Hey folks, I'm trying to set up 4 ceiling speakers to save space, so I picked up a cheap amplifier 2nd hand and connected it with bare wires. After about 30 secs, it blew up! . There was a bit of smoke and a "pop" sound. Anyways, brought the amp back, told them it didn't work and got my money back so no worries there (even though it was my own fault because I discovered that that particular amp only supports 2 speakers and the impedance was wrong :$ ). My question is, can blowing an amp affect a mixer or the sound quality of it? I just got a brand new mixer (HAK 360), and I didn't test it out before trying to hook up the amp so I don't know what the default sound is supposed to be like. There a bit of feedback noise when plugging in my headphones. I don't remember it being that bad on my old PMC-05. I was just playing an mp3 from my computer through line on the mixer when it happened, so it shouldn't be able to affect the mixer when the sound is being output from PC to mixer to amp should it? Maybe a loose connection somewhere? I was using gold plated jack converter before for my headphones, but lost it, and am just using a regular one now. Could that just be the problem? Sorry, I'm just worried that I might have damaged it somehow as it was quite an expensive mixer, so please tell me it's not possible! Oh and if anyone can recommend a good cheap amp that supports 4 speakers I'd be very grateful! Thanks! Soren
