I actually had to catch a train back before the end so no idea on the results! Sorry.

Went last night - interesting venue under the arches. Think a few DVers/ex-DVers were there. Obviously Symatic as he was in the competition. P-Nuts was competing too. Think I spied Prime Cuts at one point as well. Good event, particularly as it was free. And I got to play around with a Rane 72 and a pair of Twelves so, yeah, happy days. Anyone else make it?

Given everything that I've heard about the delays and customer support (or lack thereof) I wouldn't go near it.

They're doing free tickets for the event. It's on Friday 27th September on the first night of the Beat Geek weekender near London Waterloo station. http://www.beatgeek.uk/IDA.html

Please do more of these! I will now think of this as the pizza method forever more.
-
I didn't realise they'd discontinued the SL2 and SL3 - I'm surprised about that.
-
Exactly what I was thinking. Also, bit odd to call it the Scratch and then not have those features on it.
-
I was hoping it would be in the £125-50 region. I still want one though.

If the build quality is as cack as it sounds it'll certainly help lower the price of the mk7s!

This is what my brain was thinking when they were mentioning the 7th and 7, and with that lineup of DJs. I'd love a 7 or 10" technics to play with. Saw Dj Koco play at DJ Muro's Birthday party when we were on honeymoon in Tokyo! Absolutely killer! I think you may well be on to something - that makes a lot of sense!

Acquired a CDJ 1000 mk3 at Christmas and the lights have just stopped working on the buttons (although the buttons and functions still work). Any ideas on the problem and fix? Thanks Jel

Complex's list of best hip-hop producer each year from 1979 to now
jeljms replied to Steve's topic in MUSIC/DJ RELATED
It starts off all right and the earlier part of the list is fine but it tails off in the middle and by the end it's dross. So, bit like hip hop really. -
This.

They randomly stuck the number 7 at the beginning.

Wish list (intending to buy, not fantasy island)

If you're not tied into Serato yet and looking at an s3-type mixer, you might want to try the djm250 mk2 - exactly the same mixer and a lot cheaper. Only real difference is it comes with Rekordbox DJ instead of Serato DJ. -
Boogie - bastard child of disco or true heir to 70s funk?
jeljms replied to jeljms's topic in MUSIC/DJ RELATED
Yes, I believe it was. I think the term originated in the UK to describe that type of black dance music coming out of the US in the early 80s. Disco was tainted by that point so people didn't want to describe it as that. Uk DJ Greg Wilson has an excellent history of it at this site: http://www.electrofunkroots.co.uk This is the article: http://www.electrofunkroots.co.uk/articles/the_building_blocks_of_boogie.html -
Boogie - bastard child of disco or true heir to 70s funk?

Ok,so that's an interesting point - 80s funk and 80s boogie - different or the same? I always saw boogie as the funkier end of disco but not sure I could make much of a distinction between that and some of the 80s funk stuff. 80s boogie - Evelyn Champagne King, D-Train? 80s funk - Rick James, Cameo? -

"everybody has limitless cocaine credit" vibe - lol! That is exactly it! That's the fonk in the 80s right there. -

Boogie - bastard child of disco or true heir to 70s funk?

Yeah, pretty much - it's a fusion of the two, I think. Not sure it's one more than the other - just depends on the record. But it's stuff aimed squarely at the dancefloor. When it's the funkier end, I really like it. -
I mean 80s boogie, the stuff that came out over the first four or five years of that decade. What do people think of it as a genre?

What does anyone know about these guys: https://www.audimpex.cz/eshop/ Is this legit? Not sure how it could be stocking much of this stuff but has anyone had any dealings with them?

Options 1 or 2 sound like the best. Definitely get the 57, then you've got your built in audio interface and an incredible scratch mixer. If you really want to use Traktor 3 I guess you can keep hold of the Behringer.
-
The only Xone mixer designed for scratching remains the Xone 02. That's the one to get if you want Allen and Heath and a scratch mixer.

There's a bespoke innofader for it, I think. But you can fit an inno into pretty much anything so not sure why you'd bother with this.
