  1. So, I've recently moved my DJ gear, records a tv & ps3 sofa etc into my shed which I recently converted for the purpose, proper man cave stuff. But I need internet connectivity and the wifi is not strong enough 100% of the time. Has anyone used a wifi extender or one of the plug in home plug jobs' that send the signal through the power cables. Do they work? Any recommendations?
  2. my bad it was the wrong web address, shoulda been freefileconvert not freefileconverter the first one is an online converter tool I've used to convert some phone voice recordings to a friendly format before. No need to download a tool,
  3. Get yourself 2 of these http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/phono-male-to-twin-phono-female-qn26d then check here ***LINK REMOVED***
  4. Pledged, I'm in. Nice to see someone doing what others seem to dream
  5. If remember the vocal version has a fairly long intro, could you not just loop it up?
  6. Paul Simon's original has no bells, someone needs to tell Biz Markie.
  7. Make of it what you will but reading the article I think the DJ part of the title "Ultimate DJ" is used pretty loosely as it sounds to be more of a producer competition rather than pure DJ'ing. Obviously easier to make more cash selling tracks than dj booking's. http://online.wsj.com/article/PR-CO-20140429-911035.html
  8. I guess I'm a classed as a collector these days as I don't buy records to play out but just buy generally stuff made before 93' when i started dj'ing and bits I didn't get/couldn't afford at the time. However I do most of my 'collecting' at boot sales, charity/second hand shops so rarely spend much. The expensive bits in my collection are just luck from buying LPs which never really got played as I normally had a CD or cassette copy for the car. I have some pricey records are in my Discogs wantlist but that's mainly because its handy to use when I think of a tune I want to hear I'll probably never get most of them. I (probably stupidly) think I'll find the ones I want in a dusty crate somewhere.
  9. I think Maplin is the only official UK distributor for the dif-1s at £129 not seen the tr-1s there though.
  10. Andy Smith (DJ on the excellent 'The Document' mixtape series) did play a lot of it on his podcasts, check out his mixcloud page
  11. Sorry, slept on this one. Vids been online for couple of weeks now but check it out. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=egoxXjOEb18
  12. Thanks for having us. Will definitely try and make it to another in the new year.
  13. Awesome work man, love it. The only thing I can see you getting marked down on is its not full 2 mins. Otherwise some of the tightest cuts in the comp.
  14. Spontaneous Mixx (me) in no way endorses the fraud being perpetrated by John "Jay" Johnson in the video. I only reposted the video after Jay took it down. Check the description on the video. Please do not associate Spontaneous Mixx the DJ with Jay the poser. Thanks! yeah didn't mean to associate you with it Spontaneous, funny though that his "mix" was anything but.... thanks for grabbing the vid and reposting it.
  15. lol, yeah I've gotta pull down my garden fence today and need to work up a bit of anger
  16. Man that's hard to watch but see 9:36 she calls him grandmaster flash but he didn't hear because he was too busy rambling on. Wish he had heard it. I'm guessing this is the vid Jeff is talking about (which you can hear Skillz on the mic in background!) spontaneous mix eh? Lol.

i know you mong. But in the OG, at no point are remixes mentioned. and the fact he's only scouring soundcloud (for gash genres such as "glitch hop/hip hop/trap") made me jump to the conclusion this isnt someone who is serious about production, and so would look for ways to cut corners. im also incredible bored at work and fancied being picky. yeah I guess Amatic just wanted to get the stems and line them up in the correct order to re-make the original track to save downloading it???

Beatport regularly has remix competitions. I've not found anything like remixcomps as they tend to pool all current comps from blogs some of the big genre forums hold regular comps too. Guess sound cloud is the place for archive stuff. nothing wrong with any genre stem's because that can be the point of the remix, flip em into what you want

  20. Porn is illegal in some countries? Hope I never end up in one of them. Its a basic human right surely.
  21. Heard about this the other day, seems a few, Extratorrent in particular may take legal action to get their .com back as apparently the police mearly asked to have the sites blocked without much foundation in law. http://torrentfreak.com/extratorrent-threatens-legal-action-over-police-ordered-domain-seizure-131010/
  22. I'm still trying to work out three things, 1. why he needs my name and address 2. how I can record just the scratching without hearing the beat (without using my old SA-8 or playing the beat through my phone or something) 3. How the fuck he's gonna mix 500 odd clips of 8bars especially as not everyone starts on the 1. ?
  23. Live 28th October. The video from these shows usually get posted a few days afterwards. http://blog.djcity.com/2013/10/d-styles-melo-d-to-perform-on-mikidz.html
  24. The problem I can see with giving competitors the same beat to juggle is that it doesn't give much scope for a DJ's individuality. Yeah people in the scene could differentiate between each DJ's skill level but to an outsider it may not be as interesting to watch? Or maybe it would inspire people to get more technical and therefore more original Along the way. I just don't know
