Want a new turntable, what to buy?
scottie(the)goonie replied to Clownstyle's topic in MUSIC/DJ HELP
At this point in my life, I would love to have a fresh pair of 1200 mk7's. Assuming I have them for life. -
What games are you guys playing at the moment?
scottie(the)goonie replied to Steve's topic in TECHNOLOGY & GAMING
I'm stuck in a gaming rut. Toolbox Fallacy. I keep buying games I think might be good and not wanting to invest the time into learning them. Griftlands, ARK, Subnautica Below Zero, Disco Elysium. I'm chasing the feeling of suspended disbelief that I crave. I miss smoking weed for this reason - it helped me really enjoy a game. -
Dad Rock playlist from Future Mix...
scottie(the)goonie replied to savwar's topic in MUSIC/DJ RELATED
Nice man. I used to make my Dad CD's back in the day as gifts (he's sort of a technophobe). It was pretty much what you were trying to avoid. Lots of Steely Dan, Led, Stevie Miller, Doobie Brothers, and ZZ Top. I find myself enjoying my parents music more than my music. I love classic rock and blues. -
There's some awesome games coming to Game Pass this year!

You should play it with your kids. It's simple to get into and fun. It's a game about deception. -

You guys are funny. You see a cinema camera and instantly think of what YOU would do if you had one. @djdiggla I do vape/smoke wholesale. That cigar lounge is one of the retailers we supply to. I got the camera because I've been editing/color grading for the last few years and my set up was built for 10-bit 4k+ footage, but it's super hard to actually ahold of footage that isn't licensed. Some of my friends who edit for a living have been nice enough to send me super legit Red/Arri footage (shot for Netflix) but obviously I can't actually post anything. Not sure what I'll shoot. Maybe post up in Malibu hills and record canyon cars?

Pulled the trigger after 2 years. I didn't realize what I was getting into financially. I knew that the lens was going to be expensive, but even the tripods range from $1k-$10K (also, do British keyboard have a £ symbol above the 3?). Whatever. Welcome to my life. There's no turning back. The only thing left is to learn how to use it.

^The Triniton was the last of the best CRT's and I think they were 16:9 as well. Side @jeljms if you're into PC gaming at all, the modern ray-tracing graphics cards (RTX 20 and 30 series) can perform well on none other than... cathode ray tube TV's. Some youtuber did a comparison. If you can output a modern ray-tracing game to a CRT, the fidelity is amazing even at low-resolution. I'd buy a CRT myself just to try this out.

The interlacing is smoother on CRTs for those old NES type games. It's not enough for me to go out and buy one. If you're using an emulator, the graphics are handled differently and looks good on a PC monitor. Not sure how good or bad it will look on a large OLED TV, but I have a LG C9 OLED and I can say that frame judder is pretty crappy at 24 frames. Huge downfall of OLED.

@Deft Have you actually cut on 7" vinyl before (not DVS vinyl)? -

Any of you ever get Disco Elysium? I just got into this game and it's more like reading a book than a game ... I'm not quite sure if I like it or not. It got tons of awards (which is why I bought it) but I'm really not quite sure what to think. -
The demo for Ghostrunner is out now

Is this the spiritual successor to Mirror's Edge that I've been waiting for? -
Those PDX are serious business. Anytime I meet someone with one of those I instantly assume they are 100% dedicated to scratching.

I have a 3440x1440 monitor, and my gamer friend decided to 1-up me with this G9. He says it's great for some games but terrible for others. It makes FPS games super difficult since you lose vertical space when you gain horizonal space. Too much FOV makes you sick. I can see how it's good for FIFA since you only need horizonal space. Turns out the most useful thing this monitor can be used for is ProTools.

NEW RANE ONE DJ CONTROLLER

Maybe 10 year ears ago, I had a Denon DN-S3500 for a short while, I really liked it. The only thing that sucked was the sound quality. Recently, I randomly met a dude at work that has one of those PT-01's, but his was customized and kitted out. Scratching on the 7 inch is actually really fun b/c it takes way less muscle to do the same things. Not sure if I'd like that size for mixing, but for scratching it's pretty awesome. -

Finally playing through Deus Ex - Human Revolution, which I bought 5 years ago. I thought that it was cool that it takes place in 2027. I'll get Cyberpunk once I finish this one. -
Anyone tried Ortofon VNL carts?
scottie(the)goonie replied to Steve's topic in EQUIPMENT & AUDIO PRODUCTION
If these track better than my (more expensive) Concorde MK2 Scratch, but sound worse, then they'll be worth it. I think that cartridge design is still superior, even if the needle is worse - which might be why you get 3 of them. It's hard to be heavy-handed (scribble) on the Concordes... I miss my shures. -
@Steve Same thing for me. Holding mouse 1 and releasing it = double click. Sucks for games where you have to hold and release. Sucks for regular use for dragging text. It affects all the newer Logitech mice (I have a G Pro Wireless). I have replaced 2 of them under warranty. The third one I took apart and soldered in Japanese Omrons, the problem persists. The internet speculated that it's a mix of low voltage (my mouse lasts for weeks without needing charging), and super low actuation. Somehow this causes electrical switch-bounce. My 2013 Logitech mouse works just fine today.

There's a similar situation going on with high end gaming mice right now. In an effort to make long lasting, low power using wireless mice - the whole industry started using these newer Omron switches that basically develop a double click on an unholy percentage of mice. The problem is that every company uses these switches.
