  1. yeah, I did start from zero, so to speak. tweaked the EQ a little then compressed, no need for normalizing any more after that. Of course I could have done a hell of a lot more but I just do it to get some experience since I never used my computer for editing non-electronic music. I compared the waves with Slayer's "God Hates Us All" and damn, they compressed the shit out of it. I also wanted to make sure to just raise the volume without overleveling everything. I think it worked fine for my first attempt. Didn't use any limiters at all except for two live tracks but only because they still sounded to low after compression compared to the studio stuff. the CD will be limited to 1,000 or maybe 1,500 copies and all we'll receive is 10% of the CDs pressed to sell, so it's a true underground release. All proceeds go to the band itself to spend for new studio recordings or print shirts whatever, so all I personally earn is experience. Btw, all these recordings weren't mastered at all when they came out back then, everything was pressed to vinyl directly from the DATs. I listened on several stereos, on my monitors, on headphones and in the car and it sounds good. if we record another album we'll definitely have it mastered by a real mastering studio. We did it with the last album and it was definitely worth it. If anyone wants to hear the result I can upload one song in the stages it went through. It's extreme Metal tho, so be warned
  2. word, I found that vintage warmer and it looks promising. I can't really EQ a whole lot coz I only have the mixed recordings and not the separate tracks. So far it looks good. volume was cranked up a good deal without cut off's in the peaks. I owe you guys a beer.
  3. cheers for the heads up. I'll go through the links and everything tonight. I think I even have that PSP vintage warmer buried on a CD somewhere.
  4. OK, so I'm pre-mastering the old studio recordings of my band coz we want to re-release them on CD soon. I'm done but the end result sounds a little low in volume. I've tweaked the dynamics a bit and normalized everything so far. Everything I've tried with compression and limiting didn't sound too good. Anyone know what I can do? I've tried countless settings with Audition 1.5, Cubase SX and Audition 2.0 but the results weren't good because the waves were limited/cut off at their peaks. Is Wavelab any good? Cheers for any advice, y'all
  5. Tiscali seems to be the worst provider of em all. people in Germany always say that Tiscali blocks ports that are used for p2p applications and they'll also warn "heavy users" even though they have flatrates and all. Fuckin nazis. I'm with T-Online, not probs at all. The prices aren't that different anyway.

  7. so how about rebuilding it. there was a tutorial on the old asis site that described how to repair broken fader stems with epoxy
  8. here's the remaining tour dates for anyone interested: Zurich Zukunft (24th) Lyon Le Plateforme (25th) Poitiers Confort Moderne (26th) Vendome Rockomotive (27th) Nantes Yamoy Festival (28th) Paris Flech D’Or (29th) Innsbruck PMK (30th)
  9. dude fuckin killed it on the MPC. Entrance was only 5 euros, so it was worth every penny. Even though I think most of Anticon related shit is ultra wack faggotry, Jel and Alias are the only worthwhile exceptions, Deep Puddle Dynamics too. If Jel comes to your town you better be there. RJD2's show last year was not even remotely close.
  10. do you have a firewall? I used Sygate for a while but it blocked pretty much everything as well, so I threw it off and use KAV with the regular Windows firewall
  11. try Internet Explorer. I can't grab stuff from megaupload coz I threw out all the ads on my Firefox, so the verification code won't show.
  12. woo, thanks for the nice comments. steve, the last track is "90's" by Giant Panda. They released a dope album last year. I'll post the entire tracklist later. The transitions were all done dry and then I just added effects in audition. Mostly echoes and some flange together because the delay effects in audition don't "prolong" the sounds.
  13. This is part of a promo mix CD me and two of my friends did. We gave them out on shows. Here's my mix, made in a rush in one day. It has a bit of everything, more or less the type of stuff I'm spinning when I have live gigs. I have also changed my DJ name to my real nickname lately, btw. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1G7LZ8CB
  14. dope mix, very well executed. Song selection is not exactly my type but it's cool nonetheless, the mixing makes up for that. Keep doin it
  15. had the same probs and the same fix. btw. my technics died out on me before all that happened. to its defense it was easily ten years old whereas the Numoark was maybe three years.
