  1. almost every musician worth his/her salt know their modes, it's basic music theory. it's just a way of working round the fretboard. i just dont like this whole music for sport thing, he may be able to play at a million miles per hour with the wailiest sound known to man and a complete knowledge of these mystical, known-to-few modes, but he doesnt have any of the feel someone like knopfler or harrison has most technical guitarist in the world? perhaps. one of the best in the world for music? not a chance! it's the reason why stevie wonder sells records and satriani, vai and all their ilk dont
  2. i have a late 70's japanese squier tele and it plays like a dream, sounds great too - cost just over £100 and smokes any ~£400 guitar i've played
  3. i've had a hak320 for about 2/3 years now and have no complaints at all
  4. maybe try and track down a gemini umx-5 - quality mixer and dirt cheap if you can find one
  5. if you wanna add a song someone else has on their page just click the add button in the song title and it'll add it to your profile
  6. also, you could do worse than checking out the beringer condenser mics - you can pick up the C1 for about £30! i know behringer have a lot of stigma attatched to them, but their new equipment is top class, i'd say of similar quality to goods four times the prices (for my money the £18 xm8500 is an sm58 beater) basically try before you buy if possible

  8. http://www.red5audio.com/acatalog/Condensor_Mics.html brilliant value for money, good rich sound from what i've heard
  9. yeah, similar thoughts here - if you could save your own pitch presets for each button it would be ace, otherwise we'll just end up with a bunch of chromatic boredom being produced if it had a built in sampler which could be pitch manipulated with the buttons that'd be wicked too also, is there any way to change the glide between notes?
  10. how much for us euro folk?
  11. begone, ye evil beast machine from the future!
  12. what sort of band are you trying to put together? what will be your role in the band? influences etc? im sure you'd be surprised at the playing ability of others if you just get out there - im afraid that playing "higher than grade 8" songs doesnt place you in the cream of the UK music scene and sounds like a bit of a naive statement this is not a personal attack or a put-down at all, but i just know from experience that if you want musical collaborators you have to go and find them face to face, and it helps to not let your ego in the way of prospects
  13. the internet's probably one of the worst ways to find people for bands - just go to gigs of the similar sort of music you would want to make and meet people! eg if you wanna form a blues band go to a blues jam! also, put notices up in your local guitar shop, various venues, look in local fanzines etc. where are you based?
  14. ... on one of my pdx-2300's! i've done all the usual troubleshooting and it is definately in the output of the turntable. any ideas what could be wrong? any way to fix it?
  15. did you get hold of one in the end x2k? any luck?
