    Kase 2 RIP

@savwar: Do you happen to know Kube and Maser and those guys? I lived in Dublin for a couple of years and met Kube a few times, nice guy and dope writer. Did a few walls there with Phats and Wes from MSO if you know them, really nice fellas, and some guy who writes Ask/Aske? I think he's in FOES crew now or something. I love Bates and all the other Copenhagen heads, just cause I grew up with their stuff, and I love the classic NYC style. Met a few people in Ireland though who met Bates at the Drogheda jam and said he's a prick. Smash137 is amazing. I love that freehand/sketchy kinda style he started rocking. mtn is more like a stock fader on a PMC05 though, and Molotow is like an Eternal fader
  2. I think I'd get ill playing that from the blurring when you click around the areas But a lot of the new indie games on Steam look quite interesting. Really like the look of 'Limbo' as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0SVGWZuf_s

No ethos really. Most people won't be able to read it, but most graf writers can, you just get used to the way people structure their letters and connections, arrows etc. . For some it's more about the structure and architecture of letter forms and how you get these to flow well, and for others it's just about getting up regardless of what your stuff looks like. I don't think you loose the typographic unity in more complex stuff at all. If you're just making it complex for the sake of it but have no actual flow or letter structure in there then yes of course, but I personally love very complex pieces that are still legible. Guys like Bates I.E he does fairly complex semi wild style stuff but it's still easy to read, even for non graff people. Here's a quick example of more simple stuff (not the best examples but at work so don't have time to look for better) (Bates on the left, then Kent, Atom, Smash 137, Kacao and Can Two). Not very complex this one but not straight letter either. He does far more complex stuff than this but the letter styles are still always in there. The others are pretty legible as well but still a bit of style to them. Kacao's piece is maybe harder to read, but I find it quite easy cause I've been into graff for so long. On the the second example he goes more complex but still easy to read (Bates is no. 4 from the left). Love the 'More' piece as well (no. 4 from right). And the 'Great' piece is a good example of classic New York Wildstyle (no. 2 from the right). Complex but the letters are funky and easy enough to read for a graff writer at least. Then there's 3d styles like the stuff 'Daim' is doing (on the bottom pic). Complex as in it's three dimensional but you can still see the letters easily.
  4. Awesome! I think I watched that on VHS about 50 times.

Oh no. Was just watching him get down with Cope 2 in the Kings Destroy movie the other other day and thought it was so cool that he was still going strong. RIP Kase 2!

    Soren's graff

Not too expensive if you go to specialised graff shops and buy in bulk. Chrome & Black in Shoreditch charges about 3 quid per can I think. If you make an appointment at the Graphotism store you can get cheaper, but you have to spend at least £50. I prefer Molotow Belton to Montanas which can be a bit thin sometimes in the brighter colors. I'd probably use about 10 can's for a piece that size (not including the other guys pieces) depending on how many colors I use. But then you'll always have leftovers that you can use again so sometimes I only have to buy maybe 5-6 cans to do a piece. For the background I always just use rollers and cheap wall paint for undercoating or if the background is just a plain color. For proper productions/murals with detailed backgrounds you're probably looking at about 20 cans each. But that depends again on who does the characters, background etc. I like roller stuff for bombing. Like KEGR's stuff from Copenhagen and REVS & COST from NYC. But if you're doing a legal wall I don't really see the point unless you want to do something really massive.

Thanks Pete! Still bummed we didn't have enough black to fill the background in the bottom one . Would have worked better with a black background instead of green, and then the Space Invaders in pink, yellow etc. like they are in the video game.
  8. Maybe I'm just crazy but I enjoyed what Switch was doing. And I thought it was nice to hear a composer like Gabriel Prokofiev say (in the video interview) that the turntable is an expressive instrument and more than just wikka wikka wikka.

Thanks Chile! Sorry didn't notice someone had posted here lol. But yeah I just use a pencil for the initial outline and then I do a second outline with a fineliner or whatever I have. If I do it full color then I color it in first before I add the second outline. For walls I use Belton or Montana cans with various caps for different things.
  11. That's cause you always lick them! http://www.discjockey101.com/aug2003.html
  12. Great idea Yoshi! Sounds brilliant. I'd like to participate just for the laugh (and a free pint of course). Are you only looking for people above a certain skill level, or would all levels be welcome?
  13. Looptroop Rockers new 'Professional Dreamers' album is quality. Their last album 'Good Things' was excellent as well but I pretty much like all of their albums.
  14. Much prefer this to all your other mixes Jimmy. Really nice!
  15. Yeah I might be interested Jimmy. I like Atmosphere (although I only ever listened to 'When life gives you lemons you paint that shit gold', but I thought that was a pretty nice album). Let me just check the auld calendar, cause I've got a lot of weddings and stuff coming up in November.
  16. Good work Steve. I much prefer this version. It's a lot faster for me too. The only bug I've come across so far is that the signature links don't seem to be styled (or is that just how they look in this theme?)
  17. Nice one Steve! Going to give this a listen tomorrow. Great work on the cover Wax!
  18. I'm not sure If I understand you correctly but if you just want the image with the pattern inside the text you can just hold down CTRL and then click on the text icon in your text layer which will then create a selection of the text. Hit 'M' (or select the marquee tool). Then move that selection on top of your image and then invert the selection (CTRL+SHIFT+I). Then select your image layer and delete every thing outside the text (CTRL+X). You can also create a layer mask instead (by clicking little icon in the bottom of the layers palette) after making the selection in case you want a different part of the image inside the text without having to redo the whole thing (you can separate the layer from the mask by clicking on the little chain icon between the mask and the layer and then move the image around until you get the bit you want inside the text). It's more flexible if you it that way. That's how I do it anyways, but there are a few different ways of doing it. Some people do it like this http://www.photoshop.../image-in-text/ but I find that more time consuming. If it's just an actual repeating Photoshop pattern you want inside the text then you can just select the part of the image you want to create a pattern out of and go edit > define pattern. Then double click your text layer and go to pattern overlay. Then click on the little arrow next to the pattern preview and select the pattern you just created. Hope that makes sense! EDIT: Lol sorry, Chris post wasn't there when I started my reply
  19. Good session guys! Nice to meet you Eric and thanks for having us. Some great help and tips you gave as well mate, lots of new stuff to practice now.
  20. I liked JFB's set and thought he was a deserving winner. Have to agree with Jimmy on the supremacy though. Deceptacut was clearly better in the final. Enjoyed your set as well Jon! It was really good!
  21. Yeah I was gonna borrow Anders big SLR but it's really complicated to use so I'm bringing a smaller (but still very good) camera.
