  1. Conceptually crabs are simple but getting them sound right & consistent can take years. The key thing with crabs is they sound way better as parts of other combos - hence why learning all the other stuff is more important (especially as other techniques can sound good on their own even as a beginner). Also: "This type of scratch is not as appliable as open fader scratches" . im not sure if i understand you, but you can start crabs from an open fader postion. A commonly used crab technique is very similar to a triple click flare: fader open crab 3 fingers across fader leave fader open start to pull back crab 3 fingers across fader repeat
  2. So it could be more of an audio issue. Whats the full set up? Is the synth a VST hosted in a DAW? For me using WIndows I can't have two programs trying to access the same soundcard with the same ASIO drivers. If i wanted play a synth in my DAW while simultaneously using Serato for instance I would have to use a seperate soundcard to hear the audio.
  3. I had a look in the manual & there is something about MIDI clock start so maybe have a look at that.
  4. MIDI clock can be a bit fiddly as different machines/programs can respond differently. It perhaps sounds like Tractor is not sending a start message which the the synth needs. Its been years since I've used Traktor though. Does the clock sync to a deck? If so does the arp work if the deck is playing?
  5. More hype coming from Raiden. Looks like the innofader is going to drop soon! <iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fraiden.fader%2Fposts%2F1708971529363266%3A0&width=500"width="500" height="628" style="border:none;overflow:hidden" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" allowTransparency="true"></iframe>
  6. I found it online back in 2009 or 2010, i was using a P&G that was falling apart before that. The store I bought it from was in the Netherlands. Fader was cheap too - about 40 euros I reckon. EDIT : 45 euros was from here http://www.dlse.nl/webshop01/vestax/vestax.htmlThey still have 3 left according to this.
  7. ^ yeah I have one in my 07. It's effectively the same as the 08 stock fader. It has a supersharp cut-in time - without the in/out offset that the innfofader has too (something which I also am not a fan of). I haven't used the ProX enough to compare though.

  9. Haha! I used up pretty much all the swear words and started at the beginning again while I was tidying the mess up. If you ever find me rocking backwards & forwards in sync with an imaginary 0.5 Hz LFO you'll know the Sub Phatty didnt make it. My wife was first on the scene and said she poured "way more than a pint" out of the Mopho Keyboard, so that was the worse hit. My S900 had some water pooled on top of it so I have opened that up just in case. Jin asked if the collection of damp Zip discs would be OK- so i had to explain that Zip discs stop working if you as much as look at them impolitely. There's probably 50 or so records that have damp sleeves too. There's some stuff in there that pains me that the sleeves are damaged, most of them £10 or less & some charity shop finds but still .....it all adds up. The positives are that nothing was turned on and I do have insurance with the Musicians Union which will hopefully cover me if needed.
  10. Dope stuff in this thread. To be honest i thought it was going to be a batttle of the certified classics thread, where we could argue which famous break is the best because it's the most influential, the funkiest, the heaviest, most sampled etc, etc.
  11. Thanks Fellas I have had to dismantle the whole studio as the tables & wooden pieces I use to raise the height were all absorbing water and warping, plus the guy that came round to stop the leak said there was a risk of damage to the celing due to the weight of the water (my studio is on the 1st floor {that's the 2nd floor for the benefit of Dirk & Jamburglar}). It took ages to set up right first time! grrr. I've put the heating on, but we have no dehumdifiers unfortunately. I now have my Moog & Mopho dismantled and surrounded by rice. I got organic rice because I thought that would work better with analog gear right? I also have a pair of swimming goggles half full with a semi-circle of rice - this allows me to see while the rice absorbs the water from my leaking eyes.
  12. Thanks Sy. I'm not going to be home for at least a couple of hours, but i've already told my wife to turn them upside down. Hopefully that will help enough before I get there.
  13. This sucks. In the last 4 months I've been way too busy to do any music and was hopefully going to get some time at the weekends coming up. I just had a call from my wife to say there's been a massive leak from the bathroom above my studio. My Mopho keyboard & my Moog Subphatty now make sloshing noises when you move them around. Obviously they've been unplugged. What else do I need to do? i was going to put them in a box with loads of rice like you would a phone. Shall i open them up to drain some water out? Help a brother out Y'all!!
  14. Not a collection as such, but I have an 07, 08 & a TTM57 all in use. I have the original DMC PMX-2 mixer kicking around but it doesn't power up unfortunately- I'd love to get it working.
  15. http://dynatone.ru/info999004788 These are the Vestax ones I use - upside down as well.
  16. Don't forget to polish yer platter yo! I've used a particular kind of Vestax mat for years, I never got on with Butter Rugs because they always seemed to come off when switching records. It's less of an issue nowadays if i play with Serato but old habits die hard.
  17. I checked the first one on the channel page, "Strings". Will definitely check the others. A friend of mine called Nige used to be involved with hip hop & turntablist nights in Norwich in the late 90's, he was from Luxembourg originallly. Did you ever cross paths?
  18. crazy dope! get that ish embedded yo!! Norwich in the UK or in the US?
  19. No problem man. Hope you get sorted. Steve was very helpful when I dealt with them.
  20. I had my 07 refurbished & modded with a simple FX loop a while back by Steve Hills from Trusounds. They were the authorised Vestax repair in the days of the 05,06 &07. He might be worth a shout if one of the DV tech geniuses don't have an answer for you. Edit: that's for the UK though. I can't remember where you're based.
  21. ^ Haha That's dope but not a patch on Eric B ;-) On a serious note I used to love the super-basic cuts on "Watch me now" , and still do. That shit was RAW http://youtu.be/COeeqAIudhI
  22. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEBDzhVOwYw&list=PL91279743BD7DEAB8&index=4 Maybe we should consider this in terms of Pre-Dr Octagon & post-Dr Octagon? That album was definitely a watershed for cuts on rap tracks.
