  1. i just meant i liked it better with the s logo like mix said and the stripes. and damn se7en! i thought the marks on the 07 ISP mixer that Q used on the diy vid were bad haha
  2. i agree with gabriel when he said that most of rap is quotes but when its just general shit like "bitch wanna ride with me" you dont know he is doing an homage to some rap song in 94 because the quote was gay to begin with. i especially started to not like 2pac when he basically admitted that he makes his music to bitch about how bad the ghetto is in hopes that "someone will clean it up". wow, great contribution to society. rather than try to do something he just whined hoping that someone else would and made a couple bucks off it
  3. http://www.djdeals.com/stantonSA5.htm think it looks ugly as fuck
  4. i dont like "gangsta" rappers to begin with but this is gold
  5. sideshow - i used to think like that man. i couldn't get my hands to do what i want. but it is amazing what you learn over time and listen to some shit you recorded a few months ago. you will get it dont give up man!
  6. the xmen's live shows are geared more towards show and body tricks and stuff. listen to "built from scratch", they pull off some awesome stuff.
  7. anyone listen to j5? i like numark and cut chemist's style with simple scratches moreso than crazy flares from the xmen a lot of times...so i am trying to mix and beat juggle more than scratch because even someone who listens to a ton of scratching appreciates the simple stuff for some reason
  8. how many hours a day and per week do you practice? with work and school i might practice an hour or two but risk getting 2 hours of sleep before school
  9. if i were an electrical appliance i would make sweet love to that pdx
  10. compared to mc'ing (whom a lot seem to be degressing towards the caveman era) anyone else sick of mc's rapping about fucking bitches and killing niggas then making the very next track "we must rid the world of violence and hold hands" damn hypocrits! where was i *searches for dentures*
  11. Tell that to dstyles without getting punched i think people just do music they like, i mean people are already incorporating jazz and such into their music, and radar was in a symphony, i think thats a really huge step. who knows where the art will be in 20 years, i dont think GW Theodore ever thought he would set all this off when he did a couple babies in his moms house
  12. i havent really heard any of their songs or seen them so that is probably why. maybe i just think so because the turntables are capable of producing such a wide variety of sounds compared to more "traditional" instruments. herm. good points you made. i still get bored sometimes when listening to q bert though haha but then it goes the same for me sleep does a self esteem good.
  13. i was thinking about the whole dj thing. its only been out like what 20 or 30 years and look how far its progressed. and i was comparing it to other instruments and such (guitars, pianos, etc.) and they really haven't evolved that much. so i dont know why a lot of dj's keep pressure on the new kids to keep advancing the art form...i think for it to advance any more it needs to get more simplified, or find a way to make it more musical than just robotic 300 click flares....its advancing too fast for a lot of timid people like me to keep up lol that is why i wanna edge away from scratching towards beat juggling because you can not only dance to it it is visually exciting compared to listening to qbert...that guy is fantastic because we as dj's know how hard it is to do that stuff but its not that great for dancing
  14. i don't really consider myself a dj because i consider dj's and turntablists to be guys that mix/scratch/juggle and can do breaks and shit... i live in utah, the nearest record store is a fuckin hot topic, or a store that sells techno or drum and bass but not really any hip hop and i hate commercialized 50 cent crap so i was watching scratch and how they say "these new kids only have like 10 battle records and that is their collection for life" i feel like a wannabe because that is pretty much me and to pay for more records its like 25 dollars or more per record to buy online, to get anywhere near a hundred records will bottom out my college money... what do you guys think?
  15. not when they jack the price up to 1200 or whatever the 909 is at now by the way anyone seen the xone 02's in action? the upfaders are longer than my penis for gods sakes edit: lighten up i am joking
  16. imho theres no mixer out there that can beat the looks of a ttm 56 with a blue faceplate gorgeous maybe except the pioneer mixers but last time i checked mixers were made for mixing not racing
  17. its supposed to match their kiddy lookin turntables: http://www.skratchworx.com/news/uploads/t80.jpg sometimes i think companies try to break the mold a little too hard
  18. new m447 cart. set to 50mm overhang, level tonearm, 3 grams. MUCH better tracking even with a slightly bumpy table/unbroken in needle/slight hole in record. thanks so much guys.
  19. hm i am seriously considering buying another PDX before they are discontinued..... :bold:
  20. same. closest thing to that would be him playing as his own dj band in his diy video 2 )
  21. does everyone make up their own nicknames? because im having a hard time finding one that is me...maybe im making too big a deal out of it.
  22. i sometimes think that the artform is getting so complicated that for it to get any further you have to learn how to become melodic and make music like woody, instead of saying "oh im gonna own the dmc's next year by unveiling my super duper 300 click flare" because i dont know about anyone else here, although i have mad props to qbert, no average human cares about all the stuff he can do and its not very sonically pleasing. dj's like woody and radar on the other hand make music.
  23. weren't too old, a few months. I ordered a new M447 though so hopefully when I break it in it will do better. As for overhang, needlz.com suggests 52 mm for the PDX, what do pdx users set their overhang to? Thanks
