour set at MoS in 95. Now days, on that corporate circuit, the lighting & audio techs are on between £225 and £275 as a day rate. As the "Talent", I would figure a rate of £300 for a gig would be fine - it's a tax write off for the PRs. In theory, you would be looking at 3 or 4 gigs a week (Monday - Thursday) and there would be extras if the lighting and sound companies can't fulfil your rider (it's £300 a day rental in London for 2x Nexus and a DJM 900).. It's something I am looking VERY seriously into.

Actually, that's a great idea to cover server/bandwidth/domain fees... -
Another INSANE SSS. Still got that ridiculous grin! Thanks for the hospitality.

. . . So spot on. I shat myself at SSS So many crazy scratchers... But I was pushed on (damn, I want a scratchbox) and it was amazing. I'm not the best, in fact I can safely say I was the worst in that room - but no one made me feel crap. In fact, after that first 8 bars, I was bitten by the bug... And was pulling off things (fnar fnar) I'd never tried before. That adrenalin of fear is powerful. I'm looking forward to SS Sunday so much - I'll be the worst again, and I'll shit myself again, but I don't care.. I feel alive when it's time for my 8 and if I fuck it up, who cares? I'll laugh and nobody died...

Hmm, it weighs about 6kg and I can ship from work at cost price of £11 on TNT. I might try local first, but if no joy, I'd be up for posting...

An Aussie guy at work is going home in two weeks... He didn't have time to sell it on Ebay, so offered it to me for £120. When we tested it, he said "just take it, it'll only go in the bin otherwise" So, I just took it!

Can anyone recommend a decent London repair shop? I was given a PMC 08 PRO and there is a serious bleed problem with channel 2 (tested with stock and known good Innofader) I suspect it's something to do with the Curve / Cut PCB on the front.. I'm happy to pay a reasonable amount because the mixer was a freebie!

Acapellas4u?

This. I always found 33 easier to mix with back in my house days - also, any US house 12" that I bought always sounded like it had more "weight" in the bottom end than its UK 45 equivalent..

De La with Teenage Fanclub is my joint! Boo Yaa v Faith no more. Best soundtrack ever. Quite like the look of The Incredible Bongo Band 7" box set.
