  1. ^^^ yeah Joe makes a great point, old school tech would have a huge influence on those guys technique - for instance all of the ISP dudes have insane line fader stabs
  2. ^^^ Ive been using and will continue to use the above vid for practise motivational purposes. Anything but another world scratch title for IQ will be a shocker at SMF, my aim is to simply not make a cunt of my self and to progress beyond round 1.
  3. Cheers Dan! World finals will be piss easy.....
  4. Like Broke says, practice.... Super rapid tidy stabs can especially take a lonnng time to develop - most of the best guys known for stabs are djs that have been cutting for over 25 years.
  5. Probably far to late for feature requests but worth a shout.... a built in 2 in + 2 out class compliant interface with independent I/O controls would be sooooo useful on a portable deck. The ability to use iOS fx apps via one cable (like on the new Pio mixers) would make a portable deck infinitely more flexible
  6. Ah mannnnn, I would happily/keenly driven the length of the country to of had dabble if I wasn't already busy this weekend.
  7. We did it guys! Love how SSS has jus effortlessly stumbled in to such badass event for the UK scene @Dan - really sorry to hear that dude, glad to hear things have improved tho.
  8. Much love DV Thanks for all the response dudes, loads of great points for me to mull over. @SnotGrass - thanks for sharing that mini doc, its dope! @JoeClockwork & Rockwell - the scratch track based project with the band is 4 tracks in total, Holy Calamity (bear witness 2) is 100% getting the cover treatment
  9. @Zetrik - See Rasteri above post for who did the cuts
  10. Only jus heard that "Because Im Me" track for the first time today, live horns of that would sound mad dope I remember liking it when it came out to but I think that was mostly because I was chuffed to hear scratching on day time radio 1, Ive never had a copy of it. Be interested to see what others say but Im getting the vibe that its mostly non scratch peeps who like it. The big brass chorus is whats drawing the dB bossman towards doing the cover, which I wouldn't mind hearing live but there's nothing else about the track I'm interested in reinterpreting.
  11. Remember that thread where I asked suggestions for seminal tracks with scratching in.... http://www.digitalvertigo.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=40565&hl= I was on the hunt as the brass band I play with have come up with the idea of doing a 4 track ep that has something to do with the history of scratch. TBH Im kinda of in two minds about the idea myself, its really dope that they wanna do something like this but personally I'm not overly keen on making music the within a concept/theme. Any way.... the band bossman has locked on to "The Avalanches - Frontier Pyschiatrist" as a track to cover, which Im not feeling. What I find interesting is that when you consider my original thread "Seminal tracks with scratching" Frontier Psychiatrist didn't get a mention, its probably the most commercially successful scratch based track of all time and very fitting to the original thread. But... does the scratch community actually like it?? edit: bah, dam typo in thread title
  12. Good stuff dude, always good to see other Tablists using the loop recorder
  13. Nice one D! Because of the inevitable running out of time on saturday CSG eve I ended up only doing a 30 ish min version of the set, some of the left over tunes and mix's were my favourite bits which motivated me to drop a home recording of the set so the last planned 15mins could see the light of day Also - thanks to the DV mod for tidying up the mixcloud HTML link code
  14. ^^^ Lol cheers Mark mate! I'll upload the wav file after work tomorrow dude!
  15. Finally pulled my thumb out and stuck a mix online (first one in over 10 years ), its a home recording of the dj set I done at this years CSG. Features music I most enjoy mixing and cutting to - electro, dub, halftime D&B, Jungle/Footwork etc... Bigups to Symatic for doing some guest aaah(ish) cuts on my electro track "Lets Go" that kicks off the mix. Made a few vids for promo ish, gonna be spamming my socials for the next few weeks in hope that I might achieve more than 30 plays. If your into it I'd really appreciate a share on your on ya socials, spunked probably a bit to much time putting it together but really pleased with the end result and was mad fun doing a gig of this kinda music for a change. Track listing Lets go (feat Symatic) - Dubbadutch Bongo (Kahn & Need RMX) - Youngstar Hoochie Mama - 2 Live Crew Lockjaw (Akkord RMX) - Special Request (L) Liberty - Clap! Clap! 16. Loved this show, loads of tunes Im gonna be hunting down after hearing this. Dope to see Nutso get the love from both Danny and Itoa
  17. I havent seen anything from him recently but he did some VJ content thing a year or two ago, not 100% but I think it was some promo campaign for the video pluggin for Serato dj
  18. Top stuff last night Vekked, really informative and executed to a pro standard, kudos
  19. Nice! I'll definitely be tempted to pick one up if it turns out to be around £300
  20. Currently I use concord carts but have had s-120 on OM carts, I dont remember any noticeable difference tbh. One thing is certain with S-120 that if there under or over weighted they perform terribly and sound awful, even slightly over the suggested weight has a visual impact on the timcode scope - changes perfect circle to a squished angled egg shape. Definitely not like Shure where you can bang on the weight if there getting skippy. S-120 such a good all rounder, minimal record wear and designed for DVS use is what drew me towards em, jus not the greatest skip resistance on 1210, but there rock solid on Stanton 150 and decent enough on PDX
  21. @dirk - what problems did you experience with S-120? Ive been using them since they came out, Im terms of combining all 3 in one stylus - sound quality, staying in the groove, low record wear... nothing else competes in my experience, incredible needles.
  22. Innit, durability etc... difficult to speak of with only a few months use from someone who cuts at his level
