  1. painful isn't it.... I'm all for people starting somewhere, and these competitions are giving a great window of exposure for people who wouldn't normally have one, but it's as if having 8gazillion social media followers qualifies you to pretend you're a turntablist. I long for the day Vekked and Jon enter and make the competition go and cry in their hugely expensive home studios, although they're probably too oblivious to the difference to be affected!... I certainly wanted to do that when I saw their DMC online sets!
  2. This is the one that prompted my rage... It seems people are trying to juggle, going through the motions and not caring/being oblivious to the sound being way off, but thinking it's ok cos it's the same movement done by a decent tablist....
  3. anyone else sick of this wild card competition? I go to youtube and my feed is full of Red Bull entries of people i've never heard of who've put more time into arranging their pouts, "swagger" (god I hate that word) outfits,go-pro cameras, custom equpiment set up etc etc than their routines and "skills", there's a lot of cringe worthy viewing and listening!
  4. nice one for sharing those Pete!
  5. I wouldn't bother with it tbh, seems like way too much work outside of practising on your decks to prepare the tracks, or if you really want to use it use traktor till serato makes it better?
  6. I got the gist of it from this video, never going to grid my tracks so pretty useless for me, most tracks I play seem to be badly gridded by default.
  7. I thought Back Again was really good, and clever video, that always went down well when I played it anywhere...
  8. haha! that's interesting as I had the remix on 12 before I ever found the original, if only I knew then what I know now......;-)
  9. Remember seeing them at Scala around '99 or '00 - Thought I was a big fan; Iriscience was in the bar and I started talking to him, saying how much I liked Babu's cuts on Work the Angles to which he promptly corrected me that it was Revolution and not Babu...the conversation got a bit more awkward from there and I think we went separate ways! Hope I didn't pronounce his name wrong, that really gets his goat... Jokes aside, got a lot of time for them of course and whilst I don't follow too much what they do anymore (do they still put out new stuff as a crew or just solo stuff now?) you always knew what you were getting from them...I can't speak much for more recent times but bar This Way with Kanye they def didn't disappoint! Sounds like it'll be a great gig!
  10. This worked for me when I tried it once, don't know if it will work on this forum though http://www.washingtonsblog.com/2013/10/how-to-specify-start-and-stop-times-in-new-youtube-embed-code.html
  11. of no help to the original poster i'm afraid but also reading this thread with interest for somewhere/someone reliable who'll service my Technics..
  12. good to hear mate, just ordered mine
  13. yeah step one's blog is great. Also have a look at 1994hiphop.com. They now use a file upload site that you have to buy a subscription with but some of the older uploads you can get one upload without signing up to anything normally, (uploaded for example). Absolutely brilliant resource for 90's hip hop there's very little not there and if it's not there they normally upload it upon request.
  14. blimey..... my brother's reading this thread with great interest!
  15. Greets everyone, trying to keep a monthly podcast style show going for my blog with the best Hip Hop I've heard of late, here's the latest one, a very DITC heavy show! 16. I just read this thread from the beginning and think I need to go lie down in a dark room somewhere! On another note, any fader mods left Rasteri? Incredible to see all your ideas come together and great projects coming to life here...
  17. cool that is some invaluable insight thanks Vekked!
  18. Sounds good....I had the 909 and whilst lifting it was a hernia-inducing experience, it was built to last!
  19. Just wondered how this was going as haven't heard any negative reviews, have any minor problems surfaced yet? Are any Rane users wishing they never got rid of their 62's for the S9? I'm guessing with the cheaper price you miss a lot of the build quality of the 62 and may eventually end up paying the same in replacement faders/dud pads etc but it would be encouraging to hear if that's not the case!
  20. I'm gutted I "had" to spend two weeks in Costa Rica and missed the last one guys , but April sounds good as haven't been to the Bristol one before...any date yet?
  21. cool, thanks for the heads up...I imagined cables were an area worth investing in if I did do any modding...
  22. top tips guys thanks a lot! If anyone came here by searching for the same problem and not vegan alternatives to cadburys black magic this page which seems very reasonable (Manchester - UK) http://deckdr.audioaddictz.com/ https://www.facebook.com/groups/AARepairsServicing/?hc_location=ufi DV, the only place where techy turntable speak digresses to vegan confectionary!
  23. well I guess there was plenty of years where the techs were just gathering dust and only the PDX s got some play! Cool I'll speak to Ad and have a go, see if I've got the bollocks for it!
