  1. And apparently the silver thing is a Korg Radias.
  2. The blue thing is a Korg Electribe, I think.
  3. I just want to apologise for using that word. It was meant to be funny but on hindsight, I can see it was a tasteless "joke". I do feel my freedom of speech has been challenged but ultimately, whilst I like having my say, it can never be at the cost of people's feelings - and it's not like I wanna upset people over a comment as flippant as the aforementioned. I hope nobody gets sexually assaulted as a result of reading my comment.
  4. Yeah I'll admit it was a flawed argument. In any case, my comment was designed to be quick - I certainly was not out to upset people!
  5. Of course we do all know that the "r-word" isn't just descriptive of forceful intercourse and I believe that "cherishing the original and destroyng the repress" (in this case via the medium of incessant juggling) still applies. I'd really rather people took a minute to use a dictionary before accusing me of being callous. http://oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/rape
  6. Cherish the OG, rape the repress. Next?
  7. I like this a lot. Sounds hard and well-produced. Can't wait to hear the final product.
  8. Sorry if this is old news, but just downloaded this. https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/warflex-gold/id711279938?mt=8 It's good. Nice beats, got a pitchfader and a time-you've-been-cutting counter. Shocking graphics though - if they were done this way ironically, I think they naused it.
  9. It stands for Prolonged Attack and Delay, due to the characteristics of the type of sounds used. They were also pre-programmed chords assigned to the pads of early Roland's. The term was first coined by Patrick "Paddy Fingers" McDaw in 1932. It's all lies, but a bloody good question.
  10. I think owners of Minimoogs, CS-80s, Prophet 5s, Jupiter 8s, etc, might argue that one... not to mention the analogue modulars it's actually emulating. Really though, nerd stuff aside, there's one test all synths must pass to be the best - if left to it's own devices, will it play the Castlevania theme tune? Okay, no, it won't do that, but it will get Dr Dre into a legal battle over copyright issues. Actually, I dunno if the Nord kit was responsible for that, but it does have a TXH deep note as the default setting when you spark it up.

  12. My mate's got a Nord Modular and it is simply the best hardware synth money can buy. And it's red. Just saying.
  13. I can only get the overall latency down to 8.6ms but it hasn't glitched once and it is workable, so am on a leave it. It is down to the laptop being crap, I think. I'm just gonna make do and save up for a better laptop. Thanks for sharing your advice though, chaps.
  14. Long story short (ish)... had a FireWire MOTU Ultralite 3 running Traktor via an Express Port, yielding 2.5ms latency, computer broke and my new one doesn't support FW so I bought a USB 2.0 Soundcard today (actually it was a present) and I cannot get it below 5.6ms without it sounding crap. Question: what is everyone getting out of their NI A6/A10/Hybrid systems? I hopefully have the option of a FW-Express Card-USB solution tomorrow but worry about the resulting latency so am curious as to whether the dedicated system is actually worth investing in. Your time, knowledge, opinion and expertise is appreciated.
  15. I still think XXX with Vin Diesel is the worst use of the term.
  16. And you've only just got a Maschine? WTF?! You're gonna kill it when you pass the 6 month mark!
  17. Was cool to see you all again - sorry I had to bounce but I was soooo knackered!
  18. Can't wait for this. I'll be the bald-headed fool sporting a bright red Supacuts' hoodie! See you later!
  19. I've got Mackie HR624s (1st gen) and my producer has 824's - they're very good but very loud. For accuracy and normal volume environments, the aforementioned entry-level Genelecs are the best money can buy. This is a very common opinion and one I have been hearing for years now. The only reason to go for Mackies is if you plan to give up music and use them to start a phat home cinema system. It's worth noting that whilst they're THX-approved, which makes them able to be used for reference monitors, they were not built with producers in mind. They "can" help produce very bass-heavy mixes unless you get the settings on the back right - you'll know what I mean when you look at the back of one. As assemblyworker touched on, get your favourite CD, where you know the tunes very well, then take it to go audition a few models. Basically, it's not like auditioning HiFi speakers - you don't want your monitors to sound good - you need them to point out any mistakes in the tunes. Buying monitors is the most difficult part of kit acquisition and I wish you all the luck!
  20. Demonstration of effortlessly using a crossfader and being a Boss! Hardly pointless!
  21. It failed. I overestimated how many unused records I have by about 25%. Ikea it is then!
  22. I dunno which comments are serious or facetious any more so I have assumed all were serious and have changed my plan accordingly. Pics to follow cos I'm doing it now!
