If it's not melodies from tunes that are slightly flat due to the pitch control not actually reaching certain notes in mid 90s routines I'm not interested... Although to be honest I am a little interested, mainly because of the Brain Jr element.

Samples that display a producer's complete lack of imagination in their sound sourcing..... Or samples that are great for catching cod. -

Fruit? I was referring to tasty alcoholic beverages, preferably with umbrellas in them.... There do seem to be a lot of butthurt internet DJs who use the 'I'm doing the artist a favour angle by promoting their music' which I don't really agree with. How many sales were garnered from the track being featured on a mix and how many of the 100 or so people who downloaded the mix thought 'oh I like that song from the discotheque and it's on this mix, I don't need to buy it now because it's on my discotape playback machine' vs. 'Oh I must rush out and purchase the full discotheque 12" mix because I love to listen to music that features an additional 32 bars of drums at the start of the song that really doesn't have much point unless you are a DJ'. And people getting pulled up on bait samples. Good. -

Hmm.... There is a difference between the venue and the net though, most venues pay money to PRS, which then by some massively convoluted process, goes back to some of the artists.... eventually...... might take a while though.... if you're lucky. There is a lot being said by DJs on this matter but I haven't heard too many artists speak out. Either way, how soundcloud works has no effect on me so playing devil's advocate a little... -

Yeah on my OG Machine... Also I've been getting rogue MIDI messages due to the iffy connection. It's worth checking that's not the cause of the other issue. -
Not cut for a few years now, apart from the odd tiny bit when I've been down to Rye. Still making music, just explored other areas.

I'd be up for something a bit like the original MPCs but larger, heavier and more cumbersome. Then I would kill everyone with lazers. It's unlikely to happen but everyone's got to have their dream...

Custom MIDI controllers...

I would but I think at this stage I want to keep things under wraps, there's a lot of snakes out there and this kind of technology in the wrong hands could be dangerous.... -

Frequency of light, for example the trigger would work when a red light was flashed but only a red light, if a green light were flashed, another trigger would opperate. As a side note, it already looks like the Arduino was a good buy, it works with Max MSP (which I already have) and there seems to be way more info online, I've not had a reply on the Livid site.... Tomorrow looks like I'll have made a paper piano, a nice little step forwards! Ideally I think having both working together would give me the most options, perhaps Arduino/Max doing more of the synth stuff and then controls activated in Live by the Livid Brain etc. With the infrared sensors I could turn the room into an additive synthesiser!! Things look like they could be getting interesting -

Nice one Rasteri! That's just the kind of info I was after, many thanks. Could be interesting to control filters/amplitude/sample loops with distance! Any idea how I could get a light sensor to be sensitive to a particular frequency? As a side note, just copped an Arduino UNO. Once I have something interesting built I'll update.... -

Cheers for the input peeps.... Yeah seen some interesting stuff on Instructables, will give those other links a look. -
Anyone here tried putting different switches in MIDI controllers. I've got a Livid Brain Jr which I've used on a couple of projects but these have just involved using piezo or pressure pad type transducers. I'm starting a new project and want to control MIDI CC with light sensors. I'm sure it is possible as essentially it's another variable voltage transistor (correct me if I'm wrong!). My knowledge of electronics is pretty limited, although I'm reading up on things more. Does anyone know of a good starting point? I've asked at the Livid forums as well as searched online but have been yet to find anything with light controllers. Just a heap of stuff about using MIDI to control lighting. Any help greatly appreciated!

It's only ever been a problem doing daytime gigs on hot days in the summer.... Trouble is, right now it's summer, there are hot days and I have gigs. Whoever invented seasons is a prick. -

Do have one of those stands and although I didn't have it Saturday when the problem was, I don't think it would have been much help. SDD would be nice but I want at least a 500gB drive, or else I'd need an external plugged in most of the time. A 500gB SDD is out of my budget. -
Possibly the geekiest thing I could ask... Does anyone know of a good, reliable hard drive suitable for a laptop with LOW POWER CONSUMPTION ratings. Currently using a Momentus XT which is proving to be troublesome. Am considering a HGST 750GB Travelstar but am open to suggestions.... Basically I'm having problems live with my laptop overheating and the CPU going off the scale, it's only an issue with daytime summer gigs but an issue all the same. I know the current one has a power consumption of around 3W and the HGST has a power consumption around 1.8W. Less power = less heat. Less heat means more beat on the street, you get me. Help greatly appreciated

I find frequencies around 2.3kHz much more of an issue. Had some argument with some dick online about 400Hz once, he was a spastic. Hope that helps.
