That was a cheater switch, I tried to convince Stanton to not use it...If you didn't use it much and it's just dust, disconnect it and flowd it with air or cleaner...You can take it apart to clean manually but make sure to pay attention, the springs and bearing inside can be tedious when taking it apart..... If the switch is bleading with it's to one side or the other, you can add some tape on the edge to keep the switch from going past the bleed point... Also play some music while the switch is disconnected and see what happens...Been awhile but I think you will still have sound coming through without the switch... If you don't get sound without the switch you can short the wires to route the audio signal from the phono or line, whicver is the one you need working.... If you have regular line switches...from another mixer you will be able to retrofit it easily to, it's just simple On and Off switch...

If you are going to order this Kit for the 5G make sure you let Kev/Kab know...I recently sold one of the original kits from 2015, went to Spain and big headache getting it returned due to not compatible with the 5g... There has been changes made over time according to Kev, not sure if there are a few versions...Tripple check with him before you order.... Also I was the reason why a 2nd Ultra Pitch Kit was posible, put some respekt on that ish :-)...
  3. Ok I think I see where the miscommunication is and also getting a bigger picture epiphany. 1st. You think I'm joe shmoo bedroom dj with his arts and crafts tools, giddy with fun ideas to share and asking for help...I'm here and accesible so ahhhh... 2nd. You value your text/words as if they are more then what they are Text/Words... 3.... 1st. No Home skillet, one thing people miss is that although I am sitting here in the Beautiful USA I am first generation Mexican, I was picking fruit in the fields with my mama when I was 5 years old. Point? Sob Story? Ew looky meeee? No mofos this Hip Hop and Scratchy stuff was a way to bring my family out of the bottom so beyond the love for it....I ate and breathed ideas and creations to bring to life so as to accomplish bigger things... Not saying any one of you homies out there had it good but it's hard to compete with ish when I man is trying to uplift his family...This stuff was not just fun and games...blah, blah, blah... All this is very,very played out, same mofo story, almost done though, soon you can be the number one guy. 2nd. When I say share I wasn't reffering to your words...I'm talking about go in your mofo garage spend a few days or weeks and show the results, don't blab about how expensive your tools are or how much time it took you so you won't share pss...show new patterns, show new techniques... If I show a new scratch I don't need you to preach about all the different varitions and ish, go and learn it and then show the variations. I've been tapped into the flow since I was born, I'm never out of ideas... I read zero newness from you so don't flatter yourself, show some new patterns designs or an effed up record in the oven and let's go from there... You want Embossed, drill some holes and add rivets or recessed screws with round head...or, or... Pss been there done that...millions of variations... Your critique of my the record is retarded as hell, pure low key hater ish imo. 1st you are making the assumtion that you and I are on the same skill level. I've never seen or heard any of your work and you've never touched the records I created. Only thing you are showing the world is that you can't do hydroplanes with the record you made for yourself and that you have a lmited imigination to modify or create some new ish... I already told you, look at the 2nd picture. Part of the record is untouched, copy that if you need surface area for your finger to catch and skip.......or learn the Ripple.......or adjust your technique... There are different line patterns, some closer to each other to adjust the frequency of the textured scratch ....Sirness on inta had no problems rockin it and it sounds like your are 10 times a beast on the cut... Just cause you can't do something doesn't mean the rest of the world can't. That just applies to you, keep your limitations to yourself and don't spread that ignorance. What? You think I can't Scratch? The pattern I designed has rhyme and reason not just some coo looking etchings and for the millionth time I'd be cool if other Artists tried other designs so we can come up with common elements. This is not/wasn't just for me... One thing that occured to me as I was typing is that maybe some of you homies on the otherside of the world are rich middle class kids that got into Hip Hop/Scratch Arts/Turntablism so it's a different perspective. For me it was/is that we were all just coming up and a part of this thing we loved. Whoever made it or made something that was it, it was on....We were all in the trenches, for that reason the Focus Fader was only $60 when it came out...blah blah,,, I'm thinking some of you homies came in after the Golden Age when all the hardwork was put in and just enjoyed scratching, now just enjoying the percs standing on shoulders.... Zero sense of self sacrifice for the art or greater good... Am I right? Hopefully I'm wrong. . I'm starting to think that I should just drop some ish on the scene, avoid personal contact with peeps. Do the traditional route, manufacture and get distributed and you can support or not support that's on you. Spent the last 2 days doing more experiments so I can come back and post like a jackasss haha...Go enjoy your 7 inch skip proof records and leave me alone... Nah in closing...This rant is not out of anger, I bring the same passion to growing my vegetables.., My intent was to promote these Tactile Records and it's turning sideways, I'm coo if this is not something Scratch Heads are into, just let me know and put it out there with all honesty, don't BS...
  4. Whatever dude, I started this thread with genuine intention to contribute and move things forward not attract drama. It's been awhile since I posted here... Been at this since 1986 started from the dirt, most of the equipment I've puchased and work I put in still hasn't been paid from scratch nerd ish... So far you haven't contributed anything in my point of view and already talking about learning your lesson and not sharing, I don't know what that means. Your response is the typical response I get from people that don't know how to be selfless and share. When I speak about sharing, it is not for me, you got zero to teach me in the field of manufaturing, design and invention, all you wrote is ish I did back in the 90s :-) geeez.... I'm just not trying to take over and put everything out there, working on being a tream player for my own humility and wanting this to be a mutual project then go from there... I had 3 interested parties that wanted go bigger with partnerships and designs and instead I posted here and everywhere and pm'd a bunch of people, like jackass haha.... Keep it moving, if you're not going to share with the Scratch Nerdom then we ain't coo... This is my last response to you...Getting back to the Art and Scratch Science talk only...
  5. This is fresh, 3rd man records did a release a few years back so someone is doing it, had it on the list of ideas....If I remember right. It was, laser etch after the record is cut, they adjust the laser power so it is barely etching the top of the grooves...or they laser etch the design and then cut the music over it... With the Tactile Record I had to do the "Focus" first and the cut the texture lines over it. The text is still visible and texture being the important part is really pronounced... In regards to the Poko thing don't shoot the messenger here...The originator came from the Lathe Trolls forum back in 2013, It's how I planned to aling scratch sounds to records and was a little nown process. They call it Groove Graphics... I did a post back in Febuary on the FB Mod group, pointing it out along with a few other coolness that is out there... Since the graphics is actually sound converted, one can align the graphics with the 1.8 sec skip-proof technique... To date nobody has done it, since I'm not active pressing vinyl figured someone should do it and put it out there.... Anywho, link to the mastering service after the jump...Thud will be all over this so runnnnn hahah :-)... Now in regards to the Tactile Scratch / Control Records...The grooves need to be deeper then what these laser etched and pressed graphics give imo. The deeper the more pronounced but this is the kind of trial and error I'm hoping we can figure out through Scratch Nerdos experimenting. These Custom Tactile records I am making, I do a few passes over the same lines/graphics to deepend the groove... That's why it take 45 minutes...There is definitely a seperation between etched records for cosmetics and etched for Tactile Feedback... Both are fresh and need more Scratch Nerd Science applied...These old school rockers not seeing what we seeing haha :-)... The point is to start a movement and come up with some coo scratch ish, that's why I share things and even show my design books to get the wheels flowing and brain juices going... Are you saying you don't want to share what you have so far cuase someone will bite your ish? If that's what you are implyint then we are done home skillet...:-).. You don't see the irony?...   7. Ooo... Yes! Instead of scratched in lines, fully cut through gaps of varying widths! It would look kinda like those metsl playters they put on the pt01 already did that, there bpm record pic, has a hole all the way through. That was before I made the 7 inch records, it's an 8inch too. It's no different then my slipmats with the cut-outs, it's all internet connected. Use a dremel, cut t thorught with a hot knife....but like I side for personal use they can get as compliacted as you want. Make sure it's well venitlated if you are doing anything with heat,get a cheap toaster oven at the thrifstore if you do anything with an oven so you don't use it for food also.
  8. If you homies want to try some patterns with the Xacto/Utillity Blade you can use a ruler as a straight edge... Drill a 1/4" hole on the center of the ruler, put the record on the turntable and ruler on top of that, now you can etch some lines on the record, rotate it and add another one... The etched lines will be offset because of the hole being in the center of the ruler...It's a quik way to experiment with some DIY...
  9. It would leave indentations (debossing) and record droops/warps, but your in the right direction. The R&D is what takes the most work, go for it... Like I said I wasn't trying to get too much into the manufacturing aspect, more trying to start a movement with the different designs and see what else peeps can come with so we can discover some common elements that work. Can you uploade a pic of your mod?
  10. I asked some of the homies on FB with a 3d printer if they could print on top of a record some platter dots or a line patterns... If the plastic is hot enough when coming out of the nozzle it will soften or melt the vinyl and fuse together or at least have some goo adhesion...That would make life easier... Most laser services won't cut Vinyl Records because of the toxic fumes, it maybe it's just their ventilation system issues. I think an embossed and engraved record will be a good combination... For personal use you can make a template and add some epoxy designs, lots of combinations and solutions for personal use but too time consuming to mass produce and release into the wild.Don't let me discourage you though.... That only reason to use real vinyl is because we are use to that but any other materials will work, I'm sure there will be plenty of slipmat scratching with the Phase...
  11. Thanks, they feel fresh on the fingertips too. One thing I've always hated was breaking the record in and still that flat surface and slipping/shifting from scratch was mfing annoying...

It's open to experimentation, but the basic idea is that tactile feedback from the record allows you to (a) know where you are on the record without visual cue, (b) know where you are on the record with visual cue, and © further manipulate the sound by using the texture on the record. I still dont get it, if you cut lines in to the record like that, what exactly do you scratch ? Jam Burglar explains it well but I think you are asking as to where the needle goes... These are for use with the Rane 12,Phase or Numark CDX. Digital Systems that don't have a tone arm. That's when I use the term "Tactile Control Record" see picture of Red Record for Scratching with Standard Turntables / Tone Arm see picture of Mushroom Record. The Textured areas are not on the full record, there is a track that is left untouched, you put the needle there, it's about 2-3 minutes of music...Same can be applied to a Serato/Traktor Record 2-3 minutes or a regular Scratch Record....Just etch around the good stuff... That means anyone making Scratch Records can mod their ish now,Mod Serato / Traktor or Diy records you own. The sweet spot for tracking is about the center of the record so that's one thing to consider.

Efhutton "all the ones i tried to make like this ended up slicker than a normal record and no good for hydroplane. the scratched-in lines took away the "stickiness" of the record i tried burning lines in with a solder iron, same problem they need to be raised" Glad there is some experimentation going on..... I was trying to avoid getting to much into the manufacturing aspect. What you are talking about is embossing vs debossing...It is the same problem I ran into when designing the Knobs for the Stanton mixers, the original design was embossed vs debossed, covered this a few years back and with some pictures of the prototypes and design layout. When doing stuff in the lab, it's easy to cut grooves and drill holes, debossing... The point is to take an existing material we are familiar with and upgrade or mod to work with what we have. To get a record with Embossed would be more of a mold type of manufacturing process vs record pressing. This a bigger investment, time and money wise...I've done full stickers,spray on materials,paint brush, glued differen materials etc....Like anything else money is the issue, doing things in the garage then we have to do what we can with the tools we have...I'm having to improvise tools for some of these things, metling vinyl is no easy task, Embossing is on the list and in the end it could be a combination of the two. So far with Deep grooves ecthed it's enough from my experience... If you can post a picture of your work I can maybe give you some advice based on my experince. In regards to your technique, it's not a record just for doing Hydroplanes but you can adjust your technique or I recommend you learn the Ripples... The 2nd record "Heart" "Mushroom" has a section that is untouched, you could do traditional Hydroplanes there or change the design to match your needs... Again it's ground floor, open for experimentation. If you are saying the design you tried is not good for Hydroplanes,then i'd say adjust your technique or ask yourself why it's not working and then change the mod the design a bit. Check out George Sirness on FB and Insta, he is a local AZ homie. He made a few videos before this design was out...You can see Woody commenting on there before he went in the lab for his Grindstrips...All love we need more asbract ideas and experiments so that overtime the Turntable Instrument is polished and refined with the standard features, it's still evolving imo.
  14. Ohhh, I missed this the first time. Good eye, good eye :-)...Like I mentioned before this predates the Digital Systems, it was intended for regular Scratch Records, that's why I label them Tactile Scratch Records too... I left out that second track untouched on purpose, there is a deep groove on both sides of the song and you can add more to create sand traps. You are right though, the etched parts are the Panic Zone / Danger Zone haha.. Actually have it all worked out but concentrating on the Armless System first...Analog Scratch Records is where my heart is.
  15. I remember that video, received lots of messages and links to it :-) when it came out it seemed like an extension of the old battle technique to add a sticker or cut a notch to create a loop. Most of the 90s battle vids have them, it's what I used to love about the battles. Coming up with new things and ways to funk it up. In a way that's where this stuff evolved from it taught me not to be scared to funk up the record or turntable, be experimental... Most of my stuff predates digital systems here is a page from my old design book I uploaded in 2013 to FB page... The blurred part is for future use, but you may find the "Headphoneless" "Skipless" interesting too.When you dropped the record label with the sounds printed a few years back, we kinda got into the printing and aligning the sounds aspect a bit on here, if I rember right....I'll save that for another post, passing on some of what I've learned and techniques. I did contact a few peeps about parntnerships and having different Artists do different designs etc. But it started to turn into something other then what I expected, when I asked myself what the main purpose of this was...It's to contribute to Scratch Scene / Arts and see things grow...So funk it, let's get this out and about. These can be like Slipmats or Scratch records everyone with their own designs. Plus we need to figuire out which patterns and texture elements work best... If you notice the "Focus" text has the texture lines running through it, that was to see if the design would still be readable/visible plus function as itended. It actually came out pretty good imo, so that would be something to try. A more intricate design from Artists with the Texture. Anyone that wants to press one of these by laser etching the masters, I say rock onnn... not sure what the other companies and peeps I message are planning but they won't hear any complaints from me on this one...
  16. Ouch...but not unexpected. When I started interfacing with the Scratch nerdom again a few years ago 2013ish I contacted them. It was underwhelming to say the least, when they bought the Deckadance software it showed how off they were. Also chatted with Serato about 7 Inch Records :-) and a few other companies but they don't seem to be as forward thinking as they used to be imo. I have no idea how things unfolded since 2005 and with the company, I got the cold shoulder when they concentrated on Final Scratch and everything that was released after that and here we are... Crazy how things happen, hopefully someone picks up the Stanton brand does something good with it.
  17. Looking forward to these new systems, makes things easier but in the end scratching with analog sounds the ultimate...On the meanwhile grab an Xacto blade and make a Tactile Scratch Control Record.

Here is a sample of what I've been up to, the Rane 12 and Phase moved the timeline up so I cooked a few of these up and putting them out into the flow. www.djfocus.com The design being used is available for Free via my website, it's a Vector / EPS File. You can use it or change it up, try your own designs.. There is no real standard pattern for these yet, I just go of me experience and intuition, if enough of you experiment maybe over time we can agree on the common elements to keep. What are Tactile Scratch Records for? 1. Grip / Orientation 2. Visual Cues 3. Textured Created Sounds (Hydroplanes/Ripples) Keep in mind these are not the only method, I've Sprayed,Brushed,Glued and etc.etc...etc.. Give that a try too.. In my opinion as Scratching / Scratch Arts are becoming more refined and on it's own lane we can reach new levels. One of my biggest annoyances helping to design Dj products was that they needed to be designed for DJing/Mix and Scratching...That always limited what could be done for pure Scratch Artistry...

  21. Hahah, I didn't know he had a reputation... I had a moment of weakness last night and made a giant post,there should be a character limit on this forums cause here comes another one... The funny thing is that his music speaks for itself, no need to add fluff. There was a lot of support for the Asis site from the scene because it was bringing scratch heads together and was the alternative to the other guys... He leveraged all the support and connects that came from the Asis site to get where he is at now, that's what this is about. Leverage, all the successful people know how to leverage one project into another. It works when speaking to corporate heads because all they know is what is in front of them, they have no sense of history... Looks like he is trying to weasel himself back into the hardware scene, throwing a fish hook to see if he can catch a corporate fish... It's amazing how everyone claims to be innovative but wait till everything is hot again to get put on instead of being trailblazers... Look how far back some of these mod posts go on these forums... It's offensive to those hackers, modders, makerers that put in work because they enjoy doing it. We always have some project going on whether the scene is hot or not, fixing the sink or fixing a mixer same ish. I know, I tend to say some wild ish myself :-) so feel free to pickup any of my works and see for yourself. I can acknowledge that it's not the best quality stuff but the attempt was there and you can hear and see it... Anywho, that's my peace...
  22. I was excited to check out the music since we all know the kid has talent... The previews are nice although one thing struck me as off and that was it... The bio says he inspired modern crossfader technology haha f*kin Weirdo...I've been modding mixers and faders since 1986. My Foculpoint records / Djfocus website had mods and my friend ZV from Sqratchattack convinced me to be a bigger apart of the ASIS forums...I had the first Hamster Mod online back in the days... The first Hip Hop Store in AZ 1996/97 where I modded lots of Geminis... Long story short I didn't know who this kid was, in 1986,1987,1988 :-) and most def didn't inspire me in anyway to do the first contactless fader or anything else in life, geez..haha...I have lots of pictures from my design book on my FB page from before this foo even picked up a record and needle...:-) It's opposite, by design I inspired a wave of Scratch Nerds to take apart their ish and think in broader terms, just like Flare, the Flare inspired the search for new Scratches then the crab... He was one of those nerds that got inspired, I did the First Scratch Practice App then he was inspired to do one too haha...Anyone remember the ASIS App? Maybe that's when he started programming and now has a new Beat App, can I get a thank you? Hahah... Same with the Scratch records all those in contact with me new the science and design I was putting into it... Go back check my first releases you will here Ultra Pitched / Ultra High Pitched, Layered and Panned Sounds, Notes and on and on. This was before there was any turntables with Ultra Pitch...Same with my Reverse Scratch Sentences...Turntables didn't have a reverse button yet...Same with my 7 inch records...Numark and Vestax didn't have portable turntables yet haha... In electronics class I was taking apart Tvs to get the Slide Potentiometers out to use as external faders cuase I didn't want to break my pyramid pr-6700 fader...I was using toggle switches and even a giant light switch at one point in the 80s...Reed switches, paper clips..psss. Maybe he is confused cause I started the Mod Squad Facebook Group and thinks I'm on his nuts and wouldn't comment or some ish. I did it out of the respect for ZV / Sqratchattack and keep his memory alive since the Scratch Arts are on fire again...The Mod Forum was an extension of what I was already doing, fool got inspired by me and got it twisted. I dropped plans for modificationstation.com haha so as to not divide the scene...Again because of my good friend ZV/ Zeevee rip... I appreciated the ASIS days and everyone that was around at the time, the Dstyles Forum and the Piklz Forum all those life events brought me this far... He is retardo claiming he inspired modern fader tecnology shhh...Not only was I doing in 1986 I'm still here and doing it fockers :-)... I respect his Musicianship, that's it, everything else I see as another Human going through lifes motions. Nothing more, nothing less...It's his bio and he can write whatever but those makes me loose trust in his word and loose interest in his music...It's not meant for those that know, it's meant for those new people that fall for fake news easily I suppose haha :-) Paz... I originally called it waving myself :-) Not going to get into the usual 10 page post but imho, it's coo you are bringing the sound/technique to forefront and made it easier for lefties since they took over the block.   25. It's all Fresh I didn't feel disrespected it's your opinion. I think if you had a Facebook you'd see what I've been doing, lots of behind the scenes too. Example, Evil98 gave me a link to those Pro Xs on Ebay over PM recently, that's one of my homies selling those, I pointed my friend in the right direction so even in those small ways,things are coming full circle. I was hooking nerds up for mods awhile ago before that too... If you think I am advising people not to spend money on something they love then you misunderstand. Do you love the Scratching and culture or is it the Innofader brand, if you can afford the Innofader and an FX Pedal it's not an issue it doesn't apply to you. It is intended for those that want a sharp cut for Scratching whether it's homemade or modded and have some funds left to get all the other mods out there or do more experimentation. Somehow, somewhere along the way everyone got Hypnotized into thinking it's the only fader to use, ridiculous. :-) I was being vague so as to not take too much attention away from this forum and stick to the rules within the group. You asked so here is the link. You see where there was stagnation? :-). Cut the Rails of the Rane Fader, make it Micro and you have a beast for cutting... There is a bunch of broken ones out there to play with... Oh, but you love the feel of the Innofader? Find the Bourns Slide Potentiomter for $5.00 and use that as the base. It's made by the same company... This is all old info I've already covered before blah. In regards too shouldn't I be working onnnn...etc...Had a Long post for it but blah... Those of you that understood the spirit of the post, coo, those that didn't coo too...Let's keep it flowing.
