  1. ...and songwriters don't spin records. So! Somebody has to get there music out there. If everybody wants your mixtapes, peeps gonna do whatever they can to get on your mixtapes, hence free wax and such...
  2. Once your name is out there, the money will follow. Dont expect to be a millionare overnight. Consistant shows, schwaag from t-shirt companies and people buying your beers because they know who your are. Toss in some Sigma gear and booooyah! Once your name os out there people pursue you. You got the hard part done, learning the skills and beinbg able to create.
  3. I make sure all microphone inputs are muted on my PC. Then I run a mini plug to RCA from my PC to my mixer into the session in. That should work.
  4. All you need is marketing. You have to create an image. Come up with a DJ Sigma logo and use it only always. Make you a myspace page based on your music only. Friend everyone. Get you some cds made (200 to 1000) and give them to EVERYONE. Free! They are not for making money at first they are for establishing an identity. You r job is to make everyone know who you are and what you sound like. You have to build an consistant them to etch into lieteners and viewers minds. Use every FREE resource you can find: CDBABY.net YOUTUBE.com MYSPACE.com SOUNDCLICK.com Skratchworx prolly even do a write up on your mix release. If you cover all the fronts of marketing to create an identity and an image, everything else will sort itself. The music then will do the talking. might take a year, but I am sure you have as much and more of a chance than anyone.
  5. I like the mix for sure. The beat is ill but I dont like the way the vocals sound screwwed. The beat was ILL! Give me a beat to rap on Lorn. I love them dirty basement beats. Seriously, I want a beat to spit on.
  6. I don't know if I quite understand this, but whenever I hear really fresh cuts I start laughing for some reason. Is this what your talking about? Yeah, I know that feeling.
  7. Not a trick question really. Just wondering how everybody understands and applies the bpm to pitch translation. Helps me and other people underatand better.
  8. What do you guys see the BPM range differnces is on different tables with different pitch. For ex. If you have a 95 BPM record playing a 0% what BPM can we get to pitched all the way up and all the way down?
  9. Do yall play with a concept of key. Not just blending two songs but hen you are multi-tracking aswell. Do you just listen and decide it sounds good. Do you actually compare your notes to a 440 A standard in order to make it more cohesive with programming software? Maybe you run through a chromatic tuner ( I have been thinking of getting a strobe tuner for this)? I hate when I have to shift the entire pitch of a track inorder for it stay in tune with software.
  10. I know some people say "fuck tech just do what feels right" and some people say "only do scratches that are clean and planned out." Both schools of thought are viable. I personally try to learn as mny techniques as possible. Then I try to work them out to second nature, so when I just "flow" the tech comes out. I also do a vocal pattern warm up where I try ti lay down scratches as if they were vocals on top of an instrumental. I also do a lil warm up where I try to follow the beat exactly but in different patterns. I also try to do a lil pauses games where I oull out the last beat of every two bars to allow a little spot for an Aaaah fill. Just wondering what emthods people use to try and develop the FUNK!
  11. So..What do you guys use to create. Ableton, Reason, ACID... What soundcards are you using? DO you go all outboard and run an MPC? Do you use your hardware/sofwarecombo for live sets are just production?
  12. Aaaaahhh is for fags. I use Fresshhhhh!
  13. Ever heard of industrial music? People have been through that already. The truth is a trap kit (bass, hat, snare) is the best round about way to cover your entire rhythmic frequency spectrum. You can use any sounds you want but they will be naturally divided into hi, mid and low, hence the reason we use the stock set up anyway. People just didnt decide to make it a standard by flipping a coin. It became a standard based on years of western music culture evolution or devolution. Just like how 90% of Western bands are Bass, Guitar, drums and vocals. Just a standard that was derived from years of condensing music down to the most effciant tools for creating and performing songs.
  14. No. That is not my girl. I just stumbled across the pic and could not quit staring. Subtle enought to leave something to my imagination, but up front enough to show the goods.
  15. Each layer/loop has to be the exact length as the initial layer/loop. You could always just lay down the first 8 let it finish the measure when it loops back around lay down the last 8. The new RC Loop pedals have more choices like what you speak of. If you are an avid user I would suggest getting the new version. Derive has it and could answer questions on it. I have seen it demoed and it was awesome.
  16. That thing was all hype. I wasn't feeling it at all. Pfft. I saw you rockin this live last week. Dont front!
