  1. Also, this concert is pretty terrible from a performance perspective. Between them, they burned about 3 calories that night. Yaaaaawn
  2. Yeah, I was just kidding - technologically I'm always a few years behind the curve. Nice to hear that I'm not alone, though!
  3. Great to hear that it's an alright deal - back in the 90s I understood CPUs. Nowadays, there is i3, i5, i7 with different generations, numbers of cores and rates. They lost me. What do you mean? Is there are a newer version?
  4. Thanks for the input, guys - I guess I'll just get a small laptop instead. I don't want to spend a lot because I'll use it mainly for media stuff. I might get this one unless you tell me not to get it: https://shop.cc4remarketing.de/notebook/200/hp-elitebook-820-g1-intel-i7-4.-gen-8gb-ram-256gb-ssd
  5. My laptop is finally done for, so I was looking for something cheap like a Lenovo X250 for mobile media stuff and to use it with my 57SL for the rare occassion of DJing somewhere. Now I was wondering if this can be done with a tablet, too and if that's actually a good idea. I've never owned a tablet, so sorry if that's a stupid question. I already have a decent desktop PC, so I don't need anything fancy.
  6. Yeah, Nuo + Eternal is a fantastic combination. I regret it a bit that I've sold mine. I've switched to a 57SL, so that I have Serato installed and because I like how sturdy and reliable the Rane is, but I still miss the Eternal Fader.
  7. There were a few record stores that were memorable because of the funny or trash-talking shop keepers. I particularly liked a store where the owner actually lived. The first time I was browsing the inventory, I stepped into his bedroom. A few months ago I walked into a record store in Vienna. The door was open but nobody was there and Jingle Bells was playing - I feared that the owner might have hung himself in the backroom on Christmas and nobody had come into the store since then but luckily he did show up after 10 minutes.
  8. I might make it as well - any recommendations for places to stay in London and Brighton? Also, do you know when the event will end on Sunday? If I come, a friend will join me and he'd like to fly back on Sunday night.
  9. Is the video available somewhere? Congratulations!
  10. I recently bought Aground on Steam for $10 - it's a really nice RPG with lots of collecting and crafting at first sight but there's also a pretty good story, so it's not just a sandbox game without any goals. So far, I like it a lot. You can play the demo in your browser: https://fancyfishgames.com/Aground/play/ The demo is pretty long and if you decide to buy it, you can export the savegame to the complete game.
  11. I never wear a watch because I'll arrive late anyway. BTW: What happened to that time that Swatch introduced in the 90s? I think it was based on separating a day into 1000 units and there were no time zones. So @450 was the same time in different countries or something like that.
  12. Ohh, I didn't catch that.. Well, that sucks. Why do so many companies skimp on such a cheap feature? It's not only important for scratch guys - have they never deejayed at a wedding where five drunk guests were waving their cell phones with their favorite songs at them? I don't want to pollute my laptop with Single Ladies or Quit Playing Games With My Heart. That's what the Aux-In is for...
  13. This seems like a pretty good mixer to me because I don't need curve and reverse on line faders. But I've always been a bit envious of people with pads and effect sections on their mixers. The old Rane 57 is the most high tech mixer I've ever owned, I have to admit, though.
  14. Dan, how many picks do you go through each year? I wonder at what point it's worth the investment. Now, if you use it to build a few thousand picks to make a custom dragon scale costume to wear at Metal concerts, I'll withdraw all doubts of course.
  15. It looks like even these veterans started out on better mixers than I did! I got this one from a friend for 10€ which is about 9.99€ more than it's worth. Check out the conveniently placed cue potentiometer. Also notice how you could only choose between line and phono signal for the cue. So you either had both turntables or nothing on your headphones - great feature that never caught on unfortunately! They also only included only one input for each channel (Phono OR Line) to reduce weight, so this was the perfect mixer for the touring DJ!
  16. I'm very passionate about music in general but not so much about a single genre. I think you're loosing out on a lot of good stuff if you decide to ignore all other genres. Hip Hop is probably more immune to that due to the samples. Also, you need to keep your ears open to learn from other instruments since there is little formal education when it comes to rapping or scratching. However, I've met lots of people who only accepted "the real Hip Hop" and nothing else - but I can understand that because rappers were to hideous 2000s pop songs what saxophonists used to be in the 80s: a gimmick. Tell your friend to talk to people who are really into classical music, Jazz or Metal - I guess it's pretty easy to find people who believe that they've found the truth within their prefered genre.
  17. Absolutely, they are just revamping the old Fallouts and at times there are even comments within the game about how it's the same plot as in the previous games. Kind of like in Star Wars Episode 7 where they discuss how to attack the Death Star 3.0 and the pilots are not even concerned because taking down a Death Star has become more of a recurring nuisance than a real challenge. It's too bad because they could they could tell so many new stories in both universes..
  18. While I doubt that the Fall of 76 is worse than Summer of 69, I can only imagine that this game sucks! Fallout 1 and 2 were great (a bit buggy and unfair at times but a nice world and story), Fallout 3 was so-so but mostly alright, New Vegas brought some funny twists to the series but it seemed pretty rushed and more buggy than Fallout 3. Now, don't get me started on Fallout 4! What I liked about the original games was the feeling of being a nobody with a mission (like in Gothic), so you had to trick people, run away from strong enemies and sometimes make hard decisions. All of this was gone with Fallout 4. I rarely knew the names of NPCs because there were so many and all quests were interchangeable (Kill Raiders, bring me technical component #2671, ...), so the game was just running towards a marker on the mini map and not caring at all.
  19. Yeah, it's just the first time that I have time and I don't like anything on facebook, so I miss out on eveything. DV is actually my only source of information as it covers politics, sports and yeast extract recipes!
  20. Thanks a lot but the bigger problem are the plane tickets. Everybody wants to travel during the Easter weekend, so most tickets cost 300€ or more (one way). Well, I hope that you guys continue to host more CSGs in the future. If you could promote the event earlier next time, that would be great. Then it would be easier to find cheap tickets. But I guess you guys might not know all the final details a few months before the event, so no criticism intended! Have fun!
  21. So I found some information on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/bierhaus-galway/community-skratch-games-2019/335991220376049/ I might be able to convince a friend to join me for the trip. Unfortunately I can only find flights to Dublin and there's no connecting train on Friday night. So in case this works out, we'd arrive on Thursday and stay in Dublin for the night. Is anyone going by car on Friday and willing to take us with them? Of course, we'd chip in some money for the fuel. Irish Rail doesn't seem too expensive if that doesn't work out. Anyway, let's see.. Edit: The prices are too high for such a short trip.. Anyway, please post about the next CSG a few weeks in advance if that's possible. Maybe next year!
  22. So, CSG is from 19th of April until the 21st? At what time does it start and end? This looks like one of the best events ever - I'm actually very tempted to come over to receive a punch in the face from all of you for years of trash talk on here. I'll check some websites for flights.
