  1. Voted. Just curious, why didn't you use that routine you posted here a few days ago? Not that I don't like this one, but I'm pretty sure you'd destroy any competition with that other one.
  2. Nowadays, I always think twice before paying to see those "classic" acts. I've paid to see Flash, for instance, and as much as I respect him, I wouldn't do it again. His set was basically the history of breaks + top 40 crap.
  3. My English teacher recorded a Peel Session back in the early 90's. I live in a small Portuguese city with twenty odd thousand people, so finding this out was about the coolest thing that has ever happened over here.
  4. Yeah, flawless victory, your 3rd round was really good. Plus, I think I'm gonna sample your shit talking and use it on my battle routines - "I'm gonna squeeze you... and then drink you... drink your blood, you're dj blood"
  5. I also think that, in the future, we should have someone pick a track (or 2 or 3) for the battle. I waste a lot of time searching for tracks that I'd like to juggle, and I think it's way more challenging if you just have to go with what you're given. Then again, just my two cents.
  6. I'd be in for it. Don't expect P-Trix skills, but it's a good way to improve and to make me practise, so count me in.
  7. Sick routine! And that is one strange dude, lol.
  8. I'm pretty sure they base their decisions on who their mates are. Haha. Virtually every battle I have seen has been judged like this. Well, yeah, that's also true, lol, but not when it comes to international dj's judging a national battle. I was just really shocked to see guys like Unkut, Rafik, etc, voting for weaker dj's just because their shitty skrillex juggles made the audience go bananas. If that's all that counts, I guess the dmc promoters could save some money on flying these guys from Germany to Portugal and just install a noise measurement kit on the room.
  9. Drumming wise, this is what they mean by eurostyle: (from 1:20) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ksb5uMiTvQU
  10. The judging at the dmc's is terrible, it really puts me off from competing. Even over here in Portugal, they've been bringing world class dj's like Unkut, Pro Zeiko, Tigerstyle, Switch, etc, to judge our national battles, and they've made some very questionable decisions. It's almost like they base their decisions solely on aspects like attitude, dissing, winning the crowd, how well-known is the song selection, anything but the turntablism itself, and that's what I would expect my 16-year-old friends to do, not these world champs.
  11. I've already said this on another thread, Jon's routine was by far my favourite entry, I think he really stepped up his juggling in comparison to his 2011 routine. I'm a big fan of Image's style too, but his track selection just didn't cut it for me on this one.
  12. i'd already seen that and what amazed me the most was his set-up. "dj's" with this skill level don't usually own 1000£ mixers...
  13. Pharoahe Monch came to Portugal a few months ago, and they had him play at 4am, so 4pm doesn't seem that bad. I also don't know what time I'll be able to make it, but yea, I'm looking forward to meeting such a scratch legend.
  14. Ahah, noticed that too. Dopp, you're from London too, aren't you? Will you grace us with your presence?
  15. All right then, I've noted down the number that you posted on fb, so I'll give you a call when I'm arriving, thanks again.
  16. Cambian, can you give me some pointers on how to get to your place? I'm staying here, near the underground station: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Swiss+Cottage,+United+Kingdom&hl=pt-BR&ll=51.544734,-0.17488&spn=0.006766,0.021136&sll=51.54139,-0.06916&sspn=0.027065,0.084543&oq=swiss+cottage&t=h&hnear=Swiss+Cottage&z=16&iwloc=A
  17. I'm also considering entering next round. This one's not looking good, I've seen all the uploaded routines and I think I only liked Jon's - which is really dope, btw.
  18. At first, I thought it was a mock video. Lol, seriously, is this for real?
  19. Hey, congratulations man, that's pretty dope! To be honest, I wasn't really impressed with any of their dj battles, so I'm sure you and Jooce will raise the bar with this one. Do you know how long does it usually take for the videos to be released? Oh, and good luck!
  20. I'll be staying in a hostel in Camden, Swiss Cottage I think. It'll probably be easier to take the tube, yes.
  21. So, how do I get there? Take the tube?
  22. two of these (yep, belt drive) and a pmc 05
  23. Thanks, that's exactly the kind of stuff I was expecting to hear. I've been selecting tracks for a while now, I think I'll just mess around with them, see what I can do and start from there. I've also been trying to choose tracks from a similar music genre, just cause I thought that way my routine would sound more consistent, but now that Vekked has brought that up, some of my favourite routines do mix some quite different genres. But yeah, thanks again, I'll start working on it and when it's at a more advanced stage I'll probably post it here in a private video so I can get some feedback.
  24. I'm currently starting to put together a 6-minute routine to hit the DMC's, later this year, and I could use some help. My only experience in a battle was in a freestyle head-to-head a year ago, so I have never composed a full routine, and I always get stuck on the first step, "how to start". I know there are quite a few DMC regulars over here, like Jon, Vekked, etc, can you tell me about your experience? If you have any particular method or if you just build individual routines and then splash them together, how do you select the tracks you're gonna use, that kind of stuff. Thanks in advance y'all
  25. really cool, well done jon, hope it gives your work some more exposure
