  1. Kin hell... Such a dope final, hopefully the rounds leading up to final will be up at some point. Bigups Dopez!
  2. @doob - Think Jack jus uses Logic when he wants real kit sounds on his own e-drums but will give that pluggin a mention. @TBear - Cheers dude! The track in the vid is our closest to finished from our other stuff, the next thing with this tune is having a mess around with the chords and maybe some other instrument sounds in DVS. I've only jus starting using Ableton in this way and it makes this kinda live play super accessible - pretty quick n easy to make up loops and variations on the fly - arrange clips in to scenes across intro, breakdown, verse, chorus etc... then the dubbing delay stuff jus helps give it all some movement and live play feel.
  3. Man that was such a cringe moment, what a silly billy he was!
  4. Some drummer cam footage (My interface was being a dic so metronome had to be sent thru main speakers for drums to stay in time with bass line)
  5. I've all but lost the appetite for creating turntablist style routines these days, which is mostly down to the fact I wanna learn more about making music. What Im loving about this dj + drummer project so far is I get to use the stuff I've picked up from doing routines and apply it in a different way but still has dj orientated work flow. Jus having the e-drums running thru my mixer where I can filter and add fx results in dirty great big grin on my face.
  6. Cheers dudes and ALL CAPS PETE @mfsop - funny enough a module like the one you shared for putting triggers on a real kit is something we've been looking at doing with the brass band so we can develop a more authentic electronic sound when the band does D&B stuff. The old school Vdrum kit in the vid has mesh heads but only the earlier versions, the module is proper basic and 90% of sounds are naff AF. As things stand Im pretty keen on not using a real kit, the practicalities of electric vs having to mic, mix, setup, move and the space a real kit takes up is stretch to far to jus gain real feel. Ultimately the kit samples we want to eventually use will all be electric anyways. Im hoping Jack will go down road of an Roland Octapad style device where he can jus add decent quality e-drums - basically biting the electric rig in the vid below, seems most practical to me but all down to what Jack prefers. And then have one mic for live looping some real perc into Ableton where I can dub it up. After last summers experience of festival gigs with an 11 piece brass band Im now keen to make this dj + drummer thing practical and as easy to set up as pos
  7. Myself and the drummer - Jack from the brass band we're in are starting a new ting, super early days but Im keen AF to develop this into a proper live act. The vid below is jus a super ruff jammed out improv vibes of one of our tracks. Its been mad fun working with Jack, in the short time we've spent in the studio together we've already got 5 tracks well on the way. Current work flow is jus listen to some music we're into for inspiration, search thru instruments/make some patches, create some melodies/basslines etc... and then jus jam it all out and add some live dubbing and cuts = instant fun End goal is to create a live show but got a long way to go and a bit of equipment to buy before thats feasible. Currently the electric drum kit we're using is a super dated V-drum rig, so we need a kit we can put our own samples into so we can make our D&B/Jungle and Dub stuff sound authentic. Mixer wise Im currently using the Rane 61, such a dope powerful little mixer but the last time the drivers were officially supported was years ago so the interface doesn't run smooth enough to be trusted in a live environment. That new A&H Xone 96 mothership mixer seems like the best mixer for the job to act as the main hub for this kinda thing, 6 channels, two send FX channels, two separate headphones monitor outs, quality mic amps/filters, analog, mad flexible routing options etc etc etc.... Vid is set to unlisted as not interested in putting out there but wanted to share on DV for some feedback and thoughts.
  8. Ha thats nuts Im guessing babyality isn't a MK thing anymore?
  9. My bad, I meant STR8 which the straight arm version and ST is the S arm
  10. Gotta admit feature wise this is right up my street, I would of loved to of seen a real deal C1 update killer vs cramming pitch platter features into the body of an existing model/OEM but they've kept the price at an affordable level by going this way. I feel the combination of a the new Button Box V2 and a midi modded PDX 2300 (for the pitch jog stick) is more of a challenge to a C1 than this Reloop deck. The Pitch Platter play isn't really the biggest draw for me, Ive been mucking around with midi platter control for years and for the most part I find its super useful for jamming/figuring stuff out and then I bounce out notes to cues or make riffs/melodies files etc... vs having to fuck with epic platter speed changes which suck for scratching. But the flexibility of having this stuff built directly into a turntable is gonna be mad useful. What excites me about this turntable is we could finally have a newly released Super OEM deck that challenges the existing best OEM deck = Stanton STR8-150 (IMO). Considering the MK2 8000 has been heavily developed with Dj Brace I feel confident that Reloop will have righted the wrongs that exist in all the other OEM decks, time will tell. Only concerns for me are more software based, the level of Serato integration could signify that eventual plug n play native support for the pad modes with Traktor will be a pipe dream, so I'm keen to learn if the LED output across all the pad modes are hardwired vs being able to control LED on/off with custom mappings from Traktor. Recently I've been using DVS capable mixers without dedicated software controls which means using extra controllers for Traktor, so the midi stuff on this deck would be a big plus. I've been wanting to buy a new turntable for what seems like an eternity now, love my PDX but beyond scratching it sucks at everything else (build/sound quality etc...) and at 10+ years old I'd like to stop relying on my PDX for the weekly heavy work loads. Gonna give it at least a 6months to a year before I consider investing in one, plus Im hopeful a straight arm version might drop at some point.
  11. If turntablists (the type who actually get shit done that is) were running these battles it would be a different story I feel. I do have to say that when I did IDA G jiggy was nothing but amazing and really went above and beyond to take care of me. I did have my own apprehensions pre meeting him in RL as from our online chats and stuff Ive heard it seemed clear to me that he wasn't really a proper head from the scene. But after meeting him in person I'd say he does have a big heart but maybe doesn't "quite" have the handle on the scene that any of us would have.
  12. I was literally hovering over the buy button for the gold pack last night but wimped out, thanks for money off code Doob! (heads off to the wave site...)
  13. The standard of this is ridiculous, great collab! Would def like to see more ClockMosWorkChops material.
  14. This^^^ Yup mad respect to the killers who totally over came how fucking dog shite half the gear was, I on the other hand totally crumbled. Im not sure if the deck was faulty or all Mixars tables perform that way but once I put the deck into minus 40% pitch territory the the torque literally vanished to the point where I was basically doing motor off cuts, the motor actually completely died and turned on/off on me several times. I talked to Jose later that day and said he noticed the same thing and kept his pitch normal because of it. Made me realise how conditioned Im am to high torque and ultra pitch so Im definitely gonna be focusing a lot more on my 1210 cuts from now on. From my own point of view I was always gonna be out of my depth with the level in this comp, especially considering how badly my flow sucks in live battles, meh.... but fuck it, I'll keep on entering freestyle battles for the fun of it, experience and in hope that I'll one day get to the point that I can rep what I can do at home #safespacescratcher The terrible sound from the deck Jack was on sounded to me like ridiculously overweighted ortofans, the new versions of the scratch ortofons are dope but take a lonnnng time to bed in properly and gain there full skip resistance ability.
  15. Early days but yeah its all laid out in easily digestible chunks, intrigued to see how the more complex stuff will be taught. The thing I really like is the tutors (or atlas the one Ive got) are active pro musicians at the top of there specific field.
  16. @Phil - online with Point Blank covering all aspects of production using Ableton, going to an actual college would of been cool but jus not practical with work, where as online I can get stuck in when I want etc.... So far Im really enjoying it, I know a lot of this stuff you can teach your self with all the available free resources online but having an actual detailed structured course to work to (thats cost me money) is the best way to keep my easily distracted mind on track. You get a weekly 1-2-1 session with the tutor and there's weekly live streamed class's where you can get questions answered. Apart from wanting to focus on making music I've been wanting to get into Ableton for time and after only a week of learning it the software Im seeing so much potential for both my own live show and also stuff I do with the brass band. Unsurprisingly 99% percent of the other students on the course are into..... tech and or minimal house, because the world always needs more of that
  17. Cheers boys Yeah both ZED10 or 14 tick all the box's, considering the brand it seems like the best chance of getting a decent bit of kit at £200 - £300ish
  18. I've recently started a music production diploma so I'm eligible for student discounts (standby credit card). Ive needed a studio mixer for time but haven't a clue where to start or what brands are worth a shout or avoiding etc.. Requirements Minimun 4 channels inputs Minimum 2 stereo outputs (one pair XLR) USB audio I/O (class compliant interface would be nice) Advice from experienced DV fam much appreciated x
  19. Seeing these has made miss the glory days of being able to buy random audio components on the high street at Tandys(RadioShack)
  20. Dj Andy Smith on FB hasn't had a good experience with the Jicos, he posted that they weren't very skip resistant
  21. You came across in the vid well mate, clear, concise, no nerves etc... Difficult to say which Id use more, DVS via smart phone on a portable has its limits to the features of the software and the bonus of cutting up any digital samples, I could definitely see myself using that of sure. The option of being able to switch the USB input to pre or post would at least give an option of having USB fx loop, one cable from deck to phone to enable easy access to every fx app and loopy on iOS would be dope and especially appealing to the vinyl only guys. With "Audio Bus" on iOS you'd be able to stack up all sorts of fx, instruments etc... all routed to the master output of the 7PS. When I used to have the Pio Nexus2, from the iOS usb fx loop and via Audio Bus on a iPad/phone I used to run a scratch beats app, two instances of a delay apps (for either side of loopy) and then, Loopy = have a freestyle cut over beat, sample some scratch some drums in, drop out the scratch beat, then do some live looping, add delays etc... Having that scenario on a minimal faff portable setup would be killer IMO.
  22. Ive jus seen the live vid from the other day, really impressed to see how well thought out and the flexibility of the current features. A message Rasteri if he happens to swing by - Firstly, kudos dude! Proper happy to see how heavily involved you are with the 7PS, instantly reassuring! With the dedicated DVS USB port (which is fucking killer BTW) it seems that the architecture is practically in place for that port to also support mobile/iOS FX apps. You mentioned in the live stream vid that the DVS USB is of course pre fade, would it be feasible to add a pre/post fade switch option to the USB audio input? As that seems to be the one thing missing to make the 7PS work with apps like Loopy HD for post fade sampling.
