  2. The frequency response is equal but the shures boost some frequencies. If you're looking for needles to sample/record that's the last thing you want. The concordes were just an example, there are much cheaper needles available with a neutral sound. If you're talking about scratching and spinning i'd prefer the m44-7, that's your choice though.
  3. I don't but i often spin at a mates home who has them. They're ok, sound only a bit different when used for skratching as you've got the bass turned down anyway. Think they sound a tiny bit 'boxy', but if you need needles both for sampling/recording and skratching i'd pick them over the 44-7's. None of the two are too great for sampling/recording anyway, better get some audiophile pickering, a concorde or a whitelabel
  4. AMD's got a new mobile 64 chip coming up as well, at least that's what their representative told me. He said it'll kick the Pentium M's ass, but then again, he is the AMD representative.
  5. Nah tiesto doesn't need a punchline to be a ridiculous faggot. He's a natural...
  6. TIESTO??? wtf? Am I missing some inside joke?
  7. I'll still respect a dj more if he can do anything w/o bpm'ed records, AND completely improvised. Think that measures your skill best
  8. Don't do it myself but haven't got any problem with it. If you've got a set you always play it's the same thing actually
  9. It's just too easy with that track innit? I feel almost ashamed for dropping it and getting cheered upon so easily. Rewinding it would be even easier, i'm sure the crowd would love it, especially if you drop Spyder D after it (blends in perfectly as the bassline is very similar to the first bassline in 'King of the Beats'
  10. I love coldcut, but I really don't like the vocals on Stop this crazy thing. I'll keep my eyes open for the Queen Latifa track. When was that made? ---------- Who's the Shit -- DM & Jemini Genius of love 2002 -- Biz Markie w/ X-ecutioners More beats and pieces -- Coldcut: Strictly Kid Teeba mix Walkie talkie -- DJ Shadow <{POST_SNAPBACK}> '88 i guess, it was on the first lp together with beats+pieces and the junior reid track. Some I forgot to mention (though if you hadn't thought of these you should be ashamed of your sorry self): Rob Base & DJ EZ-Rock - It takes two (duhhhh) Special Ed - I got it made Chill Rob G - The Power Chill Rob G - Court is now in session Beastie Boys - Sure Shot Stezo - Freak the funk Ultramagnetic MC's - Give the Drummer some Ultramagnetic MC's - Poppa Large (East coast mix) Beatnuts - Watch out now Large professor - Mad scientist And some less known: Slum Brothers - Stop Frontin' Shazam X ft. Percee P - Respect cost more than money Semi-Official - Grey Unsung Heroes ft. Siah & Yeshua da poED - The norm DJ Vadim - The terrorist ft. Motion man Doxxmen - Spontaneous combustion Nas-T Howie - Attic (uses the same sample as Amon Tobin's "Four Ton Mantis")
  11. ATCQ - Check the rhyme LOTU - Funky child Blue Boy - Remember me (not hiphop, the one with the Marlena Shaw sample) Mr. Lif - New Man Theme Spyder D - I can't wait (to rock the mike) The JB's - Pass the peas James Brown - Soul Power Cameo - Rigor Mortis Coldcut ft. Queen Latifa - Smoke dis 1 Coldcut ft. Junior Reid - Stop this crazy thing Mantronix - King Beat (kinda rare, but has been reissued/bootlegged a few times) Mantronix - Bassline guess what you define as a 'banger' may vary from person to person

    Reason 2.5

How about finding your own samples?
  13. Oldest one I have is 'In a sentimental mood' by Duke Ellington. 1932, 78rpm on wax Great trumpet sample in there by the way
  14. It's a figure of speech, i just meant that no matter how shitty alps and pcv are, i still like the cut beter

  16. Actually it perfectly upfades like an 07 if you set the contour sliders exactly in the middle. But it depends on which generation of upfaders you have on your 07, different generations of vestax upfaders for 07 are known to have different slopes. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> it's not that it isn't fast enough, it's alot faster than the 07 but i like it to be at the top of the fader, where the 56 cuts at the bottom, which makes more sense actually but in the past 5 years i got used to the feeling : fader fully up = click = on, where the rane needs to have the fader up a little and clicks for closed. A simple slow cut over 1 cm would be great. Hell I'd mod it with a PCV if it gave me a normal cut in. YES YOU HEARD ME A PCV! Still: best mixer i've ever laid hands on.
  17. Well i'm belgian, that's where rodec comes from, and i honestly HATED any rodec mixer i've ever seen. Indeed, the sound quality is great, and the build quality even better. But the technology used has always been 5 year old. I think they've introduced VCA faders somewhere 6 years ago and were acting as if they just invented hot water. They serve well as club mixers built in to a rig, but every time i've stumbled upon a rodec where i've had to mix i drove off to get my 05 (which is a lot worse when it comes to sound, but still). I remember their club mixers as hard to handle, ugly and just plain not fit for creative mixing. Anyone seen the MiXboX, their 3-channel basic mixer? It's brought me nearly to tears, and i'm not talking 'bout the scratch. Also, open your eyes: any dealer will tell you that rodec is great, because they are sold with a 40% margin, as opposed to vestax, pioneer, rane, stanton... where margins are 10-20%. Meaning I as a dealer make more money off a € 1000 rodec than i'd make off a € 1900 vestax. If you've ever wondered how crappy brands can keep existing here's your answer. If any belgians read this the name JBSystems will ring a bell. So crappy that they'd had to release their first ever high-end turntable with a whole new brand, Sync (it's a OEM like the stantons, american audio's, numarks and whatnot). But the margins are great, friendly representatives come over, lots of catalogues and gadgets to hand out... you'll get it if you're in sales. *ALTHOUGH* if Lamont is helping them build these babies ans they use some post '00 technology in it i'll be sure to pick one up. Wouldn't ever buy it before i had a thorough test ride with it though...
  18. I'd like em to cut something like a 07, that fast cut at the bottom of the faders is useless, and the slow cut isn't that great either
  19. The ttm56 would've been the ultimate mixer if it wasn't for those upfaders. Still the best though...
  20. Try hitman pro, it's free and you'll find it at www.hitmanpro.nl. Basically a batch of a lot of freeware and non-freeware scanners, but works great. Also does some immunizing. I'm using it at work ( repair pc's with this kind of mess everyday) and it saves me hours
  21. Btw, is there any mod to make the channel faders cut NORMAL say a bit like the ones on the 07 pro? It's the only thing i fuckin' hate about the rane. Love the special knobs though, they slide off your fingertips a lot easier than the square ones. Takes a lot less saliva to crab decently...
  22. I removed the spring one all 3 faders and I looove it Only for the upfaders though it's maybe a little too loose, though not on a focus/samurai tip. Guess I'll just start lubing those a little less frequent.
  23. The only real problem with the transition from a PMC05 with P+G xfader to the ttm56 is the channel faders being so slow (and sharp in the wrong direction) so i can't do fast chopping anymore. I love the crossfader and have always hated Vestax ALPS and PCV faders, which is why i upgraded to the P+G. Maybe try adjusting the cut-in time a little? And if it's too light, adjust the springy thing a tad, i did too.
  24. Ah i see... Ok, i have to admit: real drumkits beat the mpc by far...
  25. Nah you really want the mpc, nothing compares to it drummingwise
