  1. So a few months ago, my oldest son gave me a challenge. He wanted a funk mix that had to contain Lakeside's Fantastic Voyage. So I gathered up whatever funk i had between records, 45s and cd's. I put my feelers out to get some more funk goodies from other people. And this is the end result. I did not do this one live. had to re-do most of the transitions and edit them. you never realize how much time signatures vary on live instrumentations until you try to use them in a mix. bpm's were all over the place.
  2. speaking of mixtapes. i just posted a mix i did for $Rap Headz crew. i completely forgot to post it on DV
  3. i forgot to post this. I did this mixtape for the $Rap Headz. Its also available as and NFT. I got a bunch of them so if any of you want the nft, send me your wallet address. Its a bunch of emcees and producers. They gave themselves a month to submit beats and rhymes. then i put together the mix
  4. i saw that one a while ago. i been considering getting a loop pedal. i dont really have much time to mess with it, but damn they look like fun
  5. not sure if these work on android or not. but theres some on scratch break https://scratchbreak.com/collections/loopers
  6. another thing. this is more of a rant....... mixcloud is no longer hosting unlimited mixes. now its limited to 10 mixes for free. you got to pay $15 a month to host unlimited mixes. so im not sure where im posting my next mix. i make nothing from this, so its hard for me to pay mixcloud $15 a month for everybody else to listen to my hard work for free. that being said, im sure that will also make your search for quality mixes harder. im sure im not the only one that dosent want to pay and also dont want to choose which mixes i keep on mixcloud.
  7. you can go to mixcloud and randomly pic mixes. but its a crap shoot. depends on what your looking for. a lot of shit mixes out there. you almost have to know dj's to get a good mix. especially if your looking for something heavy on scratching and juggling. Im sure theres alot out there. i find routines all time but mixes.....
  8. i grabbed a huge bag of skylanders with portals for the wii and xbox 360 a few years ago. lady sold it to me for like $40. im not sure how many they made but that bag was packed full of skylanders.
  9. i buy physicals when i can. especially since everybody in my house either has a switch or switch lite. you cant share downloaded games. Its easier to buy the physical once and share those. my ps4 games are half physical half digital. i catch a lot of digital copies on dirt cheap sales. sometime under $10 for some really good games. we picked up a used wii u a few years ago. i ended up getting breath of the wild on the wii u for like $15 when it was $60 on the switch. exact same game. The wii u is actually a good console. Ive played plenty of splatoon matches on the wii u. then the ability to play on the gamepad while everyone else is watching regular tv. that was genius. i think the wii u was just ahead of its time. the actual nintendo licensed games are dope. its just the other games that should be left to playstation and xbox.
  10. The rotary is fun. makes you focus more on blending. this is on budget friendly. shipped from the UK. https://www.gear4music.com/us/en/PA-DJ-and-Lighting/SubZero-4-Channel-Rotary-DJ-Mixer/3BNF#:~:text=Weight and Size%3A,Weight%3A 4.5kg only thing is, it didnt have the cord for american outlets. but its a regular IEC computer cable. cost about $7 on amazon. I got an old NI audio 8 DVS box so im running traktor dvs on channels 1 & 4. and running regular vinyl on 2&3. i didnt have traktor hooked up in this video. I got 2 regular usb web cams. again, cheap finds on amazon. about $25 each. the ceiling mount is an old suction cup cell phone holder from the car. the suction cup tore off. so i screwed it up to the floor joist. the side cam is on a flex arm. its clamped to the joist and the other side has a cell phone clamp. another cheap find on amazon. Im running it thru OBS. all of this is on a separate computer. I use a cheap beringher rca to usb soundcard for the sound to obs. I have it running off the booth output of my mixers so i can control the volume of that seperately.
  11. so for the past few months i been obsessed with rotary mixers. they look like fun and i wanted to get one. Rotary mixer are expensive as fuck. but i found a line of budget rotaries at a gear 4 music. i copped this subzero 4 channel rotary for $350. its factory made and not a boutique mixer. all alps pots. sounds pretty good to me. anyway, months ago i got a stack of house records in that i hadnt really gone thru yet. so this is an unplanned first spin mix with both these records and the rotary.
  12. shoot for the used traktor z2. the only issue i had with the z2 was there was no built in effects. you had to use software effects. but its still a dope mixer. the inno mini fader is nice. i swapped mines for an inno pro 2 which has a heavier feel. i recently got a rane 72. it does some nice stuff, but it is overkill. and i like traktor better than serato. you can get whatever you want if you got the money to spend. but i cannot recommend the high price serato mixers if all you wanna do is get back into cutting and dabble in dvs. I say shoot for the z2 if you want stuff like cue buttons and loop buttons. if your cool with hitting a cue point on your keyboard then stick with your old school mixers and get an interface box for whichever dvs you wanna mess with. most of them are compatible with any interface now.
  13. i saw this interview a few days ago. I usually watch/listen to any interview or behind the scenes footage with Nu-Mark and or Cut chemist. They tell some of the best stories.
  14. how hard is it working your laptop? I havent downloaded 3.0 yet. Im wondering how rough will it be on my laptop. Im running a dell win 10 with a i7 processor and 8 gigs of ram.
  15. i feel like i abandoned my games. I finally finished Miles Morales last week. i had to go around the city stopping crimes for about 30 mins before i did the last battle just to remember how to fight in the game. I started playing Jedi academy on the switch. its an old xbox port. original xbox at that. I started it months ago and got stuck on a level. picked it up again. played for an hour. still stuck on the same level. LOL
  16. good luck at $100. It would have to be used. lately, even used 05 pro goes for around $200. but, i think alot of the mixars come with inno minis in them.
  17. you may be right about it being free. Here is the link for the beta. I havent installed it yet https://the-drop.serato.com/announcements/the-best-real-time-audio-source-separation-technology-serato-stems/ the actual download link is in the beta forums which pops up after you press the join now button. im sure its on the welcome post
  18. my biggest question is if this is going to be a subscription service or not. I wouldnt mind having a quick way to make acapellas. but i dont want to pay a monthy fee for it. just make it an update
  19. my son is on a discord group for super smash bros battles. Discord does video chat too. we use it all the time
  20. New song by my crew GRYSKLL. https://gryskll.bandcamp.com/
  21. https://www.jico-stylus.com/product/j44a-7-dj-imp-nude/ unfortunately the cost of Jico's went up. I only paid about $60 for just the stylus a few years ago. found them on amazon. ever since jico started making their own carts the stylus are around $125. i only started messing with jico because their stylus fits the 447 cart. to be fair, the ortofon vnl was not out yet when i needed a replacement.
  22. I rock with jico. the replacement stylus fits the shure 447 carts. they sound and perform the same as shure 447s to me. Im not the most extreme scratcher but i havent had an issue with them. I been using Jico's for about 2 years now.
