  1. Anyone else going by train from London?
  2. I'd be up for that, yup.
  3. I liked it much better than when I first saw it at the UK finals, although that's not necessarily your fault. Agree with Jon, the drumming section is really cool.
  4. Yeah, I read that and wondered if this one was among the dates he'd cancelled. I suppose so.
  5. The irony in this is that I actually ended up having to leave early. The overall level was a bit shit, to be honest, but I always enjoy these events, so I'm glad I went. Gutted for Jon, though, I thought his set had some great potential and it's a shame he couldn't quite pull it off - I can only imagine how frustrating that might feel, but I hope you don't let get it to you too much, man. Special mentions to DV member P-Nuts, whose set was also a pleasant to surprise, and to Kut Class, who kept me company throughout the "night" in spite of me having to ask him to repeat almost every single sentence.
  6. Seriously, though, does this really start at 6:30?
  7. Yup, I am. I don't think I'll ever get used to how early events start/end over here, though.
  8. Really nice. You had me scratching my head for the sample source there, but it turns out this is where I recognised it from:
  9. I'll have to join the Ericuk love-in club. Wowzers.
  10. I enjoyed it, not all of the tracks are exactly my cup of tea, but it's really well put together.
  11. Erick Jay was my favourite by a long mile. His juggles are fresh and original, and he seems to have upped his scratch game, which I've always thought that was holding him back a bit. Didn't really like any of the others, though. Ruftone is technically skilled, but I've developed an aversion to routines using edIT/Glitch Mob; P-Nuts' scratch routine was nice, but his juggle didn't really cut it for me; and Topic was just very meh, that whole style is a bit played out.
  12. yup, that first one is amazing, the d-styles comparison is spot on
  13. Ah, yup, should have known that. I recognized the intro from a few rap tracks, but for some reason just assumed it was the full song.
  14. Super nice. Also, that Gladys Knight rang a bell. After some brain digging:
  15. This one is a no-brainer, really. Why do people hate on the 80's so much, anyway?
  16. How does that tickettailor thing work, do I just book the tickets online and pick them up on the night?
  17. Just heard about this from Jon, which has made me a pretty happy guy: For those of you who know the venue, how quick is this likely to sell out? Should I hurry up to buy the tickets? Also, I've looked into it and they don't seem to specify any age restrictions, should I be ok getting in as an 18-year-old? Tickets: - http://www.tickettailor.com/checkout/view-event/id/8748/chk/337b

Good job, man, it looks great.
  19. Last night, I dreamt that Qbert came on this thread and got mad at Eric for trying to rip his videos. I really need to lay off the internet for a while.
  20. Just out of curiosity, though, have you ever battled Shub? I remember him taking part in a KOTD battle a few months ago, and he's probably one of the few Canadian battle dj's who could give you a good run for your money.
  21. They do strike me as the kind of group that must put on a great show, and they have a few cool party jams, but rap-wise, not my cup of tea. Chali 2na is the only mc actually worth listening to, and it's all a bit cliché and tiresome. Then again, I started listening to rap like 6 years ago and listened to Feedback way before I listened to their first LP, so that can't help.
  22. I really enjoyed it. Great track selection, although I can relate to Chris's take on Jurassic 5, but Break is probably one of the few of their songs that I actually like.
  23. I can't really comment on your skill level as I can't remember watching you scratch - which probably means your scratching is neither astonishingly shit nor particularly impressive. From listening to your mixes, though, I think you're a talented dj and you clearly enjoy mixing and scratching (otherwise you wouldn't even be arsed to rant about it), so I do find it a little too dramatic to give up on something you like just because Doob made fun of your wank sock scratch, lol. I just can't agree that 95% of scratchers sound the same, though, and the fact that you honestly think that leads me to believe that you're lacking a bit in technical knowledge and you shouldn't be so averse to it. Technique is essential to help you translate your ideas into something, and learning new stuff could even bring back the fun for you. Getting down some patterns won't immediately turn you into a robot and you don't even need to get too nerdy with it: just look at someone like Jon - most of his patterns are fairly simple, but he's mastered the basics and can execute them in a way that almost no one else can, which makes his scratching so funky and instantly recognisable. I believe that's where you should be aiming at, and not at completely reinventing scratch from your bedroom.
