  1. Don't get me started on Monopoly - we just recently played it for several mindnumbing hours. The card game is kind of fun, though. Maybe your kids would enjoy it, too. I played some Risk as a kid but it was a bit long for my taste. Not "Axis & Allies" long but still.. If you're into tycoon type games you might like Junta - it's pretty hilarious: https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/242/junta The "Mad" board game was also fun as a kid - you win by loosing all of your money first. I was never into Chess really because I didn't care about learning all the openings, so I just wing it and then make a stupid random mistake. My room mate spends a lot of time with a chess app, though.
  2. Right, King of Tokyo is a fun game. It always leads to arguments about the Jetpack being imbalanced, though. The best game for having fights with your mates might be Junta - cheating is encouraged since everybody plays a corrupt minister that tries to find allies while backstabbing everybody. Robinson Crusoe is another good cooperative survival game.
  3. Anybody else playing games the analog way? The pandemic made us play some board games again. What do you guys recommend? Our favorites: Bohnanza - a fun card game that everybody seems to enjoy https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/11/bohnanza Legends of Andor - it's new to us and a lot of fun so far https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/127398/legends-andor Arkham Horror - a very atmospheric cooperative game. You can even play it all by yourself https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/15987/arkham-horror Descent: Journeys in the Dark - also great atmosphere. One players plays "the dungeon" and the rest tries to fulfill quests. It's a real dungeon *crawler* - one false move and you might die, so you spend a lot of time debating what to do next. https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/17226/descent-journeys-dark
  4. I don't play FPS games but Starcraft players are pretty fast. This one's several years old and they keep getting faster. I've played it for years but I'm stuck around 130 APM (Actions per minute). Pro gamers nowadays play at around 500...
  5. I've played the early access version and now Aground is officially released - I guess I'll play it again now since it was a lot of fun!
  6. Just got this thing for dirt cheap - there is even a non-zero chance of me posting a file before the curfew ends:
  7. That's why the real guys just represent with a police squad in their videos.
  8. What?!? Why??? Does anyone use them for sports or do they sit in a glass cabinet? And I feel silly for debating spending 200€ on a used Thorens or B&O turntable...
  9. Great, thanks for the info. Now where would I get some Ethanol when everybody is mixing germicides in their basements..? I'll give it a try!
  10. I know that I've read something about this issue once but can't remember where. I have two Reloop 6000's and they have this very sticky film on the bottom which is a bit disgusting. Does anybody know what causes it and how to remove it safely? And no, it wasn't me - I bought them that way and others have reported this problem as well.
  11. Amp: Denon PMA 510AE - very satisfied Speakers: Some cheap Phillips ones - I might replace them with something different. I had some nice and small Quadral Maxi 50 speakers before.
  12. Alright, got it - thanks! To anyone looking for a concise introduction to the subject, I can recommend this video:
  13. His supreme mathematics sound interesting - anybody knows a good text book on that matter? 1:30 "Scientists say that the earth's been spinning for billions of years. I say trillions!" The interviewer seems to agree by grunting affirmatively, so I'm also convinced now. Another plus: since the earth is now a thousand times older, Steve is comparatively young. ... I'll go and pack my bags.
  14. Well, most people don't know about the English word "fagott", so there are no word plays that I know of. You either say "Ich spiele Fagott" or "Ich bin ein Fagottist". However, you'll hear lots of bad jokes about oral sex since wind instruments are blowing instruments in German.
  15. They seem to cost at least $1000 for a beginner model. No idea how good those are. Fun fact: Did you know that the German word for Bassoon is "Fagott"?
  16. Good lord, why don't you guys just learn a proper instrument like the bassoon or something... ... Hippies ...
  17. https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/product/kingdom-come-deliverance/home I just bought this last weekend and now it's free for two more days... Oh well. Anyway, this game is amazing! I never liked Skyrim that much and didn't really care for the Witcher series. This RPG however is great in my opinion. Very captivating story, good mixture of hardcore RPG elements and playability, skill-based combats, loads of different ways to play the game... I could go on but just GET IT! BTW: This review is a bit old but they have fixed some glitches in the meantime. It's pretty flawless so far for a game of this size!
  18. I don't play that much anymore. Starcraft 2 is still great (it's free to play in case you didn't know - great campaign, multiplayer and custom Arcade games) Well, now I just bought this one because it's on sale on Steam (15€): The file sizes of games have really become ridiculous: 55 GB!!! See you guys in a couple of months!
  19. Songs to play while renovating:
  20. Some more items to add to your list: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Muriva-701354-Sparkle-Wallpaper-Roll/dp/B00UZ9NPHQ/ https://www.amazon.co.uk/Zdada-55x55-Sequin-Square-Tablecloth-Gold/dp/B0785NQMXT/ https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dotters-Bullion-Stopper-Doorstop-Decoration/dp/B07DHMSF1W/
  21. I like this one: http://www.dj-rooms.com/room-by-rod-skunk/ There are lots of interesting rooms to look at on this site. Just don't spend too much money on custom furniture in case you'll add or sell equipment in the future. And get rid of useless stuff!
  22. Blueprint agrees with you: For me it's either the 50's (so many new styles, new recording technologies that allowed for better sound and longer tracks on vinyl) or 2000's (electronics getting to a point that synthetized sounds no longer stuck out like a sore thumb).
