  1. Fresh, I got 1 customer!... This is why I was pushing to inspire Clear Vinyl being pressed before I release another "Precicions Incisions" 7 inch record... It Allows for custom graphics and aligning of sounds....I Shouldn't of opened this can of worms though haha..Now my ish might not have as much thunder...There is more to it though but that's as much as I am going to say for now...Peace... Look forward to hearing it focus lad I might have mentioned it before but while we wait for focus' mega-record theres always this - Dub Studio in Bristol have a deal going where they'll cut a pair of clear 1mm thin vinyl dubplates for £45. http://www.dubstudio.co.uk/dubplates/browse/special-offers/package-deals/battle-plates/battle-plates-clear they cut one side on each record so battle dj's can mark up the blank side with any design or cue point system they want. i have just got one of these 1mm dubs (mines normal black vinyl) and they are really good, the thinner ones are a good wieght to cut with. plus you can put anything you want on there Thanks for the support Justin... Touche Symatic,Toucheeee... In my defense, these services weren't around in this current form in 1999, now any of the Lathe Cut / Dub Cut Services will make you a clear custom record...Some use a professional Neumann Cutting Lathe and others a Presto K8 Player / Recorder...Still clear is clear and you can make your own graphics...for marking spots or just to beautifying it... Like I said my design has a tad bit more then just being clear, Definitely not a Mega Record but different..... You're right though, when I go too abstract with my designs the purpose gets lost :-) ... Going to ask my Self Questions and Re-evaluate my approach, it's probably best to just drop some ....Ahhhhh Freshesssness and Cut Like Guillotine on a 7.289" Record to make sure it sells well then add the abstract later...:-) Also gotta find out how the Funk I got off path and ended up back on the internet forums... I always seem to end up hurting peoples feelings...hahah All freshnesses and for the sake of this scratch nerd stuff, no ill will intended...
  2. Well Andie, I got the sense that at this point you wanted to go at it alone, so I backed off a bit, I know I can get a bit intense sometimes so all coo... Either way here are more of my 2 cents...I wasn't sure how to attach images or upload so I'll link a few pictures too..Links after the jump... If you're not familiar with the the Radio Labs modules they are something to look into. New they get up their in price but I usually pick them up on Ebay for about 12$... The one I use now is a Radio Labs ST-VCA2 it is Mono, it gets the job done for experimenting...They do make a Stereo one... That's the direction I was talking when I talked about making the Arduino for Fader and Scratch... This way any device with Audio Source can have end Fader Plugged into..Like those Guitar Pedals I mentioned... That Corporation sells VCA ICs which cuts down on parts components and simplifies the design, they were made for Studio Mixers and Fadersss...:-) Their is in the $5 range, so you have to weight the pros and cons... ........................................................................................................................................................................ As for faders, Because my own projects involve Retro-Fitting existing Faders...I have some in bulk that I can hook you up with at a Super Scratch Ninja price... The Innofader PNP uses the Forward Electronics Mechanism with the Large Stem... I have them with the small stem, same Body style... If you are familiar with Bourns Components and have acces to them, they resell these faders as their own too... The Alpha Faders we talked about, I have plenty of those but as you saw you can get them on Alibaba at a good price now and I probably can't go better then them... This right hereeee... I have bulk EB Pro X Faders!, these have the large stems and adjustable thumb screw on the sides for fine tuning the cut In...Medium Body Size...I just listed one on Ebay for $48 for the Facebook homies... Ifyou get atleast 5 of them...I can hook it up even better... You're mentioning the Reloop, Inno-Mini...While searching for OEM Manufacturers I found this dude on one of the forums and his website has some OEM Minis for $30...I'm not associated with that website and I'm not really interested in anything Innofader....I'm on path doing my own thing...Just doing a service here in the spirit Scratching... Ask questions if anyone is buying from that website...Links Below... Bulk Faders Links... http://postimg.org/image/4bec8lgr3/ http://postimg.org/image/5exomi6tf/ Radio Labs VCA Module http://postimg.org/image/5rpuqqjnz/ Mini Inno Oem Website http://www.teknowdj.com/mini-innofader E-mail me if you are interested in any of the Bulk Faders... Ahh Fresh...Continued Succes... Peace...Focus...
  3. And now we come to the play offs...It's working...A kit like it is, with a printout of a few ways to wire it for, externel fader use, contacless or analog or doing your own scratch box... Let me apologize for the thread about the 7 inch clear records...it distracted from your progress that wasn't my intent...

  5. Haha Thanks homie...Yeah like in the Tv Show Fringe, I was running Futuresss :-) All Scratch All day everything, trying to see what would be needed by the Scratch Artists ... In my mind I tried to cover 3 things... Home Practice/Training, Studio Recording and Live Performance while trying to keep it uncluttered.. I was trying to spark of movement of sharing panned Scratch Practice files/Tapes. Like I said before, my scratch records have sounds layered and panned..even did some notes to create Chords by panning...haha None of you homies remember the Scratch Practice App I did before AS IS Phonics? How about the one in 2002ish with Analog X?... Sharing Loops or Scratch Practice Sessions with the extension .scr so it would make it easyer to do a search haha.... But word, all my works are interconnected one way or another and that includes the mixer...Time to dig up some more museum pieces..haha.. Now back to this Grassroots company we putting together...:-) Ceo where you ats?
  6. All coo man :-) Like I mentioned in my previous post they used one of the smaller companies to the Sa-8 vs the Sa-12....Sound wise it was up to par with the most expensive mixers. The faceplate moving you mentioned seems odd to me since its bolted from the sides and it was a one piece extruded aluminum design...If it moved it was becuase the screws were not tight enough, that's like saying the faceplate on 05pro moved, if the screws are on tight they don't move... The OS2 / Optical Scratch Switches were really smooth and I specifically requested for them to have dust gaurd/felt piece underneath to give it resistance but I was over ruled on that...All you had to do was unscrew the plate from the Switch and add piece of paper of felt in between..That would keep the buttons from sliding over, no need to tape them... The Lock switch on the design afterwards is the dumbest ish in the world. It was a waste of space and added more components to the design layout and price... I gave them a big No on that one, they added it to the Craze Mixer but not Mine...They just left out the Resistance Piece that I requested...That's All Jim Spree/Mazur's doings...currently with Native Instruments...Talk to him about that ish... Lock Switches are like your door knob being to smooth so you add another lock to keep it from moving, just add a litte bit of resistance instead..No need to add a lock to your a lock...hahah No different then adding a Bypass button to your fader now...if it's to smooth, just add a little resistance that's all....weird ish fo sho, but it's some of what I was dealing with.... Eitherway, I always aknowledged all the corners that Stanton cut and the quirks which needed to be ironed out. I was back home in AZ before it was completed and towards the end I didn't have much say...This is when all their energies started going towards the Final Scratch stuff too...There was no chance for future revisions which is standard with any product... I still stand by what I said...If Stanton fixes the bugs and add some Midi Control Features it will be up to par.. Being able to Cue your Effects in your Headphones, who heard of a such a thing? Rumble Filter, What?.. Being able to assign your FX Return to one of your Line Channels so you can adjust on the fly.... Or use the channel to Manipulate Feedback Tones... 4 Headphone Outputs? So you can have 2 Scratch Ninjas Sharing the same mixer...What? Any of this coming back to you?...:-) I do feel your passion about this issue, so I nominate you to be in Charge of Quality Control with this new company we're just getting off the ground :-) If you have unlimited funds then it's a wrap,no screw will be left unscrewed, we'll use the highest grade earospace industry stainless steel for the new faders, getting inspired just thinking about it... Let's get it done, like yesterday.... Last note, don't misunderstand me, I'm not repping Stanton and I was just an Artist that was brought in and had my moment, I stretched things as much as I could with my creativity...I'm here repping myself and my contritbutions to keep them going and unto future designs...
  7. Taking this thread over, my apologies...:-) If Thud did a switcheroo on Dj Tech, that would be rawwww :-)...Woo. That would mean they used Dj Tech as a stepping stone and learning curve, used their resources for R & D and Distribution Channels. Took their design and changed it a bit, added my Post Fader Outputs for pizzaz and if they went their separate ways... There was an agreement with Dj-Tech and Thud on the design or Thud just asked the manufacturer to manufacture some for them... For the most part manufactures have no loyalty, that's why you see similar designs from different companies, even at the component level... Thud has been walking a thin line and doing a nice job of leveraging Q's popularity to be able to work with the different Brands/Manufacturers. Stanton is still untouched cause they are being hardasses but notice Q always mentioning that he uses Stanton Turntables in his studio, slowly wiggling his way in... Notice they are calling themselves a design company or something or other now, not Hip Hop,Scratch,Turntablist etc...If they become a manufacturing company that's probably when other Brands will shy away a bit, then it becomes a real conflict of interest... Manufacturing... There a lot of small manufacturers that will produce your mixer Hanpin is the go to for Turntables since there is not a bunch of companies making those oems...The name Hanpin is so out there now that they should make their Hanpin products haha... For example Stanton used Hanpin for the Craze Mixer SA-12 and a smaller company for the Focus SA-8 and SK Mixers... The smaller manufacturer was getting so much work from Stanton that they ended up being exclusive... If you go on Alibaba and search dj mixer for example...any of those manufacturers will make you a mixer...Check this one out, http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Professional-2-Channel-DJ-Mixer-DJM_1986502205/showimage.htmlMinimum 30 pieces at about $55 dollars...That's the start then you ask for colors and add or take away features... This is the easy part... That was just a quick search too... The Hard Part is, Tech Support and Shipping to Different Countries and all the other things that come with being a Mixer Company...and that's what it becomes...Do you want to drop everything and start a new mixer company? :-)... With all that said...Funk yeah, there are bunch of scenarios that can play out.....Have a Manufacture do all the Chassis/Metal Works and Circuit Boards get done locally for quality control, or the other way around. The fader is probably the most expensive part but with a grassroots design, it can be done where you install your own fader...Inno or whichever... If it shows up with the low 2 Dollar Alpha Faders, people will be upset... Probably be best to show up with a fader plate and a connector so you can plug whatever fader you want... Get a design going, get a quote and then the old kick starter thing... Any of you scratch homies want to set it off I'm an open book...:-) Who's going to be the CEO of this company we just started? Only credentials needed is that you cut like a Guillotine and have a dope dj name... Start Slow.. Midi Face Plate? Adjustable Fader Plate... Go big or go home? Cover that Slips over Turntable Platter and adds Midi Buttons and Fresh Sauce Controls around the edge of the platter...This was going to be my weekend Make a big ass Vacuum Forming Table and use Oven Project Someday...:-) Right now is prime time for the Scratch Arts and for someone from the Scratch/Dj Culture to create a real Accessories and products company... Siya at ProxFade would be fitting... On personal note: Thanks for crediting me on the Post Fader Outputs, a lot of blood sweat and tears went into the SA-8...Many Years worth of ideas all the way back from when I started in 1986 ( Auto Headphone Cue). The SA stood for Scratch Artist...You guys don't know how much work went behind the scenes. I actually had to go to NAMM One year and have a meeting with Stanton so they could credit me in print on the Catalogs, they did, the catalogs were re-printed with credit. The point of getting credit is to establish yourself and build a body of work that is respected by your peers and as a resume for other companies if needed...If it wasn't fresh, why would someone else want to take it and get credit for it :-)... The Individual Post Faders on the SA-8 also send a Mono signal if you plug into the left Channel only. That was so you could use a Stereo Cassette Player or Any Device that only had Left and Right for recording... This was so you could record you scratches on one side and beats on the other... When you played back the separated recording through the mixer... Each channel had individual Mono/Stereo Switch. Hit the Mono Switch on the mixer... Now you have the beat and Scratch Combined when playing back... Want to hear just the Scratch? use the pan button... Now you can hear your cuts all by themselves and check your progress... You could also share with the Scratch Ninjas... Upload to the net and add the extension .scr to make it easier to search...etc.etc.. The individual Stereo Mono Switch also worked with my Scratch Records...from my first release I layered and panned Hard Right and Hard Left the Ahhh and Fresh and other sounds... In Mono Mode you could switch between the two with the Pan button... On the Tabletools "Formula Scratch Record" I separated the Beat, with the pan you could break it down like whatever you want... I also did sounds that went from Center, to left and then to Right Scratch Sounds...On and On homies...:-) Everything I've ever done has a connecting thread and it all connected with the Sa-8 mixer... With the Axillary all you needed was the SA-8 for Recording and Playback and you would not get feedback... Lots of Easter eggs on the SA-8...If Stanton fixes the bugs and adds Midi to that design it would be a winner right now... I've always had the intent to make Kits to add Individual Outputs to existing Mixers, plus other features... This is still the plan and it's why I keep it alive, plus a good starting conversation if approach a company... Eventually I'll do a website devoted to the Focus SA-8 Mixer...The Greatest Story, Never Told... Anywho, much respect if you can keep the message alive, I still have to put a bigger dent on this mutha****n scratch scene...
  8. Those M44-7 have a really high output too, it might need to be attenuated a bit...
  9. Get ready for a 10 chapter story with Typos like a mofo....I don't come out often but when I do I make up for it :-)... The details were worked out along time ago in linear years, most of the design drawings/plans that I posted from my books on FB date back to the late 90's and early 2000's...I saw it as Mutiple evolutions going on...Scratch Techniques / Equipment and Scratch Records...I took them all serious :-)... Notice the Stroboscope design on the Focus DSM-9 Slipmats? Had to do it like that so there where no aligment issues with the sublimation printing...Everything I did had/has a purpose... To get it done where it is pressed into the record, requires preperation from beginning to end (Sound Design to Cutting to Pressing)..that's why you need an Mastering person that's a friend of a friend or some ish so he can be patient with it...I was also more introveretd back then and couldn't really express what I wanted to do... I'd tell them something and they'd go down a different direction or act like it's dum idea or this is a silly haha...That was then, now it's different and we have better tools...It stills require money though that hasn't changed :-)... As a quick example on some real simple and basic ish imho.... I wanted to do what I called a "Trap" like a Sand Trap in Golfing.... That was just Lock Grooves on the Outer Edge with or without sounds so that there would be a 1 to 1 1/2 inch area on the outer egde, if the needle skipped badly it wouldn't go off the edge :-)....F*ckers didn't want to lock a track unto itself at the beginning of the record...Why? Swamp got it done... How about start cutting at 1 to 2 inches from the the outer edge so there would be this large blank section on the edge for me to do some ill Nana Stuff with it haha....No go....I still need this by the way and hopefully part of my new release... How about the Spreading? Blank Space between Tracks...They can adjust the spreading to give you better visual markers between tracks...You don't want to have to make a 10 second blank track just to get a better visual marker... The trick was/is to know what they will do or can do and then improvise around that... Back to graphics...... To get it done after the fact it.... You're are right Printed Slipmats / Custom Print on record / Custom Printing Graphic Sheets... 1. The Printed Slipmats are doable and can be elaborated on with a few twists...See DSM-9 Slipmats... 2. Printing onto the Record or Engraving or Laser Etching.... I've done the Printing and Engraving, no Laser Etched but same as Engraving for most part...... 12 Inch Skinz prints directly on the records underside to print on the Vinyl Adhesive for the Mixer Stickers you have to use Solvent Ink, same ish as they use for outdoor signs... You can find a Silkscreen Shop/Print Shop that has a DTG Printer (Direct to Garment) and you can get your Vinyl Printed for $20 or less out here in the US. They make a White Solvent Ink for those printers so it will lay down a white background and everything prints fresh..Probably Clear Coat it with some Krylon or Art Clear Spray... As a side note, that plastic feel from those stickers was never my thing, the full color graphics is what gets everyone going though.... In the beginning most of this dudes were making Paper Stickers for the Center Labels and Clear Coating them...That's how I use to do it too...One of my friends ordered some online and when they arrived the smell of the Clear Coat was still strong haha...He was mad as hell for sure... :-) That leaves us with: 3. Doing the Custom Printed Sheets....You just make yourself a pictrure disc after the fact, just for show or aligning sounds... This works good, some assembly required.... This is just one of the Features for my own ish and not the main feature but since there are already some of you dropping vinyl then I thought it be coo if we got some Clears to experiment with...They could be a small run of the pressing plants minimums... I left out some of the real meat because I'm not trying to give it all away otherwise my on work will loose it's thunder plus next thing you know, Dirtystyle records new innovation, them dudes can be cut throat with their competion, definitely jealous of those rich mo fos.. :-) If anyone of you are dropping Vinyl soon and want some more details on some of this, I'm down to share...send me a message via FB or E-mail ...
  10. The motor speed control circuit is a mess of incomprehensible resistor networks, but it all boils down to the diagram on page 4 of this datasheet - http://www.rcscomponents.kiev.ua/datasheets/upc1470ed3iuf.pdf- "RT" controls the torque and "RS" controls the speed. RS is selected by the 33/45/78 switch, and RT is controlled by the pitch knob. So when you're varying the pitch you're actually varying the torque, dunno why it's set up like that. I'll rip it all out and experiment with different values of RT and RS when I get a chance - maybe we can get more torque at low speeds. Yeah man I'd love for other people to have a go at building this thing, hit me up if you have any problems with it. Here's an updated version of the schematic that should be a bit more flexible as it has input signal biasing (will work on devices other than the PT-01) : Yeah man, will have a few of these made up and see if anyone wants to buy them. If you wanted to put them as a standalone faderbox you'd probably want to add input and output buffering, which is simple enough but would have added another 6 opamps to the design (so at least another 2 chips). Yeah man that's me, hit me up on facebook. I'm nearly finished the PCB design, here's what I've got so far : Super fresh, I'll hit you up on Facebook soon too....Making some kits so Scratch mofos can use their High Quality Faders is needed asap. Some other plans I had was to make Kits to add Individual Outputs to the 05 Pros or any other mixer that might need it...That's from my SA-8 Signature Mixer and now added to the TRX Mixer but, it's just adding Op-Apm kits you know...Same with FX Sends and Returns...a few other kits in mind too... I don't want to go into too much of the details but overall I think the new eco system is to make some kits aswell as have it be open source and those with skill can build of that and those that much rather pay and support Scratch Arts will do so...I saw the Scratch Fader Box you made too haha sick... I noticed you were asking about making it purdier, I have some simple ways you can make your own faceplates, those freakin skins/printed vinyl stickers effed up the game plan so I never released these print your own faceplate kits but, you can definitely make them without any major tools...I'll give you that info too...
  11. Yeah basically to do a clear vinyl or a pic disk vinyl or some sort of etching that would provide some sort of visual cueing system is the dream, but to do it on a pressed record is totally possible but expensive. Its about manually lining up your design with whats been already cut. And theres still a risk of the motion of the press affecting your carefully lined up stamper.... Its something i would love to do but will take time and money to perfect Word, man excuse the 3 chapter post earlier...I over embellish a bit sometimes and it took away from this Turntable topic which I much preffer..:-) Some of the pictures from my design books on facebook have drawings for a Skipless and Heaphoneless record... Headphoneless is pretty much self explanantory... The obstacles I had for any of the abstract ideas was that the engineers are more geared towards cutting sound for quality and weren't open to doing or trying what I wanted... ...Lock Beats and Parallel Grooves and Record Playing Outwards are standard but some of the heavy duty ish would require finding a Mastering Engineer that was down to be experimental. With that said, things have evolved now and I'm pretty sure they are more open to try different things... I worked out a couple of methods to align the sounds back in the early 2000's and since then There have been some advances in Record Cutting that has made it even easyer... The Clear Records are for artwork after the record is pressed to be able to custom designs... Worst case secenerio it's a novelty with custom graphics on vinyl like slipmats, best case scenerio Scratch Braniacs run with it and make into something greater... The alignment is just one small component of the full master plan..If you do press some 7 inch records, it be cool if you drop a few Clear copies to experiment with, heck if everyone pressing 7 inch records did some Clear copies that ish would be ideal.. I have one in the works but don't think it will be out before all these that are already in the pipeline...Anywho, continued succes with what you are doing,...
  12. For sure, I released The "Precision Incisions" 1 and 2... 7 Inch Tiny Scratch Records back in 1999 and I see a few people have them on Discogs...I'd say those should be in your library...:-)
  13. It's Silk Screen Printed the only difference between faceplates and the Tshirts is the ink and Mesh Count on the screen they use. The best thing will be for you to do the Scanning of the Artwork or Reproduce in whatever software you use. This way they won't charge you an arm and a leg for that. Printshops usually charge a Screen Charge and Setup Fee, that should be $50 or less per color...They will know which inks and screen mesh to use if you take the MPC in... The real issue is the Curing of the ink...Most of the inks they use go through a conveyer Oven once printed. So they will need to use Air Dry Inks or UV Curing Inks instead or You might have take the Case off so it can be run through the oven without melting anything....This is very important to remember... Here are other options.. 1. The Signshops that print directly onto thick signs use a Flatbed Printer and they might be willing to print it out for you...The issue I see here is their willingness and Aligning to make sure the print is aligned right...If they are willing to do it and take their time it's possible... 2. Some Silkscreen Shops have DTG Printers (Direct To Garment Printers) which they use to print full color T-shirts and 3D Objects...They might be willing to do it...The MPC will probably fit through their machine... 3. If the Fonts are not to small and graphics too crazy, get a Signshop to cut out a Vinyl Mask, stick on the faceplate and paint it, then remove the mask... My best estimate is under $100 will get this done, which is good for only 1 piece and customized but you will have to do your research and not come off as too much of a rookie when you walk in to this places otherwise they'll get yaaa :-)...Good luck...
  14. hmmmmm, funny you should say that..... Well, I predicted it too...:-).... Let me tell you a story...In one of my books I have a list of different Scratch / Breaks Records that I wanted to either try to get licensed or at least motivate the Artists into releasing them on a 7" Inch Format to kick start this ish back in the late 90's...One of those records on the list was "Super Duck Breaks"... Licensing a Scratch Record" Who ever heard of such a thing :-)... My label partner at the time called StonesThrow /Peanut Butter Wolf and asked to license Super Duck Breaks..Peanut Butter said he would talk it out with Babu to see if it was possible...The answer came back and it was a NO :-)...Next thing you know they dropped a Super Duper Duck Breaks 7" inch teaser and Stones Throw has been dropping 7" inch records ever since :-) Check the time line on their releases... Let me tell you another story, at NAMM I was giving away "Precision Incisions" my first 7 inch Scratch Record and Serato loved the idea...Next thing you know, the next NAMM Serato 7" Inch Limited Records being given out at the show...I hear it's a collectors item now...:-) So in my note book there is a list of Break Records I wanted to license for 7 Inch Releases and it's pretty interesting... The idea was to condense them by using the most recognizable Beats and Sentences, end result would be 2 things....1. You have a Fresh 7 Inch Record and 2. The Scratch Training Part....You could go from 7 Inch to 12 inch record which already existed...Here you get into muscle memory ish... It would be coo if some of you went back check some of my sentences and sounds...All the Ultra Pitching is there and Reverse Sounds and it's all in my notes too...for the time most of it was too experimental and overlooked...and this is before turntables had a 50% pitch range...and come to think of it.At the time of my first 7 Inch,There were No Vestax or Numark Portable Turntables...check the timelines.. Anyhow...I was going to message you because my game plan is to release "Precision Incisions" 2.5 or 2.6 :-) but you kinda beat me to the punch with your center label and alignment waveforms... I was going to do that, with some artwork or markings but on the underside of the Record itself... Part of the game plan is to press a Clear 7 Inch Vinyl to be able to do some Custom Artwork... There are more features, since I gotta make it extra special, it will be my first release since 2001 :-) The point is that If you're dropping a 7 Inch record soon, I'd like to convince you to press some clear Vinyl so we can Frankenstein that sucker...I'm down to share some of the other secrets for the cause...
  15. Is the speed selector just a switch that switches between different value Resistors and the VR1 does the additional speed adjustment? If so then maybe getting rid of the 78 rpm speed and converting that to use the 16 RPM... Most of these portable turntables use the same parts from the same manufacturer, there was a Ebay seller selling all the parts minus the casing awhile back, I was looking into adding the parts to re-introduce my Scratch Practice Pads with Audio, definitely good for any of you do it yourselfers to make your own design. I'm waiting for things to mature some more and I would really love a CNC Router too... I think if you do those upgrades you mentioned and sold the upgrade kit they would sell good and help the Scratch Arts. For On the Go Cuts the Audiophile quality might be overkill but the Speed/Torque Control and Fader Circuit would be excellent... I'm going to try your Circuit with the 4066 when I get a chance if you don't mind, I do have a bag of them somewhere...I was never a fan of gutting those Vestax 06 / 05 and pros to make the Scratch boxes but it does work and they look good... This Fader Cut Circuit would be a good kit to make by itself, that way it would be easy for anyone to add a Fader and make their own basic Scratch box or External Fader... I never released an external fader because the High End Faders were expensive and the low end ones weren't quality enough, now here we are with these Frisk and Raiden Faders using those low end $2 Alpha/Noble faders and selling...blew my mind but I do like that it's Artists within the Scratch Arts releasing these... Scratch Ninjas just want to Scratch and it's the only options right now and that's why they are selling...It's not the faders it's the un-tethering but just wait another month or two when the faders start to get staticky and bleeding and you'll see the importance of these Fader Cut Circuits...There will be riots :-) With a Fader Cut Circuit VCA or Analog Switch...A battery powered External Fader can be made...That's what the Photomos was for and to add Contact-less Fader to a One Direction Portable Turntable...It's all free territory so anyone one of you readers can get to work on some of this ish too... Would you mind sharing the PCB layout? Are you the Rasteri that's my facebook friend? I have some stuff I can share with you too...
  16. and.....If I remember correctly those Ion Turntables are Numarks lower end brand but essentially they are using the same guts... Check out the Crosley Turntables too, they have so many variations, not that expensive and look like they are Mod Friendly...
  17. Playing catch up with some of these posts... I haven't tried these D Battery Shells but they are cheap so one of you give it gooo...These battery battery shells with some rechargeable AA Batteries might be the answer to get more battery life...Some of these battery chargers are down to 1 hour and even less... Check it out.... http://www.ebay.com/itm/10x-Plastic-Translucent-AA-to-D-Size-Cell-Battery-Adaptor-Holder-Case-Converter-/261951423965?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cfd8585dd
  18. You guys are on fire with this... Do any of you have experience using a Photomos? I was looking for a way to keep the parts count to as minimal as posible and they seem promising... I just ordered a few but if any of you have an old pc soundcard of fax card they usually have a photmos chip in there somewhere...It be ideal if we could add a few parts, add power, audio input and connect fader...As usual the Clicks/Popping is the issue... These Raiden/Frisk Faders are coo to keep the momentum going for Scratching but they bring it back to the old days of not having high end faders in mixers since they are entry level alpha/nobel faders imo... Focus Fader V1.0 was just a IR Transmitter/Receiver since the 05 already had the VCA Circuitry everything fell into place and the timing was right...This could be the same thing with these Portable Cut Machines, a Photmos plus battery, modified Vestax or other fader Mechanism with IR Pair and done... Adding a Variable Potetiometer would be cool for the Ultra Pitch Adjustment...This gives room to make some Ultra Pitched 7" Records...
  19. Well, looks like I better add 2 cents here....Let's put this in perspective it was first done in 1998, what was going on at the time or what where you doing then? I usually like to start off with that first since we take things out of context and for granted...We live in the present and assume everything was as it is now. The internet has changed it all, acces to information and parts at a fingertip. For scratching super clean cuts is what we are after...special mention that the grand Epiphany was possible due to Vestax using the VCA Circuity...That was the catalyst...So big ups Vestax you made it possible... Good job with this ish though, from the get go if you were around in the 90's/2000's the plans were online and my perspective was that it was easy to do so any of the Scratch Ninjas could do it for themselves, using Hall Effect Sensors or Optical Sensors etc..any type of transducer you could hook up... My surprise is that there is not that many Scratch Heads doing it now or more often, Everybody has dead faders laying around so why not take your favorite Vestax,Rane,Alps,Stanton,Alpha,Bourns,Noble,TKD,Pro X fade etc etc...Slide potentiometer and add the sensors the you have your own custom made Super Scratch Purpose Fader... For example the Innofader which is what all the really Cool Kids are using in school now I found out is just a Bourns/Forward Electronics Mechanism...If you prefer that feel then get you some for a few dollars online... There are so many quality mechanisms out there now and that's 99.9% of it if you are into Cuting and Scratching... All that extra circuitry is fluf and you don't need it for cutting it up fresh... http://www.fwd.com.tw/doc/pd/RFXXBTK.pdf That fader you used is an Alpha Fader and you added the shutter to it, so essentially you made copy of the Focus Fader V1.0 first run...The Alpha Mechanism was used and larger Sensors... Parts are not that critical... From my Facebook page, first run Focus Fader V1.0 Alpha Mechanism with Larger Sensors.....
  20. You on a role Backtrack, really fresh...How about holding down the 33 and 45 buttons or double click etccc. This would eliminate the drilling. I could never get good stability once the speed was at the low level...To erratic and dots going crazy like you mention...Put me down for 2 if you get it going...Skip the remote crontrol stuff for now ;-)... This is how far i got back in the early 2000's...
  21. My first post Scratch Fam...Nobody told me this is were all the activity was happening... This a re-post from Skratchlounge and getting the word out now the my Scratch wheels are rolling again...I still havent' seen anyone do it and it's probably due to the majority of Scratch Ninjas are on the left side of the Turntable now... Those of you proficient in the TTM System how would this scratch be transcribed? 1. The Ripples created in the 1998/1999 period by Dj Focus all documented 2. If you want to be on the first floor of some new innovative scratching here is your chance because not many people picked up on this and it's been waiting for my return or for someone else to do something ill with it. ............................................................................... First let me give you and the readers the background since history needs to be retold. 1.Back in 97/98 I was just like everyone trying hard to come up with my own Scratch, the Flare and then Crab had come out and everyone had the same mission. 2. One of my favorite techniques was the Hydroplane especially seeing Mix Master Mike do them. 3. The Hydroplane sounds to me like a Reverb Effect so while brain storming for ideas I though what if Could add the Reverb Effect to every Scratch Sound while scratching with them...you Following here? 4. Then the concept came to me, how about Forward Hydroplanes? 5. After trying different things the last thing I tried was the Palm of my hand! This was 1998. I tried and tried but all I was getting was drags with my palm, but it was so close that I new on was on to something.... 6. Fast forward to 1999, My crew and I had just gotten back from "Bboy Summit 1999" where we debut the "Focus Fader" for the first time. I was at Dj M2's house (former crew member)celebrating his birthday and having a scratch session. He was on the phone with the girl dj from the crew Top Rawmen and I was trying to get that dam "Forward Hydroplane"...it was 2 am or so and then one time Blammmm! I got it haha. I got Mike (M2) of the phone we popped in a cassette tape and recorded the "Ripples" for the first time in history. Later on I figured out that it was easier to do the "Ripples" with slippery slipmats. In the beginning I called them "Forward Hydroplanes" but they sound different, because the palm has more surface area then the finger. Then, I was thinking "Waving" because of the watery sounds like waves and from there came "Ripples" aka "The Vibrating Palm" 7. The initial idea is written in my books,It was recorded in 1999, video taped by Dj Infamous Allies 2000,Craze was supposed to the do it in his DMC 2000 routine but it was to soon and he didn't have time to practice it,ITF planned on releasing it in the 2000 video but where having money issues for the releases and at the same time Yoga was supposed come out with his new Scratch. Anyone Remember that? Turbo Frog? I wanted to wait for that too cause I new I had something better haha. old school Ego ish. It's all peace now. 8. The "Ripples Technique" is a technique because you can control how much of the Hydroplane / Watery effect to give the Scratch Sounds. You can start by doing Faderless Flares with the palm, I call that Taps Vs Clicks... 9. Focus "Ripples" aka Vibrating Palm http://web.archive.o...proceedtop.html Scroll and read about it. http://hiphopgame.ih...com/djnews.html If anyone has any questions or need help getting it down just ask. Not too many people picked up on The Ripples and there is still plenty of room to create new Styles and Techniques. The great thing is that you can add fader clicks to the Ripples and create some ill variations... 2 Click Ripples. 3 Click Ripples etc... It's been a long assss 14 year wait...:-)...
