  1. This. I strongly believe that Woody is one the most slept-on turntablists ever, while everyone else has derailed or is still praised for shit he did 20 years ago. He & Focus combined have innovated almost twice as much gear & techniques as the rest combined.
  2. InMusic probably found out that they have something like 10.000 switches from the Stanton SA8s & SA12s and figured they should do something with them. A clever move, manufacturing wise, but completely off the mark. That switch, besides the obvious "pop", is nothing close to any normal fader. Everybody is utilizing the travel distance of any fader, something not possible with this one. Only if it makes it easier to hot-swap it with some other fader, it might sell. Of course, under the notion that it will be priced normally (which I highly doubt). EDIT: I don't see anywhere how the audio is supposed to routed. If someone has to add a fader-hub anyhow to route audio/loops, then they completely missed the mark.
  3. He's just a cunt, sitting on his former glory.
  4. The history of InMusic management with legacy brands is absolutely heartbreaking. They destroyed AKAI and Mackie, both with almost cult-like customers, and they did nothing to upgrade Alesis or Numark. Nobody gives a shit about Denon trying to push themselves as hi-end, ain't nobody crazy to buy into that. I'm 99% sure they will destroy Rane too. They will try to migrate the hi-end part of Rane into other products, only to end up with homologated mixers all over the place and under various banners, with zero quality assurance (based on their current manufacturing standards).
  5. First of all, try activate Vinyl Distortion by hitting ALT+SHIFT+click on the outer circle of the spinning wheel on your scratching deck. Next, as Vekked said, check your Threshold settings by going into the SETUP and then in the calibration screen. Your threshold for home scratching should be on the far left. Also, get a fresh pair of records & needles. Serato (both SSL +SDJ) is notorious for not going well along with average record wear. Last but not least, you will need the best possible laptop you can get. The stronger the machine, the better the scratch.
  6. This battle will be good if it features direct (&live) feedback from the judges, like Craze joked that he will be the Simon Cowel of DJ battles. Both A-Trak & Craze enjoy tremendous appraise for their battle credentials. If someone is allowed to become the Cowel of DJs, it's them.
  7. This is truly a sad story, but we should all praise Sinista for having the balls to tell his story in public.
  8. Peace to all contestants out there! I'm more than honored that my looper was selected. Nevertheless though, shouts also to SPARKY T for sourcing those beats (I did the programming, mastering & artwork).
  9. Yoooo, thanks for choosing my looper yo! It's on www.scratchloopers.com if you want to use it online. Let's battle!
  10. It's a solid option, if you look at it from a different point of view...It's a scratchbox for the masses, fitted with a mini Inno, at a very competitive price. Obviously, it has nothing to do with portablism and their marketing plan is completely off if it's aimed towards that.
  11. I've owned my setup since 2004 and was doing my regular scratch/beatmaking combo. Then, somewhere around 2008 I felt really attracted to beatmaking, stacked away my TTs for 5 years and went on to an unbelievable shopping spree of samplers/drum machines which ended in me owning a 2kxl, an SP1200, an ASR-10, an MPC60, couple of rack samplers and various little fx boxes, all bought within 2 years. I sold everything, besides the 2kxl, in 2013. I just felt that I've completed my circle in beatmaking and I was looking around to find something else to focus on. Then I remembered I had a couple of TTs stacked away...I took them out, bought myself a Serato interface and a PMC08 and restarted scratching. It's been the best fucking period of my music life since that. I can now take advantage of all the accumulated knowledge in beatmaking and apply that to my scratching. I don't feel anything's wasted, but most certainly I can't go on forever with something I'm not feeling anymore. No regrets.
  12. I've tested it both with Serato & standalone. The verdict: an absolutely fantastic mixer! It probably has the sweetest CF available right now, the tension adjustment is just brilliant! The cut-in can be adjusted also with the Pioneer app, the one I played with was super sharp (more than a Rane). Regarding pads, they are pressure sensitive and as far as I know it is a class compliant mixer, which means it is fully midi mapable as a midi controller (but dunno if it can work simultaneously when Serato is also on). Only bad thing I know is about drivers compatibility. It seems that it doesn't work with 100% of all Windows machines. Probably some sort of hardware clashing. But I'm not aware for any problems with Apple.
  13. You have my attention now! These are obscure private pressings from the 70s, driven by folks like Vangelis & Demi Roussos (both formerly know as Aphrodite's Child). Usually these recordings were done in London studios and occasionally in shitty Greek studios. I'll give it a try myself!
  14. this, and Twin World just give me a huge nostalgia trip. I think around the same(ish) time we got a SNES, I seem to remember playing a lot of Zool and Return of the Jedi. Zool! I used to play that on my 386 PC....
  15. Aa a story flip, I must say that the greatest ever difference between a series of games must be Street Fighter 1 vs 2. I mean, I tried once to play the first one and I was amazed from how bad it was and why the hell did the owners believed that a follow up should've been released...
  16. Yo Vek, since you're (obviously) not from NYC, you should had asked first for permission to use that beat. Not cool bro, not cool at all... Aside from the royalty's permission, the slowed down bit was absolutely bonkers!!!
  17. Looool! We need more Dj Disk up in this bitch yo!
  18. The only thing I don't like about Craze is his musical taste the last few years (all that EDM-trap-twerk). So, it's no surprise to me that he might actually dig the Ruck's productions, lolol!
  19. Wellll to be fair Rob was once the No1 beat juggler and arguably solo battle DJ on the planet (he lost to Q, MMM and Apollo as a team at the time) With all due respect Vek, I think it was always Raida the No1 beat juggler. RS was always somewhere in the back within the X-Men and behind Butcher, Raida, Eclipse, Precision and Boogie Blind. He might had the most musicality out of all, but that was still 20 years ago. Obviously Rob didn't maintain being number 1, but I think in 92/93 it's hard to argue he was one of the best. Raida had tons of skill but I don't think he (or anyone) had a better juggle than Rob's Biz routine for a few more years. Of course this doesn't excuse some of the stuff he's said this week, or that sloppy Queen juggle he just posted. I'm just keeping the record straight since there are a lot of people who get mad at his comments and say "ROB SWIFT HAS ALWAYS BEEN WACK" when he's still a legend and pioneer, despite any perceived douchiness. If RS was not responsible for something good in turntablism, at least at some point in time, we wouldn't be talking about him right. Obviously, we shouldn't disregard some person's contributions, unless he does it himself. And by claiming things to have happened, that obviously never did (like being hiphop royalty - wtf), RS is completely disregarding himself in public. Add to that this his almighty sloppiness on that Queen video, and you're left with nothing but a douche. :-)
  20. Craze is down with the Ruck though. I can feel your heads exploding from accrost the pond. All human beings are born with flaws. It's in our nature, lol!
  21. 22. Fuck Rob Swift and fuck any other old fart that tries to use "divide & conquer" in order to stop being irrelevant. For fuck's sake, anyone that tries this approach in the future should be completely wiped out of the history books of turntablism. That dickhead is way worse that Ruckzoid, at least Rucker was once No1 in the scratch game. This fucktard was just once an Eastcoast champ and that's all. And yet we have to tolerate this bullshit and continuous disrespect of a whole-fucking-contintent by someone that regards himself "hiphop royalty". Man, just fuck you.
  23. Dilla's stuff is countless. I've recently discovered another 100 demo beats he had circulating around...But this has to stop at some point. That Dillatronic album which was released this year was straight wack. he would have never approved that shit for release. I strongly believe the same for Donuts too. Compared to his actual last album (Ruff Draft), that shit was just idea sketches, and they released it after his death. This has to stop at some point.
  24. Pressing proper vinyl for scratching is a real biz, not some "mp3 album doing youtube revenue" type of bullshit. If you want to do it, be prepared to blow a lot of cash until you get things shorted out. We all went that way, and everyone after us will walk the same path too.
